Pru,
I'm so glad for you that you are finally getting your journey underway. I wish you all the best with your doc, your choice and your future, I have no doubt you will be happy with your choice and your journey.
As for me, I still have restriction! Yay! I have never had restriction last this long before and I am still waiting for it to disappear. I can still eat everything, I just have to be careful how I eat and when. Mornings aren't really good for food for me.
The past week was hard, made all bad food choices while nursing Jessica, but have been back on track as she has improved. I even took her off to the doc yesterday and she was given a tet@nus shot, antibiotics and has both legs dressed and bandaged. Once the skin started coming off in thick patches I knew it was beyond what I could do.
I go for my first weight in since I have had restriction on Friday, it's going to be interesting to see what the scales say. I have been using the treadmill at the gym, though I skipped this morning because of the heat. I am hoping to be back in the pool next Monday and I can't wait! I have no doubt the weight will start moving then though!
I am so happy to hear your news though. Congratulations, and PLEASE keep me informed.

Hi Pyretta,
How are you?
Hope things are still going well for you!
I'm catching up with some folk tomorrow here in Launceston, so that'll be nice.
Saw GP last Friday, he is looking into sleeve options here in Tas for me, as that is the way I think I'll go.
I see him again this Friday, so will be good to find out and get the ball rolling!!

Cat,
next time get mum to make a gravy out of the pan juices and then you can justify having gravy for your mushies LOL. I know what you mean, pan juices are very nice.
You'll be right once you have restriction and get your journey underway properly, until then keep healing well.
My daughter will get through this, (we all will if I don't kill us first LOL) and as everyone keeps saying, it's a life lesson that she's definately learned the hard way. We all make silly mistakes, and, as long as we learn from them, they aren't mistakes they are life lessons.

Pyretta,
I had the exact same thing happen to my back. I'm bone white and stupidly sat in a boat on a lake in Nashville for several hours. I was wearing my bathers and didn't have a t-shirt on top (stupid!). I ended up with such severe burns I took 3 days off work. It felt as though the skin on my entire back had lifted and then re-set. I couldn't move! Your poor daughter..I completely empathise. I, too, was crying in agony. Luckily my partner took care of me over those days.
I'm also feeling negative about my eating because shock, horror, I spooned the juices out of the bottom of the pan tonight. Mum had cooked some minced veal, and I spooned the oily, garlicy juices into my mouth over a minute or two. Naughty Cat! I felt dismayed that I am still obsessed by food. Mind you I am starving all the time, too.
Ate my first baby food meal tonight. It was devine. lol Runny, pureed tuna and tomato. First time I've had fish in nearly 2 weeks.

Julie,
Thank you so much for your post I know you are right. Geez if anyone here had an excuse to go off the rails it has to be you, (only because I know what you have personally been going through these past few years) one of the reasons I felt like a twit for my post last night.
I am the person always saying get out into the garden, or do something else, blah blah and here I was for 5 days completely ignoring my own advice.
Thank you so much, for always being there for me.

Hey Pyretta,
I am pleased to hear the nurofen is helping your daughter's legs - which is in turn helping your struggles too!
During my almost 4yr band journey there have been many emotional upheavels to get through (as with everyone no doubting). We read all the time that we wish someone invents a band for our head/emotional hunger - it would earn them a million + !! The only advice I can share with you is what you have already done - and that is to get back on track after brushing yourself down gently! Sometimes its instant, sometimes it a few day or more.
Somehow we have to divert our emotional eating to another activity. I do try to s cr apbook or other arty stuff when I feel bad, but it doesnt always work. I am just thankful that no matter what, tomorrow is always another day!
Lots of love to You n Jess

Lynnie,
You really need to check with your surgeon and/or breathing specialist, but if you are using your CPAP every night now, you'll more than likely need it for the overnight stay in hospital.
I have been on CPAP all the way through my journey, the advice given there for the CPAP was not about Lap Banding but other gastric surgerys, as we don't have staples in our stomachs.
I hope that has clarified it for you.

Hey everyone,
A new day a better outlook. I really am sorry for my poor me post last night, i was just so emotionally drained, and I know there are people out there much worse off than I am. Carol, I really hope things are getting better for you over there, you deserve a break! I am grateful for all the support though. I really do appreciate it.
As I said, a new day, a better outlook (and less screaming from the 18 year old). I've taken the dog for a walk and pretty much got the emotional eating back under control.
Thanks every one.

Pyretta
I have just finished your thread (quiet day at work). You really have been thru alot but still have the most wonderful outlook. I look forward to continue to hear of your journey and know I can get great advice from you.
Speaking of that I have just seen the 10 top reasons thread you have posted and wondered about the CPAP section. I am on a CPAP machine each night and my surgeon did not mention anything about going off it after my op while I am healing. Do you know if this is normally the case.
Again I admire you very much and hope all is well with you.
Cheers

asprin based will work so much better for the pain of sunburn. for alo plants to work well they need to be more than 7 years old tho. My dad did the first aid post for more years than I can remember at the beach when I was a kid the BEST thing to do for sunburn is agarol. you just keep aplying it as soon as you notice the burn. It takes the heat out of it. Most times you will not even blister I have seen it work mircles. It is cheaper than anything else smells okay is a bit sticky but doesnt ruin the sheets or clothing either. Probably will have very little effect now tho. But for anybody else it is the best thing to have handy in summer.
I hope you week gets way better than it has been .

Ooh Pyretta lol! Mine is going on 17 a bit of a goth and a dopey drummer! and with her greek skin thinks she can spend half a day in the pool on a 40 deg day without any sunblock when she hasn't seen the sun in a year. I soooo hear you!
I heard the best joke last week...whats the difference between a terrorist and a teenage girl? You can negotiate with a terrorist, LOL!
Its just a temperory setback, if only i could spell temperory! Don't beat your self up over it, just put your head down and get on with it! I'm looking forward to your weigh in next week :)

Hi Pyretta,
You poor things, both of you....
Sunburn is horrid, I ended up the same way in Port Douglas a couple of years back, completely ruined our holiday.
But, the week is nearly over, so you must pop that "idiot" (your word!) grin back on your gorgeous face and off you shall go again, back on track.
It is only a hiccup Pyretta, and will not be the only one you will have on this journey.
Well, you have had quite a few already, so this is just another one and really, it is only small compared to the others you have had.
You'll be fine, you are strong and so determined, that will make you win this battle!

I am just so angry with myself at the moment I thought I'd share here. I hope no one minds.
My daughter (18 years old) considers herself a bit of a goth. Never wears dresses, doesn't do much out door activity if she can avoid it. Decided last Saturday to go to Rye beach with a group of friends. I thought is was a fantastic idea, made sure she took the sunscreen and was well covered. She comes home Saturday evening complaining for sunburnt legs, I take one look at it and know it's bad. Sure enough the next morning it's looking worse. I treated it for 2 days with just aloe vera cut straight from the garden and keep her hydrated.
By Monday she is in a world of pain, crying, screaming at me every time I tell her she needs to keep moving. The blisters that have come up have been weeping everywhere for the past few days and I am don''t know how may times I have though whether or not to take her to hospital.
This has gone on all week so far and I am so emotionally drained, I have finally lost my idiot grin. I haven't been eating right, grabbing for easy foods, comfort eating, not even having proper meals all week. My return to the gym last week has been on hold all of this week and I just feel like cr@p. I know I have to get myself back on track.
I can't believe how easy it has been to just go into auto self destruct mode with emotional eating taking over, and I really dislike myself for doing it.
Anyway, now that I have vented, hopefully I can get myself back on track tomorrow. She is now on nurafen, which seems to control the pain better than panadol and I'm using an aloe vera spray so I don't have to touch her.
Here's hoping for an easier day tomorrow.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.
Damn about that bloody ladder though Apple. Might have to get some of those sturdy milk crates and stack them up in a ramp type arrangement to get you in!
Belly, you betcha it's going to be lower, eating A LOT less than I was and being active again! It's showing in the face, it just have to show on the scales.
Pru, you're right, this is the week to get doing things and out of holiday mode. I look forward to hearing about your first swim over there.

Belly,
Thank you so much for your message last night.
Yes I am much happier than i think i have ever been on my banding journey, I think because now i realize it CAN work for me as long as I work with it. After 14 months of weight gain and no real restriction this past 3 or so weeks have been a real eye opener.
You are right in saying you haven't seen me post my weight for a while, it was a very sad experience at my last weigh in to get back over 170kg. 170.4kg to be exact. I can post it now though because I am confidant that I am shedding the kilos.
I'm back at the gym, have now ordered my new swim suit and the grin still hasn't left my face!

Hi Pyretta,
I was just having a readback through several pages here to see how you are going. Loved your solstice message, very politically correct and innoffensive, hehehehe.
i just wanted to say, i've never seen you sound so happy. I'm really pleased you're going great with your restriction.
I know you have regained a few kg over the last year and a half. I don't know that i've seen your current weight for a while, it just gets too depressing, i know. But i hope its all on the turn around for you next month when you weigh in.
Its so lovely to see all the hopes and well wishes people send your way. You are one of the most hard working and determined people i've ever encountered, and i'm sure 96kg will be well within your reach in 2009.
keep grinning!

Hi Pyretta
So glad to hear you finally have restriction and are on the right track. Its about time it worked out for you!
I find it interesting that the banks are offering debit cards like they are something new. I have had a VISA debit card through my credit union for over 20 years now, and have never, and will never, have a credit card. But Leanne is right - shop around.
Cheers

Well I didn't know the Commonwealth offers one too. I actually prefer Commonwealth Bank but left them (although I still have an account with them) because at the time they weren't providing any Debit Cards.
Just a tip if you have a pensioner's account with St George no fees are added except over the limit ATM fees so see if Commonwealth offer the same.
I checked with ANZ and they didn't have that option, last year they were charging a $5 a month service charge of if you spent a certain amount in the month the $5 wouldn't be charged, not suitable for me because some months I don't even use my debit card to purchase things.
I hate ANZ, their webiste banking isn't as user friendly as Commonwealth and St George and their direct credits don't go in until late afternoon. My housemate pays his rent for me into that and it never goes in until after 3pm. My housemate doesn't have a problem with them because he doesn't do internet banking and doesn't withdraw money on the same day as I do when I'm expecting a payment. Also when I was working my pay wouldn't go into ANZ until after 3pm too. Commonwealth and St George direct credits and direct debits go in and out around 6am in the morning, even earlier depending where you are located on their huge daily list.
As with anything, shop around for the best deal.
