Creature,
Add extra vitamins, especially vitamin C. Go to your GP and see if there is anything they can give you a boost of to help fight it.

I am a coffee fiend. Love it. I've been on Opti for 3 weeks & have lost 11 kg. I completely cut coffee from my diet (had the headache from hell for about 24 hours), but started using the opti coffee shakes. Not having a real coffee made my tastebuds believe that Opti coffee is a delicious coffee treat! Can't hurt to try it!

amewy,
which ever weight loss surgery you have is personal choice and both have their positives and negatives. YOU have to be the one to decide which WLS suits you and your situation the best. It would be nice to have the support of your family but it is YOU that needs to be sure you are making the right decision.

Hi,
I am booked into Dr Harrison on the 6th July, I am supposed to have a gastric sleeve, but my family are giving me such grief about the things that can go wrong, after watching stories on TV I am now considering the band as another alternative, thats why I am looking on this site. I was having the sleeve as I live 3 hrs from Wagga and there is not so much follow up as the band as there are no fills or anything like that |

Soon,
I'm sure two strict weeks of Opti will be fine. That's what most people are asked to do anyway. Try not to fret over it too much.

Vanschick,
Some people are allowed 6 berries but I have never heard of anyone being allowed apples or banana's. Check with your surgeons or dietitian. Otherwise check out the flyer that comes in the Optifast box or the Optifast website. I'm sure they will give you ideas as well.

Wow, it seems like there are quite a few of us from Adelaide having weight loss surgery soon:)
Hi Lia, I know can you believe it is less than two weeks now!?!!? I am doing ok on the Opti - hungry and headachy but ok. I am so glad Dr France lets us have an evening meal, I would go barmy without it; though I think I am going a little barmy focussing on that one meal all day as well::) |

| Hi I am having my op on 22 July. My doctor uses Kicstart which I assume is the same as Optifast. I have Breakfast 5/7 kick start. 2/7 1 egg 1 rye bread. Mid morning 7-8 brazil nuts. Lunch 5/7 kick start. 2/7 salad very lean meat on mountain bread. Afternoon: apple. PM 7/7 fish, chicken or red meat no mince, chops or sausages, 1-2 cups veg. Also white tea (not with milk but it is tea that is acutally called white tea) throughout the day. So I suppose they all have different diets. |

hiii! im a bandit now, but thought id pop in to see whats been happening here!
i did the optifast for two weeks. it was hard in the beginning but as long as you remind yourself that its going to make your surgery easier it makes it bearable. drinking the water helps heaps! good luck to you all :)
cheers mel:) |

My dietitian provided me with her guide to lap banding and in it it had the list of allowable foods to have whilst on opti. Coffee wasn't on the list, but it was in a "suggested menu". Having previously been a 3-4 cups of day, I have cut right back to 1, and have switched to skim milk from my previous full cream version.
Feeling a little guilty, but that has been my only "straying" from the food list.
I probably should be trying to get off it, eh?
