Re:Recipes Reply to this message
I have a big blender and a stick blender and only ever use the stick one...its convenient, it does the same job and is much easier to clean up, plus you can pulse it in the saucepan so again less washing up.

I am 'ease' driven so the less work the better which is what the stick blender is.

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
I have a mini food processor and a bullet blender. I tend to use the bullet a lot. Its really good for individual serves. I probably wouldn't use it if I was doing big quantities. It is also really good for grating parmesan and other cheeses. I bought one online the other day for 36.00 including delivery. If you are interested I can dig out the receipt and let you know the website.

Fi

Cat,

I have only ever used my stick blender but a lot of people here recommend the bullet blenders because you can blend up such tiny amounts and drink them straight from the cup or store what you don't drink..

I have seen them for around $39 in Big W

Speaking of blenders...

I have a question. What's the best type to buy in order to puree foods and make nice soups?

I have one of those stab mixers, but wanted to buy a food processor. Only sticking point is that they cost about $100.

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
Hi Everyone,
Very basic dessert here but a guilt free one at that!! I find it doesn't just slip through my band - I run it quite tight. I think the cold has something to do with it!

About 1/2 punnett strawberries (freeze them first), 100ml or so of hot water with 2 equal tablets dissolved.

Put frozen strawberries into magic bullet or other blender/processor and add enough water+equal to make a sorbet type consistency.

Very yummy, like a gourmet type icecream, but none of the guilt!!

Also works well with frozen mango.

HUGS,
Fi

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
These patties are band friendly for me
TURKEY & FETTA PATTIES

approx 500g turkey mince
approx 150g crumbled fetta cheese
1 pkt frozen spinach - thawed and well squeezed to remove most of the liquid
1 egg - beaten
approx 1 cup breadcrumbs
sweet chilli sauce (to taste)
salt and pepper (to taste)

Mix all together (if a bit dry I add more chilli sauce)make into small patties and dry fry.
Very moist - and even nice cold!

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
I made up some Chicken Patties a couple of weeks ago that were on here and they were delicious and also went down a treat, the whole family loved them. A couple of cups of shredded cooked chicken a dollop of WW sour cream, 2 slice MG bread into breadcrumbs, 1 tsp Dijon mustard and lightly fried in shallow pan. that amount made 5 decent size patties

Conjaz,

I used 400g because that is what I had and it was enough so I suppose 500g would be fine as well.

Hi
The tin of creamy chicken sort of thickens it a bit and gives it a nice texture.....

Hi Cat

I can eat celery and brocolli, it's all trial and error and we all have to figure out what we can and cannot eat. Sometimes though what won't go down one day will go down no problem another day.

Food question:

Can any banders tell me whether celery goes down well? I really like it with dip but notice that it's very stringy. What about brocolli??

Thanks,
Cat

I always used the 4 serve variety - but I've never had the tin of soup in it. Might be worth a try.
