| trixie, hang tough love, it's for a good cause.... the extreme-ness of the optifast does two things, it helps get the extra s h i t out of your system, that makes you feel blah, but in doing so..has so many more effects I know..... but it also shrinks your liver, cause that sucker is in the way, the top of your stomach where the surgeon needs to put the zippy tie, is behind your liver, so the healthier your liver is for the op, the safer it is for you, as it needs to be lifted during the proceedure... also it kick starts your weight loss journey, and for the first time ever - you know all the effort will be worth it, because it aint't never coming back!!! Take strong head ache tablets and drink lots of water, the headaches can be associated with carb/sugar/caffiene withdrawals also - so munch some vege's instead - or drink, drink, drink water, diet jelly is good too!! | Oh my god - I got my op date yesterday (yay) and then he told me I have to do Optifast for a MONTH!!! (aaarrrgh!) NOT looking forward to it. I have gone on those liquid diets before and it makes me psychotic. I get soo depressed and moody and get killer migraines to top it off. Anyone else experienced this and have some helpful tips? Maybe I could be put into an induced coma for a month and they can drip feed it to me?! |

poo wee's is funny!
day 7 optifast for me. Only 8 days till my op. I really want to chew something.
It's strange but the foods I think about eating are not the chocolate, smarties, savoury shapes and bread and butter but the ordinary everyday foods. Things that I could eat on a low calorie diet like egg on toast, mashed potato, feta cheese, olives, sundried tomato......well mostly things I could eat on a low cal diet. It would be quite nice to have a few wines too.
My shameful secret. I really enjoy my coffee shakes. I look forward to them cos I'm hungry but I really enjoy the taste too. *standing by to be ridiculed*
jackie
lizzie we are nearly there. countdown.

| Hey everyone, I just started the Optifast stage on Monday. Gee it's pretty tuff stuff. I'm not sure if I can hold out until the 21st of next month, which is the day of my op. I don't feel as bad reading everyone else's stories here. Goodluck all! ;o) |

Oh, Lord. That's bizarre. I just had my breakfast shake and actually thought to myself, "You know, that actually tastes okay." Hopefully today will be easier. I made a heap of diet jelly last night (raspberry and lemon/lime) and I've got Bonox to try (not sure what I'll think of that). So today I'm committed to just getting through on the Optifast.

OMG!!!!!! SHERRIE!!!! Literally 5 mins ago I said the *EXACT* same thing to my hubby!!!!
My husband, who did the optifast before his surgery, said that after a few days your body stops fighting it and starts to accept the opti and it does start to taste good! He said around day 3 of his opti he thought the spring veggie soup was the yummiest food in the WORLD!LOL |

I made heaps of meals last week and put them in take away containers and put them in the freezer because I don't think I could cope with having to cook up a nice meal every night and not have any.

Yes I had diet jelly most days when I was in the mad insanely hungry stage, and I guess tinned tomatoes are okay, just watch the saltiness of them, as they might make you retain fluid.
The first few days are the absolute worst, I agree

Hi Zekenme
Hugs back. Thanks very much I needed that. Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm trying not to be although I know exactly what you are saying - yep, I feel like the biggest, fattest fool in the world too.
Damn bring on that surgery.
