| I have read this as well that onions are bad but I have never had a problem with my 2 old girls eating my spaghetti bol. and it has cooked onion it - they love it. They only get it once a month if that but they are 16 and 15 and doen really well except the normal alignments. I have been lucky with chocolate, I never give them any but one day Jemma ate a small box from under the Christmas tree and was really lucky - just vomited for a hour or so and settled down. |

| With regard to your comment about onions being bad for dogs - its only when the onions are cooked that they cause problems. The major health problem that occurs from dogs eating cooked onions is toxic shock syndrome (my grandmother's chihuahua suffered from it) which can lead to epilepsy and strokes. |

Chocolate is poisonous to dogs, as are sultanas/raisins/ grapes. (Maybe the bars the dog is eating are cheap and have little actual chocolate content.) Also onions are bad for dogs, over time.
The sugar content of chocolate also can cause horrendous health problems for dogs, as they have no capacity in their systems for coping with sugar. It is not a natural part of a carnivores diet.
Try this site for more info. It is the ASPCA Poison Control Centre.
