Maybe you should keep him inside for a little while. My 6 month old puppy she does the same thing. We finally figured out that she had been smelling my next door neighboors dogs. Then we took her in and now she has stopped.

Puppy Problem Reply to this message
Hello,
I have a problem with my puppy; I was hoping that you could help me, please.

I have a six month old White German Shepherd, and he has recently been acting very strangely.
He lives outside, with his half-sister (who is black and tan).
When I go inside he will sit outside, look in the window and maybe bark at the odd person walking by.
Although when I go outside to play with him and his sister, he will check to see who is there (and if I have food) but then walk, sometimes run around in circles, or in a line sniffing the ground and every couple of metes bark at the ground.
Initially I thought the he was tracing the sent of rabbits, but when he started circling the car, [that was in the garage, and I knew that rabbits couldn’t have been there] I wasn’t sure what it was, that was making him go mental.
I tell him off, and he is very cautious usually of getting in trouble, because he doesn't like it. But when I say his name, then follow that with 'NO'. He looks then continues doing the same sniffing/barking thing again. Also if I call him over, he will not come unless I have food for him, and even the he doesn't always come to me. Sometimes, I have to force him to come and eat his breakfast or dinner.
It’s really frustrating me not only because of the barking, but the fact that I cannot play with him, also I am scared that the neighbours will complain of his barking.
Before he stated doing this, he was the most loving, gentle dog,
and has only been doing it for a week or 2, but I’m hoping that there is a way to stop him, or if he will grow out of it.
I am not sure what to do, and I am just surfing the Internet on any other people who are having the same problem, but cannot find anything useful, actually I cannot find anyone else with this problem
I have always had a German Shepherd, but its always been a black and tan, female and I have never had this problem before. Maybe it’s to do with the gender, I am not sure.
If you ...
