Re:Dr Nottle Williamstown Reply to this message
Thanks Mrs Bear :)

PS: My port has half-flipped in the last few months but they are still able to use it by tilting the needle sideways. If it flips right over, I was told it's a simple day procedure to have it sorted again, so I'm not worrying about it at all. I haven't needed a fill for the past 4 months so I'm very lucky.

I was banded one month ago, and already my port has flipped. I haven't even spoken to dr nottle since way b4 the opp. Didn't see him after, nor the first pre-op appointment. I guess I will see him now tho.

Re:Dr Nottle Williamstown Reply to this message
Hi Vicki,

I have celebrated all day in a quiet grateful way, overjoyed to find myself finally here! I set the goal about 2 and a half years ago, long before I even considered banding, so am quite amazed at the journey it has taken me.

I relate to those last 3 kg - my main weight loss was quite dramatic and fast over the first few weeks, but the fine tuning seems to have taken months. I have learnt to be patient, knowing I was heading in the right direction, and you will find yourself there sooner rather than later too, I'm sure!

Good luck!

Rob

Wow WTG Rob. I bet you feel ace.
Are you going to celebrate?

I am battling my goal of being under 100 (99.9 will do) for my daughter's wedding. I have roughly 3 kilos to go. Have plateau ed and over dieting majorly lol.

Re:Dr Nottle Williamstown Reply to this message
Hi again,
I just remembered! Twice when i was on the phone with the nurse and once at his office, I asked them what was the reason for taking the opti-fast and I was always told it was to help you lose weight before the op, I was never told because of my liver. Take was the reason why I didnt take it a few times.

Thanks

Re:Dr Nottle Williamstown Reply to this message
Hi

I got the call for the booking and I have never had a review or follow up since 2006 and that was the last time that I saw the dietitian back in 2006. So I wasnt really told by anyone to follow it, now I feeling worried. Although I read the old information I given in 2006, I have taken it alot with a few days here and there not taking it.
Thanks for your reply.

Re:Dr Nottle Williamstown Reply to this message
roastlamb,

I suggest you let them know prior to going into theater. You don't want to wake up with wounds and no band, and trust me that can happen. Why didn't you follow the Opti if you were told too. I know what it's like being on the public waiting list and there was no way I would have risked missing out by not doing what they told me to do.

Be honest with them before they wheel you into the operating theater. The risk is too great otherwise.

Re:Dr Nottle Williamstown Reply to this message
I would suggest if you have been advised to do Optifast, then just follow instructions. The purpose of it is to shrink the liver, to enable the surgeon easier access to placing the band. The liver needs to be moved to do this, and is a very brittle organ. If the liver is too big, you may well find that the operation is unable to be performed. A secondary advantage is that it helps you lose some weight prior to the op. A third advantage is that it is sooooooooooooo much easier to follow the post-op eating regime if you have done Optifast before surgery.

My advice: just follow what your surgeon suggests.

Re:Dr Nottle Williamstown Reply to this message
My op is 6 days away now. Getting so close now. into my 3rd week on Opti, and haven't cheated yet. It is true the first 4 days are very hard. Still is hard, but I have gotten through others around me having McDonalds, fish n chips, donuts etc, and haven't touched a Coke in over 2 weeks (that it self is an acheivment) I actually have found the Strawberry Opti is very nice, when adding frozen strawberries to it. I only feel hungry at the right times now, expect sometimes in the evening where I still crave chips LOL..

I agree, I would always add an extra 100 ml of CHILLED water to the optifast and drink it through a straw - even began to enjoy it after a while LOL!

By the way, I always added more water to the shakes. They are really disgusting thick sludge if made up as directed.
