Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Jen,

I have a great set of bathroom scales here that I will be getting back on once I get below 150kg again. At the moment only my husband uses them to see how much weight his is putting on :P

I was thinking of getting a charm bracelet but I really don't need that kind of thing. I don't wear much jewelry. My reward for each 10kg is actually doing things I have struggled with before.

I go up to my mountain and I have challenged myself to walk to the summit a little quicker each time I shed 10kg. I think that is motivation enough.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Pyretta, i'm glad it wasn't too awful...you know it can be hard to eat out especially if you feel anxious or stressed as it's as though the band tightens up on you. In these times just nibble and have a coffee and as you say eat when you get home.

I bought some fantastic scales on deals direct, they are round glass ones and were $29.95 plus 9 delivery. They go down in 100g increments which makes keeping motivated so much easier. Perhaps they would be a great reward for you when you get to 150? The only problem is the glass is cold...lol, they looked flimsy to me on the picture but theyre really accurate and sturdy.

Your going well Pyretta, you have already achieved so much. Have you decided on a reward for each 10kg?

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Jen,

I got through yesterday pretty unscathed, which is a bonus. Strange how family can bring out the worst in people though. I wasn't able to keep any food down at all yet when it was all over and done with I came home and made an absolute pig out of myself.

I love my slow cooker and make sure we have one or two meals in it a week. I like to write out a menu for a week and then go and buy the groceries for it. I find I actually save money that way too.

You'll be in double digits before the middle of the year I'm sure. I know it's one of my aims too, but at the moment I'm trying hard to get down to 150kg again. Taking it just 10kg at a time. My last (unofficial weigh in was 156kg)

I'm sure I've already said how happy I am that your bypass is working for you. Stay positive and I have no doubt you'll achieve all you want.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Pyretta,

10 kids..holy cow!!! my neighbor has six and that seems terrifying enough. I know what you mean about the seatbelt, I couldn't use the rear seatbelts in our ute, but now their fine. In my car, prior to the surgery the bottom of my tummy was pressed against the steering wheel and no it's nowhere near it, that's just a fantastic feeling to just plonk myself in the car without feeling squashed in.

I think preparing dinner ahead in the slow cooker is my saving grace on busy days, at least regardless of how my day goes, I have a dinner rich in lean protein and a mountain of veg ready to go. In January I had four sessions on hypnotherapy and i'm sure that they contributed to my new attitude to food as well as the slow changes that have come about since the op. I've always shovelled in chocolate, I always felt like I "had" to have it. Now it's odd, it doesn't taste that great...my tastes have turned more savory..blows me away. I think it's the removal of the stomach, some things just don't taste the same. I've never been a coffee lover and now I prefer it to tea and if i'm peckish I just crack open a tin of flavoured tuna and eat it with a fork. Everyone surgery comes with sideeffects or some price to pay, isn't that just life, I think mine is manageable so far...it doesn't matter how fast you are losing you always want it to move faster. I'm desperate to get to double digits and i'm 2.7kg away from that goal. I'll be screaming my joy through a few threads when I get there..lmao.

Don't worry about family, mine would always conjur a compliment that was a double edged insult....my inlaws are pretty good, my brother in law..bless him is the best. He got out of his car and said "bloody hell, look at you"...I love him!!! Big tough looking bikey with a long red goatie and tatts, hes a man of few words but he really made my day. Keep the positive comments close to your heart and brush away anything not helpful.

Have a great time at lunch
Jen

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Jen,

I am so happy the bypass is working well for you. You do sound a lot happier since you have had it. Organized, when it comes to food, is good. I find a usually slip up if I haven't planned what's for meals.

I'm doing okay i think. I am happy with my restriction, though it is probably just a smidge tighter than I wanted, I am learning to live with it and the weight is dropping. I have really noticed a difference in the past 4 weeks or so. I can even fit into a normal sized seatbelt (I had mine ex tended so I could drive).

I'm going to my father's 80th birthday luncheon today, (it's easier to have a meal out than prepare a party for his 10 kids, their partners and the grandkids LOL) so I'm expecting a few comments. Though with my family, I doubt many of them will be positive.

I am so pleased you are happier now and the weight is coming off. I am looking forward to the day you reach your goal weight. You deserve it.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
How are you Pyretta? Seems ages since I posted a message to you. Have you got to your sweetspot yet? Everything going smoothly?

I've finally found my groove with this bypass, i'm checking labels so that everything has less than 10g of fat per 100g and that's working well. I'm enjoying some new foods and experimenting with some spices and chilli, yum. I can now eat fruit much easier, so i've always got a mandarine or an apple in my bag and I take Tuna to Go's out with me. I'm trying to be more org *** ed but either way the weight is coming off.....I sooo look forward to some new clothes sometime soon.

Well I hope your well.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Judy,

I'm going along fine at the moment. The weight is still coming off, though slowly, but downward is always good.

200g in 2 months isn't really a bad figure and now with the top up, I'm sure you are on track for some more losses. If you don't think your weight loss is fast enough you can always make an earlier appointment. Just be careful of too much fill, but you know that anyway.

I really hope this is a good amount for you and the rest of your journey is trouble free.

Hey Py,
Congrats on the .05 down - it's a loss and that is great!!!
Have you got any get togethers planned for the near future? I went to the last band camp and found it so nice to be able to talk openly about my band with like minded people. Would love to catch up with some fellow bandits! Have a great weekend! P1xie xo

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Time for another update.

I was back at the Avenue today for my monthly weigh in and this time I was hoping for a touch more fill. I'd realized my portions had increased and I was actually eating more and not taking as much care.

The weigh in wasn't as bad as it could have been, down 0.5kg in 4 weeks so now I'm sitting at 160.5kg, but as you can see it wasn't great either.

I discussed what I had been eating and my activity with Anna and we both agreed to tweak my fill by adding an extra 0.3mls.

So after a weekend away on my mountain with great company (I walked to the summit again and chopped the firewood by hand as well) and now a little extra in the tank, I'm feeling pretty on top of things again.

Here's hoping to better weight loss in the next four weeks.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Hi Mel,

Things are pretty good, though now I know what a good fill is, I also know that I could do with a bit of a top up. I've noticed in the past week or so I'm not having to chew as much and I'm eating more, especially in the mornings, when I could barely get anything down before.

I have noticed I get night cough if I eat or even drink after 7pm, so I don't, which has been a huge adjustment for me. It was always evenings I would snack.

I've got a few weeks before my next weigh in, I doubt it will be as good as the last one, but I'm not in a race, as long as it's coming off I don't care at what speed.

I hope all is well with you and Singapore is treating you well.

Jan,

The Labne I make with Full fat Greek yogurt. It didn't taste as nice as the low fat yogurt and the added calories were negligible.

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Hi Pyretta,

Got a Labne question lol. The recipe that's on page 2 of the Recipe thread for Labne, is that the one you make? It states to use low fat yoghurt but I read somewhere that it's not as nice as using the full fat stuff. I've just returned from Dubai and the stuff was on every menu - I had it daily for brekky, absolutely delicious. Love it - so band friendly too. Yummy with savories - yummier with sweet things. (like dates, figs, nuts, honey etc OMGG!!!!)

Cheers,

Re:PYRETTA Reply to this message
Judy,

You might have to exercise some of that "self control" that we all should have until you can get in to see Audrey next month. Not easy I know. I don't think anyone expects weight loss over Easter, it's more of harm minimization!

I hope you get a handle on your over eating soon and that the fill you get next month will help.

My Easter was good, though I was surprised that I could eat hot crossed buns and probably ate too many (self control my butt!) The scales are still going down with every visit to the Avenue so hopefully it won't be too long before I'm able to use mine at home.

I am still noticing changes in my body "shape" almost every day. This morning it was wrinkles where they had never been before. LOL I don't mind because it means the fat is going, though I'm pretty sure there is going to be more than one "melted candle" on here before too long.
