Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Hi Pyretta,

I don't write on the boards often, but have read them for months. You have been, and continue to be, an inspiration to me. I have already been banded, but it was in part some of your posts that gave me the courage to take further steps into what has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.

Thankyou - and the best of luck for Wednesday.

Cheers,

Kaeli

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
HI Pyretta

Your message brought tears to my eyes. We have made so many wonderful friends on here and thru this site. I have a sister in America and brother in New Zealand who I dont see or have contact with and I honestly feel so close to those I have met in Perth from here and wouldnt be without them. We share so much more than just weight related issues - it is fantastic and by far one of the best benefits from being banded. They are not like family to me they ARE family.

Love and best wishes
Shaz

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
I just wanted to say again a big thank you to everyone that has signed the Pyretta support page.

Thanks also to Susan (aussiesusanj3) who has brought all of the names together again for me to read. I'll be carrying those messages of support with me on Wednesday, thinking of all of you that are already banded and those still waiting to be.

I have arranged for someone to come on here and let you know how it all went as soon as I am out of surgery. If it's late in the evening and My ID pops up, it'll either be my daughter or my husband (if I can teach him how to use this forum between now and then).

Again thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Well I've just been on page one again and read the support thread. I can't believe how many people have signed it, and I recognize most of the ids too, which in itself is amazing. I hadn't realized I'd spoken to so many people.

I do have to acknowledge one of the posts though, that of Julie's (sc ra pinghannah).

As Julie stated, we met just before her first banding 2 1/2 years ago. She was the first bandit I had ever met and I have been in the privileged position of sharing her, at times very eventful, journey. A lot of the advice I give out comes from my connection to Julie, and other bandits, who have had both struggles and successes.

Julie doesn't post much, and there are people here who would prefer she didn't post at all. She has a forthrightness about her that can be confronting at times, but I feel we all need a swift kick now and again and Julie sure doesn't hold back when she feels that way too.

I have to admit that I honestly feel closer to Julie than I do to the majority of my siblings. We have grown together as sisters, sharing weight and family issues with each other as they arose. We have laughed, cried and even fought, but she has always been there for me whenever I have needed either a a shoulder or a big kick in the butt.

Standing as Julie's witness at her wedding on Sunday made me realize just how far both of us have come in those 2 1/2 years and I can't wait to revisit just how far we have both come in another 2 1/2 years.

Hi Pyretta,

As usuall you astound me with your success!

I hope you manage to crack your 130 for your op. You are certianly putting in the hard yards. And what a treat that would be for you! If there's a prize for walking the longest road, it'll be 2.8kg in 7 days, and it'll be yours.

Your Doc sounds like a great person, he must be very interested and commited to helping you along to have taken the time to read Prof O'brien's book so he would understand better. What a gem!

All the best

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Well I went to my GP this morning for my regular fortnightly weigh in and chat. He is also my councilor to help me with my depression.

We had a long talk about next week and he understands a
lot more now that he has read Dr. O'Brien's book and he is looking forward to helping me on this journey too. We had a few tears, as I tend to do whether I'm happy or sad and he is so glad that I have the support here too.

I was prepared for the weigh in to be around 134 or more but was blown away when I came in at 132.8kg. He even re calibrated the scales and weighed me again. That was a loss of 3.6kg in just two weeks and neither of us were prepared for it.

It's still 2.8kg from where the surgeon wants me, but I figure I've got 5 days to push myself in the gym to make it. I've been doing an extra 15 minutes on the treadmill so today I upped it to 20 minutes at 5.5km/h with an incline of 3. The heart rate was a steady 156bmp and the sweat was pouring off me. If I can keep that up I think I might just make 130! That would be awesome.

I can't remember the last time I was in the 120s. I know I was 126kg when I had my daughter 17 years ago, but the weight has just gone up since then.

It really is happening!!!

Dorreen,

I know! I just checked out the surgery dates and couldn't believe how close it is. You are going in on Monday and will probably be home by the time I head in on Wednesday morning.

I hope your nerves aren't as frayed as mine seem to be at the moment. I'm sure we will catch up before Wednesday, I'll bet you will be here on Sunday night unable to sleep.

I don't know that I'm looking for the skinnier side, but I'll definately be seeing you and everyone else on the healthier, happier side.

Oopsinsane,

Thank you for following my journey, there really are some remarkable people on this site.

I'm pretty sure you might have joined up at: http://www.ozband.com/

If you want to read the latest posts and see the photos you'll need to log into: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ozband/

The site you joined up on was originally started, but the forum wasn't big enough so they moved the conversations over to a yahoo group. At least that is my understanding of it. It was before my time on there LOl

I wish you well on your journey.

Hi Pyretta,
I've been following your journey on here. Congratulations on your surgery date, you are a very deserving woman (and very patient!).
I joined up with Ozband so that I could view your photos and journey records on there but I don't know what I've done wrong as all of the topics didn't have any posts more recent that January. have I found the wrong site?

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Liz,

You're on! Wow size 16, I used to joke with my husband that I would get my motorcycle license when I get down to a size 16, thinking it was going to be ever just a dream. Now with less than a week left until I'm banded I'm finally realizing it is a real possibility.

The last time I was a size 16 I was 12 years old and just starting secondary school. That was 30 years ago! Sure puts this whole journey into perspective doesn't it?

You started your banding life on a very special day for me and I can't believe how much you have progressed all ready. You have to be thrilled with your weight loss up to now.

I think I might have to start studying motorcycle riding techniques soon, I suppose I can practice on the push bike. LOL

Shedding a tear is not sooky - tis a good thing. I know I always feel better after a big sob:)

To me over the last few months, Banding = Bonding and I thinks thats what most ppl do when they share their experiences like this. Tis really letting down your guard in the most intimate way and letting others see the real you and not the outside persona.
Pyretta, you have given so much of yourself from what I have seen on this forum and everyone is just so glad that we can finally give some of that support back to you.
You go girl!

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Well

All I can say is ditto to what I last posted.

I've come home from the gym, physically spent, turn on the computer and find the support thread. Those that know me know what the inevitable outcome was. I've been sitting here for the past 30 minutes or more trying to compose this message through the sobbing. Yes I am such a sook.

The unconditional support you all give is something that I have never experienced before and have a very hard time accepting.

I feel so humbled that you all care so much. Thank you.

I think I might just take some time to try and compose myself and log back on later.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
WOW,

Thanks guys.

I was on earlier today and didn't even see that this thread had been used, it must have been hiding in the black hole.LOL

I am just so glad to have the opportunity to share this experience with you all. Since I first went on waiting lists I have had nothing but support from banding sites. Without that support there is no way I would have made it this far.

There is no way I could hope to repay what I have received in the way of support but I hope offering advice on this and other boards I can at least repay some of it.

Every single person here, banded or not, is such an inspiration. Normal people taking control of their life, regardless of the circumstance that got them to this.

Louise,

The cart can be a very heavy thing to pull along on your own, especially when the baggage keeps falling off.

Those triggers you mentioned, at least now you recognize them and that is most of the battle one, now it just a matter of not letting them get the better of you. You know you ARE strong enough to fight them.

It might be time for the teens to learn a few home truths?
