Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi everybody, well week one is over and I lost 4.5kg which I am happy about. i only cheated once a couple of days ago and I had tuna and tomato on toast. I was starving and couln't face cooking vegies again. I am going to be better this week and cook some vegies ahead of time for when I am too tired. I will also start doing some exercise this week. I also lost quite a few centimetres this week and my clothes feel more comfortable. The big test will be next weekend when I am going to the Hunter Valley for the weekend and have to find healthy options!! Have a great day people...Lesley

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Yeah i didnt think the nuts would be allowed, I havnt seen the dietician yet so im kinda winging it until then, but at the end of the day we all know deep down what we should and shouldnt eat!! Its just the head hunger, i know i dont need anything but it sure beats downing a pack of cream biscuits or a block of chocolate surely!!! lol

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Not sure about the nuts gem, I know I'm not allowed them. They are pretty high in fats, although good fats, I guess not good when on opti!lol. A little milk in your cuppa should be okay I think. Well done on being good tonight!

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Gem, I was wondering how you were going. My dietician suggested I started the first week having some protein with my vege's to get used to it all. I must say that it made it a little easier to stick to just opti and veg this week, although it has taken 2 weeks to get over the hunger! Better than loading up on carbs though which will stop you going into ketosis.

I dont know about anyone else BUT here is what I think I work full time & im a fairly newish single mum of two wonderful children (thankfully) so life is pretty hectic for us but I honestly think I get much more hungrier on the weekend cos at work I dont find it bothers me all that much. I usually have a shake for breaky bar for lunch & then another shake for tea. But 2night im also starving (like every1) so I have just zapped some of thoses steam fresh veggiesReally yummy.

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
I am blaming it on the weather. It's cold here today. I was feeding the chooks this afternoon and the laying pellets were looking good!!! I just had dinner, vanilla optifast which I really like and some stir fry veggies, feeling much better now.

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
The nurse told me that out of their last two thousand surgeries at John Flynn Hospital, they have had 12 band slips. And she said it can be easily fixed. Don't freak out about it, its all good! When you weigh up the negetives and the positive, the positives weigh out the negetives by far!!!!

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Nat I wouldnt worry too much about what other ppl say well from my point of view anyway I have made this decision as an educated & well researched. As im sure most of us have just go with what is rite for u if you are concerned or have doubts then maybe you could post pone your op. But going on what my surgeon has told me if you do the rite things then you really shouldnt even be vomiting & then the band wouldnt slip. Easier said than done I know But im just going with it & will try to do all the right things for ME! I hope I have helped you & not confused you.

Hi Nett,
I am having my surgery on the 11/3/08. I have been really strict on the optifast. I have not even licked a spoon while cooking for the family. I am bloody starving today! I feel dizzy and headachey but I won't give in!!! I have never wee so much since being pregnant. Drinking lots of water. I have no cravings just so hungry. I have been reading the other yahoo chata sight http://au.messages.yahoo.com/health/lap-band/10396 9?p=103 and now I am getting frigthen as a few people have had the band slip.

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Fee! two days before I started my optifast, I was craving a Steak Sandwich too! So, we went out for dinner the night before optifast started, and it was the worst steak I had ever eaten. I am considering having a steak befroe banding on friday too, as it doesn't sound like it will be as enjoyable in the months to come, when you have to chew it to death until there is no flavour left lol. Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hey Nat, When are you having your surgery done. We are around the same weight and im only the optifast now too. I am 171cm, with a 119kg weight. BMI 40. I have gained 20kgs since the birth of my 14mth old bubba. My surgery is on Friday (5 days). I have only been on the optifast for 4 and a half days as the clinic moved my surgery forward a week. I have cheated a few times, but will healthy stuff. I have had prawns instead of a shake a couple of times with my dinner veges, and I replaced a shake and veges meal for a lavash bread with allowed salads and 100g lean chicken. I have exercised ALOT in the last week, and only lost 2.5kgs, so if you have lost six with minimal exercise, that is AWESOME!!! Good luck with everything. Talk soon. Nett (27)

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi nat,
Well done on you loss! You must feel great.5.5kg for me now. Slowly but shurely coming off. I am trying to focus on the fact that every gram I lose is a gram that's gone forever! Not how quickly it goes. I finally feel I'm over the starvation now to which is making it a little easier. Although I am having severe craving's for a steak sandwich. I think I will have to have it one last time before banding, because if I can't eat it after I will forever regret it!!
