hi..
by tests i meant the ultrasound and blood tests to check for downs syndrome.being over 35 this is a test they do generally as the risk is higher the older you get for having a baby with downs.plus the other ultrasounds at 18 weeks and i had another one at about 26 weeks i think it was, because they thought my placenta was over the womb entrance/exit.so by having that one they also checked to see the baby was developing normally which he was!
so i didnt exactly have any specific tests to see the baby was 'normal' apart from the normal ones.
hope all is well,lisa |

hi again...
i was one of the earlier people on the message board and now having read a few newer posts i would just like to say that to the people who posted about 'why would you do ex if preg',well i think all of us who did it didnt know we were pregnant.i would never have done that.i dont smoke cigarettes, smoke pot not that much anymore and gave that up as soon as i found out.i was really anxious those early weeks waiting to see if anything would come up on ultrasounds, but as i also posted earlier i had a very healthy happy baby who turns one next week.he has developed well and is even a bit ahead of some babies in milestones.
we make choices in our life that arent always the best and we have to live with them.im not proud of doing ex occassionally and especially to have been pregnant.i havent had any since the baby was born and im not saying i wont do it again at some point if i want to but its not a habit, just a choice on occasion.anyway, luckily all was ok.i agree with the last post..dont bag us out for doing whats already done.we cant change it. |

| I have just had my baby boy 4.5 months ago. When i fell pregnant i didn't know for 6 weeks, in that 6 weeks i had my 20th birthday where i drank 2 bottles of spirits and had 2 pills in the course of 13 hours and did not anyhthing. The next weekend i went to a music festival where i had a few more pills and speed and drank a whole load. I worked at a bar back then so i was drinking pretty much every night and doing pills maybe every second weekned and smoking a fair few bongs. As soon as i found out i was pregnant i stopped everything, even smoking cold turkey. I was so stressed about the amount of recreational drugs and alcohol i had consumed and what would happen to my baby. He was born a healthy 8lb9oz, 55cm, 1 day early and screaming. He is still perfectly healthy and happy. All i will say is yes everyone knows drugs are bad but hey, lets face it, when your young its all part of the experience, experimenting and the fun, it is not your fault if you were unaware you were pregnant and happened to indulge in some fun activity that may harm your unborn child, but it happens to alot of us, whether its drugs or alcohol or both. Im not saying that if we are aware we're pregnant it is ok in the early stages to go poppping pills and what not, i am just saying dont beat yourself up over somethng you weren't aware of cos 9.5/10 times the baby is completely fine! I think it would harm your baby a whole lot if you were further along. My cousin is one very irresponsible girl, while she was 30weeks pregnant she decided to have a lil amount of weed not thinking it would do anything, 2 days later she went into pre term labour and gave birth to her baby girl 10 weeks early, this is not smart and ridiculous. Even though her baby is fine now, she is 9 months old and the size of my 4.5 month old. This is a danger of doing something i think when your further along. earlier stages i wouldn't stress as long as you stop as soon as you find out you're pregnant. |

| i dont think that fair, saying she needs to get help for her drug use. no one here has suggested they are still taking X. People here are scared and trying to be responsible. No one took X when they knew they were pregnant. this whole message bord is about the clash when YOUR life and choices unexpectedly collide into a pregnancy. and it seems to me the silly responses aiming to scare the pregnant women who wish they hadent taken that pill and want a healthy baby so badly, well those negative responses are from people who havent ever taken a X or / and are very predudice against those who have. So why are you reading this at all? If you have nothing helfull to say, go away. |

| I have studied about pediatrics for about 3 years and I can tell you that you definitly need to get help,Just because your partner put a poison in her body with a fetus present. It doesnt matter if your partner doesnt do it while shes pregnant or not her whole life she will have those poisons in her body,Be sure to let the doctor know to keep a really strong eye on your baby. Just make sure she tries to stop doin the drugs atleast while shes pregnant because the baby might be addicted to them at birth and just might need them to stay alive. |

| I hope that all your children turn out ok.BUT.I cannot understand why you would give your unborn child a drug? Will you give it to them after they are born too? Maybe you should think twice about keping your child. |

| Hello , I just read your note and I'm in a very similar situation. I was in a very large music festival with my wife and partied very hard, I mean drug consumption was large ,from both parts .It was a full week of partying and there is a very large probability she got pregnant on this trip ,so when I got back we still didn't know that she was pregnant so we went on another trip and she took ecstasy(1) and LSD and smoked some pot and drank. But know she has been taking very good care of herself , she has been eating very healthy and drinking the correct vitamins. But I'm still very worried. Please someone help out . |

hi there..
as you may have read on an earlier post of mine, that i too took same e when not yet knowing of my preganancy..i was about 5 weeks at the time..im now 16 weeks and have had 2 ultrasounds plus blood tests(but that was really due to the fact im 39 and you have to have certain blood tests at my age to determine the risk of downs syndrome).nevertheless no major abnormalities seemed present but obviously we will never really know till the babe comes along..its a bit scary thinking that i could be carrying that 1 in over 1000 in my case that could have been affected..but i chose to continue with the pregnancy so i guess i have to suffer the consequences of my actions if something goes wrong..but hey i suffered big time with morning sickness so maybe that was the babe telling me off!
this is my 4th child and with my others i had drunk and smoked pot till i found out and i think even had speed with my first, but they are all fine..good luck anyway! |

| Hi Julia, to be honest you will need to have tests done via your GP as in ultrasounds to see if there has been any affect on your baby. Please just be honest with your GP, try not to upset yourself and keep off the ex. All the best, take care, Melissa:-) |
