I'm still trying to get my head around the fact i've been able to do 9 days on the optifast diet!
I'm not overly concerned with things getting stuck or failing yet - i'll freak out about that if/when it happens!! :)

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Well today is day 6 of opti, and i am doing really well with it.

My faves would have to be the strawberry shakes, so as a treat i have that one for dinner, kind of a you have done really well kinda thing.

I know i shouldn't reward myself with food, but hmmmmm i do!

I have not cheated once, and am so proud if myself :D

My problem is that i stand on the scales to often, and only dissapoint myself :(

I have lost 3 kg since sat, or should i say between sat and tuesday and it has now stopped. Is this normal?

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Good morning all

We all seem to be doing really well on the Optifast ....
well done everyone!

It's lovely to hear from some newbies too, welcome and hope you find this thread as caring and supportive as I have. We are here to help each other along and love to hear our each of us is doing...good times and bad.

I'm on my 9th day of Optifast and all going well again. I hope I don't bore anyone with my daily reporting but I feel I need to account to someone so what better way than to account to those that have been through it or are gong through it. There is nothing more assuring than knowing someone has gone through everything you are going through and come out the other side.

P*xie miss you sister as you OK?

Have a great day everyone xx

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Good evening!

Well Tuesday was the start of week 2 of 3 on opti, and I have had a lose of 4 KILOS in my first week - YES! It really really surprised me! And it also made me more determined to stick to it! This week I have started to do some exercise, and am much more calm about the whole process, knowing that I can do it, and it is working has helped a whole lot! As a bonus, am I almost half way through the opti ride :-) approx 30 more meals to go.
I don't have the veggies at night time, I haven't had to snack in between meals, (although I am now almost drinking the right amount of water, so that keeps me busy between meals) I just generally use 250 mls of water with the opti. I make sure that I have some good liquid vitamins - for me it was going to be all opti only.

I will do this, I can do this, I am doing this, :-)

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hello Everyone

My names Allison and my surgery is on the 16th Oct. My surgeon asked me to try and lose 10 - 15 kilos before that. I am 155 kilos (luckily i am quite tall though at 6'2"). i have never been 'normal'! so i have no idea how i will look at a healthy weight and can not even picture it.

I started optifast yesterday (will complete 4 wks on it) and know i will struggle but i have to get through the 'im so hungry i could kill' phase as i do not want to fail at losing weight and getting a life again!

I have read some of the older posts and THANKYOU to everyone for posting your ideas on how to make the shakes/soups nicer - i dont find them to bad yet but im sure at some stage i will just go 'argh' at the thought of having them so all the info you have shared is going to help me make it a lot easier.

I do have an issue with the vegies - i have never been a big vegie eater and there are probably only 5 things on the vegie list that i can eat - so i am going to make some of the recipes that i have found on here and will try most of them - those that arent soups already i will blend up to make a soup as i have a stupid thing about texture when i eat - most vegies - if its not the taste - its the texture that will stop me from eating it - crazy i know but thats me LOL

I can not wait to wake up after surgery and know that my liver was not too big and i was banded - its really the one thing left that i have to stress over.

Thanks again everyone

Allison

Kaz,

The veggies are optional unless you are having problems with constipation.

I have been drinking plenty of water and having my shakes 3 times a day, most nights i dont have the 2 cups of steamed vegies as i am not a big fan of them, and surprisingly don't feel all that hungry.

Are you MEANT to have the vegies or are they optional?

Suzi
The important thing is that you get back on track straight away, as you did. Dont beat yourself up too much. Make sure you drink plenty of water, to help flush it away (Pardon the pun). I can certainly empathise with the nausea. I have had this as well. Maybe it is better to have one of the bars available, for those weak moments. I like the berry one more than the coffee one. It seems to reset the brain controlled hunger wave. I will be getting more today.

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi everyone

Peter I love your determination 10 days on Optifast and going so well. Unfortunately I slipped up yesterday. I was having waves of nausea and could no longer bear it so last night at 8pm I had a lebonese bread to settle my stomach (always works for me) and some cheese cos I was extra hungry. Back on track today though.

Good luck everyone.xx

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Wow! Thanks for the great feedback. i really appreciate your honesty with sharing your experience.I am sorry that you have been in pain though. At least now I know what kind of pain I could expect. I really love the sound of your feeling full that lasts and lasts. I think it is so much easier to be strong, when your tummy is full and content. Not sure about the baked beans and cup of soup. I guess i wont know until I try it. I like the sound of the up and go. They are nice lol. I will be definitely be sticking to the optifast (10 days now. Woo hoo). Though there have been times when it has been sooooooo tempting to just have something nice to eat. Especially when the kids are having it. But I have found that that feeling passes eventually. I might a cup of coffee to sip. That helps. I had (4) strawberries yesterday and that helped stem the hunger.
Once again, thank you
Peter

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
PETER, HI FIRST OF ALL YOU MUST REMEMBER EVERYONES EXPERIENCE IS DIFFERENT9sorry for stating the obvious) AND PAIN TOLERANCE ALSO DIFFERS SORRY ABOUT the caps!Hi my op was last tuesday,yes..liver masssive and floppy docs words...i have general soreness plus plus cos of the op lol, but as a result of my massive floppy liver i am now taking longer to get back to normal. i am sore in my tummy area , a pulling type sensation and a punched in the stomach type of feeling. i drink up and go, cup a soups which i have added baked beans to and whizzed to runny consistency(thanks PYRETTA X), i drink orange juice once or twice a day and water in between, i have found though that i dont drink as much water as i should perhaps cos of the fullness, that being said i believe i dont have restriction yet so dont quite understand the fullness, which seems to last and last and last....by the way, the fullness feeling has just set in, day before yesterday i was getting really bad hunger pains, they are gone now!.ASK ALL YOU WANT, im happy to answer anyything, just stick to your optifast lol

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi Jane

This is one time I will gladly shout 'I'M A LOSER' and really feel great about it.

About your questions....yes you are allowed unsweetened chewing gum and diet soft drink. I would still drink my 2 litres of water though as that is what washes the toxins out of your body...I can't see diet soft drink doing the same thing. Just add a drink of soft drink on top of your water. If you are having trouble drinking all the water heat is up a bit in the microwave and you could add lemon if you wanted. Both these have helped me especially heating it as warm water is easier to drink. I'm not sure about caffeine free diet coke I keep away from all that at this stage.

Inside every box of Optifast products is a brochure which gives you all the information you need but remember to follow what your surgeon or dietician has programmed especially for you.

Good luck with it Jane xx

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hello Corinne
How long has it been since you had the op?
Did the doctor say that you are sore because the liver was still too big when you had the op? Or it is just becuase of the op? (general soreness)
Where are you sore?
What liquids are you on now?
Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to get a picture of what it will be like when it is my turn
Hope you are feeling better soon
Peter

Hi Suziq
im still quite sore and slow,i suppose it's the price you pay when you dont stick to optifast, i knew id suffer but not as long as this!!! lol , it's killing me, well im living proof that recovery is longer when you dont stick to your optifast and therefore enlarged liver...or as my surgeon put it "massive floppy liver"...god bless him

Thanks SuziQ, well done on your loss. I alway find it quite ironic how we celebrate being LOSERS:)
Just a quick question, are we allowed to have sugar free chewing gum on the opti and what about caffeine free diet coke? I know I should really push the water but I do love my CFDC. Also, is soda water ok? Jane

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi Peter,
Yes I do have an enlarged liver that's why I decided to start the Optifast before I have my second appointment with my new surgeon. I have my op end Nov/early Dec so working with my GP. Would like to loose 10 kilo before operation more if possible and that will bring the liver down to a healthy size....don't know if he could feel it though.

Jane, so pleased you rang your surgeon and postponed your operation. You will be there before you know it. Good luck. Poor Corinne has really suffered by not following the Optifast properly.

How are you going Corinne, my love, are you feeling any better?

I'm feeling very pleased with myself....I am on my 7th day of Optifast intensive and I have lost 3.7 kilos. Hooray!! At long last I am on my way.

Good luck everyone xx
