Mel,

squeeze a bit of lemon juice in it. Helps it go down better. or even warm it slightly.

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi all,

I've been on optifast for 1 week. I've lost 3.8 kilos. I have 1 week to go until my operation so hopefully I can lose a few more kilos. Is anyone else starving? I am starving? And it didnt help that today I had to get my pre op blood test done so I had to fast.....like I'm not hungry enough lol!!

Very very nervous about the operation, cant wait until it is all over and done with and I am back home ready to start my new life!

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Dianne, I also don't mind Optifast, I only use the Vanilla flavour as I do not like Chocolate, and I did not think I would like strawberry all the time, so just buy the Vanilla. I quite like the taste, and I do no get sick of it either. I lost 20kgs a few years ago on Optifast, but as soon as I went back to food again, I gained it all back +. Hopefully with a band that will not happen.

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
I must be one of the very few who doesnt mind the taste of opti - except strawbery, its too sweet.
Im on my second stint of opti, was worried it might not do the same job second time, but it seems to have kicked in ok.

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hey Soon! Im doing/feeling much better- thankfully cleared of SWINE flu hahaha- i have an infection of the pharynx ?!

But Dr said they will just assess how well I am on the day, and its usually only a cough that will cause problems. Thankfully not much of a cough!!

I cant believe only 5 more days to go! Im starting to get really nervous about post op pain! But i have had worse ops- i just keep telling myself that!

I have lost 8kgs now in 3.5 weeks- while its not the largest amount im so proud!! Hoping to get to 9kg by Monday

How are you doing? Enjoying optifast?

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi Gang!!

My name is Jodie and I am from a company called Lap Band for the Mind. My fellow bandster Jen and I started the company after we had Lap Band surgery ourselves in 2008. We wanted to ensure that we dealt with all of the 'mind' issues that go along with weight loss and we now have some products available for people who either are researching the Band or who are booked in to get it.

We have an eBook / MP3 pack out called The 5 Keys to Pre-Surgery Success and it is designed to prepare you for your journey.

I just wanted to quickly let you know that if you sign up for our newsletter at www.lapbandforthemind.com before 15 July, you can purchase the pack for $29.95. I thought it might interest you because you are in the pre-surgery part of your journey.

I hope you are all going well on the Optifast, it is a challenging time but the rewards are great - honestly for me, getting the Band has been one of the best decisions that I have made in my life. If ever you have any questions or queries - you can contact Jen and I at contactus@lapbandforthemi nd.com.

All the best!!

Cheers,

Jodie

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Ness,

Yes there are alternatives, you just need to discuss you intolerances with your surgeon/team prior to this phase. You are correct that some surgeons don't require it but most do. As I stated there are alternative diets/shakes/ pre op regimes that can be used.

There would be something out there for you I'm sure.I think Tony Ferguson makes a lactose free shake?
Make an appointment with a dietician & a surgen - they have really great information and that will help you make the decision.

Re:Optifast Stage Reply to this message
Hi there, I am in the final decision making stages of having the surgery and want to know if anyone has been given alternatives to the Optifast stage? I am lactose intolerant and any type of diet shake is made of whey powder (crazy lactose content) which makes me very ill - I can only have lactose free products. Am also intolerant to soy. Have heard some surgeons don't believe in this "shake" phase. Any comments?
