Re:Recipes Reply to this message
Hi Bevil, I purchased my two copies (I have two - one at work, and one at home - sounds crazy but if I am work trying to decide what we are going to have for dinner - I flick through the cook book, buy the ingredients (Safeway is next to my work place) and then go home and cook it) from my work social club but I have seen it at various book shops. Kind regards, P1xie xo

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
Hi everyone, I just have to share this yummo, easy, peasy, healthy salmon recipe with you all -

Baked Salmon with Pesto Crust (taken from the 4 Ingredients cook book - page 126)

Serves 4 -

4 Salmon steaks
1 Jar Basil Pesto
Half cup of either grated tasty cheese or pecorino cheese
1 lemon

Sear salmon steaks on each side for 2 minutes, skin side down first. Meanwhile combine pesto and cheese. Spread this mixture over salmon steaks and squeeze lemon juice over the top. Bake in a moderate oven for 15 minutes.

My family really enjoyed the salmon with just a plain salad and a little bit of olive oil as salad dressing.

Enjoy!
Love, P1x xo

Hi Kyla,

Welcome to our Aussie site. A rasher of bacon means a slice.

What part of the US are you in?

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
Thanks all.
I have been reviewing all the reciepes, and I feel alot better now that I have some ideas. I got the Lap-Band. All my doctor gave me was a list of chicken broth, diet jello and pudding, protien mix. Not much help. I was starting to feel like I wont make it on only those items, but will all the new recipes I got I feel so much better. I do have a question however, the recipes that have bacon teh ingredients say ex 4 Rasher of bacon. Does that mean slices? I think my lingo is a little different since I am from the US.

Thanks for your help
Kyla

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
Hi Kiss
You probably only need to be on CLEAR liquids for 1-2 days after surgery. so move onto other liquids
Protein shakes are great to make you feel full and get rid of hunger: which brand did you have pre op? Mix up half a sachet at a time and have that for a meal.
Have a look at the main menu: there are 2 topics: liquid phase and mushies (the next stage) there are some great ideas for food.
Thin soup, milkshake, liquid yoghurt, fruit and vege soup area all good. Have about 1/2 a cup at a time sip slowly, use a straw or a small teaspoon so you eat/drink small amounts at a time. Inbetween meals have lots of water. if you are feeling low in energy, put a berocca tablet in a bottle of water. Let the fizz settle and then sip away. Do you have a liquid multivitamin (Acccomin is good)?
But make sure you stay hydrated, so sometimes if you think you ae hungry try just water and see if that helps.
Did your surgeon or dietician not give you any suggested menu/eating plans?
Debra
PS Don't forget your pain meds.

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
Hi Kiss, on the front page there is a thread for fluid stage and the next stage is mushies and there is a thread for that as well. If you have a read of those it should give you ideas.

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
Fi, I went out and bought ice block holders for the freezer.

I found a better feta dip recipe in this month's Woolworths recipe book:

200 g feta cheese,roughly chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 tbs extra virgin olive oil
1/4 dill sprigs, finely chopped (mmm I love dill)
1 tbs finely chopped chives

Process all ingredients except dill and chives until smooth. Add dill and chives and stir through until even. Serve with toasted pita bread or crackers.

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
Hi All,

Just thought I'd share a dessert recipe with you....always a sucker for dessert!!

I buy whatever fruit is in season (usually strawberry, mango, raspberry, banana, etc), and cut it into small pieces and freeze it. When I feel like ice cream, I take some frozen fruit, and add about 100ml forme yoghurt (enough just to blend the fruit), and a squirt of honey, then whizz in the bullet blender.

I find it much easier to eat fruit like this, and its a treat too! The kids also love it.

If your yoghurt is a bit short dated, whizz up a bigger lot and just keep it frozen - scoops out just like ice cream.

HUGS,
Fi

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
The recipes came from those 350 Recipe magazines you buy in the supermarkets, and also the Woolworths and Coles free mags. When I was dieting a few weeks ago I would buy a mag everytime I wanted Hungry Jacks. Needless to say I ended up with many.

The feta dip was contributed to the magazine by those ladies who wrote "4 ingredients".

I personally love my homemade chickpea dip. My mate taught it to me. He simply uses his stab mixer to blend 1 can of chickpeas, and pours in a few tablespoons of olive oil. He adds lemon juice, garlic, salt and cracker pepper to taste. It is really wonderful on toasted pita bread. It takes about 5 minutes to make.

Hi Cat

I agree about the blender thing...I mostly use a 20yr old hand held Bamix or a cheap vitamizer just adding a bit of water to allow it to mix up........

The recipe sounds nice where did you see it...

Re:Recipes Reply to this message
Speaking of pureeing. I had this discussion a while back with everyone regarding food processors.

I bought a mini food processor and it doesn't work properly. I also have a stab mixer. It turns a can of chick peas into soup, so perhaps I just use that?

There are so many choices for food processors and blenders. All expensive. $89 and up. I just had a brain spark. I will borrow my friends (it sits in its box) and see if I find it convenient.

Judy I did find a nice chargrilled mangoes with custard recipe.

Thanks,
Cat
