Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Pyretta... it all sounds good. All positive and all heading in the right direction which is fabulous. Dont you love it when you wander around and lose all track of time... I have done that a lot lately. And I know exactly where you are coming from with the sore hips... mine are shocking at the moment. Knees and feet are ok, but the hips are killing me still.

It all sounds great Pyretta... as you said, it seems to be working for you at last.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Oh my, it's been a month since I updated here, where to start.

I have been really happy with my level of fill, I have gotten used to the 6.5ml and am now PBing a lot less, having retrained myself how to eat small bites slowly.

I took my bimonthly pictures on the 4th and noticed a definite change in body shape but really hadn't noticed any weight loss, I must admit to being very slack in the exercise department and not swimming or going to the gym as often as I should have.

I went off to the Bariatric Centre yesterday and had a consult with Anna. She and I were both very pleased that, even with the lack of regular exercise and the fact this was my first ever afternoon weigh in, I had shed 3kg according to their scales. That now takes me down to 163.7kg. Still a long way to go but one of the best losses I've ever recorded with the band.

I left there around 3:30pm, walked to Windsor station, got off at Flinders Street and just kept walking around looking at things until I realized it was 6:30pm. I was wondering why my knees and feet were hurting, no wonder! I wish now I'd put my pedometer on before I'd left home.

I finally got home around 8pm and was so tired went to bed at 9:30pm. Woke at 1:30am and was so awake couldn't get back to sleep! I actually felt like taking another walk, that was until I tried to stand up. My hips and knees were both so very sore, I had to take painkillers. I think I may have overdone yesterday.

So that's my update I promised. Still feeling very positive. I am sorry I didn't get on last night.

Thanks Pyretta,
I hope your week is going well :o)
I have spent quite a few Easters in Buchan, a great place to drink a long weekend away!
I agree though, long term, a bigger town is required for me! Orbost is just right :o)
Have a good weekend

Beck,

Awesome weight loss to break your plateau, congratulations.

I would dearly love to move to Bairnsdale, I spent a few good summers in Buchan as a child but really need a town a bit bigger than that now LOL.

Enjoy your clothes shopping!! ;)

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Pyretta,
A HUGE congrats on your weight loss. I will have to email Liz with the news! I will tell her youre moving to Bairnsdale when she gets her butt back on here too!!! LOL
I swim most mornings myself and find I lose cm's, but build muscle, but unless I walk too, the scales dont usually change.
I have been stuck weight wise for about 3-4 weeks, and after a fill on Wed, I feel I am at a good level and have broken my plateu with a 2.9kg loss in 5 days! Hopefully that slows or I will have lots of clothes shopping to do!
Keep up the good work Pyretta :-)

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Jenny,

The group I used to mention was head banders:
HEADBANDERS is a support group for Australians who have undergone Lap Banding and are still experiencing problems with issues such as "Head Hunger" depression eating and the like. It will work alongside the various banding support groups but with particular focus on those of us with ongoing emotional problems which are weight and Band related.

http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/HeadBanders

Now there is also a commercial site: Need to get into the right head space?
www.lapbandforthemind.com

I hope whoever needs the help gets it.

Hi Pyretta,

I need to pick your brain.

If I remember quite a while ago I think you mentioned a group or website for head hunger (someone I know needs help) can you set me in the direction.

Thanks Jenni

Apple,

I am glad I had the hot dog but I must say it didn't taste half as nice as I remembered them. Tried having one of the buns as a roll today and just couldn't keep it down so I gave up and settled for a salad.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Belly,

My daughter's sunburn is much better, but she's still not over it. We have been very lucky that she has youth on her side so there will be no permanent scarring. Her legs are peeling still, though now it's normal type peeling and they are still red. She has to moisturize twice a day and the doc wants to see her again next week to get a good look at the new freckles that have come up. The risk of melanoma is very high with the amount of burn she had.

I wish I could get back to 30 laps a morning. Struggling to get 15 done at the moment but I will build it back up. It really does get the day off to a better start than just getting on with the day.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
I can fit in 1 hot dog if it is one of those tiny tiny buns. I can fit in most of a pluto dog, and yes I did have one at the show *LOL* You can purchase those dogs on sticks at IGA over here in WA and do them in the over, less fat that way. The son still loves them.
I am so glad things are moving the right way and you are back in your beloved water Pyretta :)

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
That is good Pyretta... all good. Yes, maybe 0.5ml might be your sweet spot... you never know unless you try.

I love hot dogs... haven't had one for three bloody years... also love pluto pups, could kill one of those right now if I had one in front of me. Bring on the Royal Easter show... might have one there if I get there this year.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
sorry, can't add up, it was 1k in a 50 meter pool so it must have been 20 laps! For some reason i got it into my head the pool was 100m long for a moment there! I'll blame lack of food, hehehe

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Hi Pyretta,

I was just wondering how your daughters sunbrun is coming along? Hopefully she has recovered or close to by now :)

And i'm happy to see you managed to get back in the pool! Its great for stress isn't it, just stroke stroke stroke breath, all your worries get shut off for a while, gives you a chance to just tune out. I used to like doing laps, i could only do 10 (1km) but it was good :)

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Mel,

Yes the fill is still working, though not as well as it was. i think I may be looking at getting a bit of a top up on the 13th when i go back.

Don't get me wrong I still have restriction and I love it, but I think I could do with a bit more. I am still able to eat all foods, though struggle a lot with chicken. Even soft bread rolls go down as long as I don't try and eat them before 1pm and I only take very small nibbles.

Being Superbowl today was a real test. I would have normally consumed at least 4 hot dogs during the match but today, none! I did have one for dinner tonight and then a piece of apple pie, which makes me think I could do with just a little bit more.

I find I can't drink as much water when I am swimming as I used to, I am sipping instead of gulping it down, but at that time of the morning, nothing wants to go down. I have to say I am enjoying being back in the pool, even if I can't do the same activity I used to, I know I can work my way back up to it.

I hope you are struggling less on your journey too.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Thanks everyone, I have to say I don't think I've been this happy about my banding journey since the very begining.

I did have doubts that it was ever going to work for me, but after my horror week last week and eating everything I could I am just so happy with the outcome. I hope once I hit the pool on Monday, and the fact that I am watching what goes in my mouth, that I can keep this sort of loss happening for a while.

A very encouraged, Pyretta

You are so helpful to all of us on here, you really do deserve a community award or something! But weight loss..what's a better reward? I'm so pleased all your port troubles have finally resolved and your back on the lapband wagon. Great stuff!
