Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi ya Clare and everyone!!! Day 6 Opti and hanging in there!! Sunday was my worst day so far, by the afternoon I had slight headache, was irritable, hungry @ almost teary!!! Was very similar to bad PMT!! LOL. I'm adding small amounts of lean protein to my meal although I know I'm not supposed to but it's helping me stay emotionally and physically together, so if I don't lose as much weight as I would of if I didn't add the protein...too bad!!! Would much rather my sanity!! LOL. Today I'm doing well and am finally finding that the shakes are filling me up (along with the 2L of water) and I haven't actually eaten anything as yet!!! I will weigh myself on Thurs morn to see how I'm going. I don't know about anyone else out there, but I had to dose myself yesterday with laxatives big time as I had become severely constipated and my stomach was bloated and achy. I don't understand it as I have been drinking at least 2L of water, as well as the fruit and vege's plus 1 tespoon of Benefibre in my morn shake everyday???? Anyhoo all's well that ends well and today everything back to normal. Take care everyone and will touch base in a couple of days. Monica

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
I lost 6 kilo in three weeks on Opti but I was very strict with myself. Walking 30 minutes per day every day. I ate a big handful of cashews one night and it was torture until I got myself back into the zone two days later. I'm still on Opti post op for another two weeks but can only manange one per day and a bit of soup at the moment. Just not hungry. It is hard for me to shift a single ounce so I can't afford to waver. Stick with the program Clare, every kilo is worth it and you don't have to reach goal to be a winner. Mack

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi Monica and everyone else, well I went away for three days thinking it would be easy to not eat anything nasty BUT....I gave in and ate hot chips and gravy TWICE, with my kids! I am now back on track and feel ace! I miss chewing crunchy things though...like Samboy BBQ chips, STOP NOW. Went to my Dr yesterday and had lost 1kg, one tiny weenie kilo! All of you who are losing bucket loads of weight on opti, how much exercise are you doing?

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Wind or gas pain is not uncommon Molly. Try taking a soluble fibre like Metamucil with lots of water every couple of days. It will clear the system and remove any lingering matter breaking down and creating toxins along the way. Sorry to say wind pain has been troublesome after the band as well. Mack.

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Congratulation on your control in the food court Molly. This battle is won and lost in your head. Remember it takes at least three weeks to make a new habit and you have taked a big step towards controlling your eating pattern. I have another two weeks of Opti again post op but not green vegetables which is not exactly hard since I don't feel the least bit hungry. Mack

Krissy have a look at the thread what to expect for the newly banded http://au.messages.yahoo.com/lifestyle/lap-band/63 060/

You should be up walking around within a few hours. i was walking and sipping within an hour. Pain is controlled by a drip to start with then regular meds.

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Can anyone give me some info about what pain I can expect to be in immediately after surgery? For eg, can I sit up and walk around soon after surgery, or is it really painful? Are we given painkillers after surgery?

Thanks!

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi Molly,

Congrats on that weight loss! I can't believe that at only 93kg you were even allowed to get the band. I've had to fight for it at 110kg - am told I'm on the 'borderline' of being heavy enough.

I'm seeing Dr Caska in Woy Woy NSW, which doctor are you seeing?

Keep going and good luck!

Krissy

wow Claire you can have strawberries...i can't have any fruit :0(.... but tonight I am having steamed spinach with a tomato vegie kinda pasta sauce I made up - only ontop of spinach and not pasta.

this afternoon grocery shopping on the way home from work - I could have dived into the fridge section at coles and eaten everything!! ha ha

at least at the chemist I picked up some different flavour optifast shakes and am trying the desserts..

good luck guys

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hey Clare...Day 2 of Opti and I'm feeling tired more than anything. Been chewing gum like a cow chewing it's cud!!! LOL Got strawberries by the punnet load to eat and diet jelly to snack on too. Raw carrot hits the spot when I need that extra bit of crunch!! LOL Will make up big pot of minestrone style soup on the weekend to see me through. Am crossing the days off on the calender on my fridge in big black ink strokes!!! It helps me to stay focused @ gives me immense satisfaction!!! LOL. Did you get on the Oct '09 Bander thread ok?? Keep on keeping on girlfriend!!!
