Pyretta
I have pain in the joints including the feet
I find walking and exercising (by myself )using a noodle in the pool really gives me a lift and reduces the joint pain and stiffness

Thanks Pyretta....
lap band I've heard many stories but all is good .I know a friend that has lost 35kilos in 14 months and another who has lost nothing she's on 130kg... i guess everybodies different .....I did the trial Paragastric Balloon on the 1 July 2009 am still in a bit of pain but i have lost 16kg in 6 weeks am happy with the weight loss cos i can eat anything ei (real food)only 1 cup at each time . It's inbetween a lapband and a sleeve ....i was desparate to lose weight.. i was going crazy ..but i really wanted the sleeve but couldn't afford it.. so the trial was my best bet cost free....i am taking it day by day and hopefully will reach under 100kg soon ....
keep up the good work and remember ... there are heaps of Us going through the same things regarding food , emotions , relationships ,kids and life in general .....
A high 5 to all of Us trying our hardest.....
WE CAN DO IT .... AND WE ARE GORGEOUS ....
From LOVELYSLIM in process ....... |

Mel,
I'll stay on 2 a day for now. Healthy low carb meal at night, now that I'm back into the swing. I'll see how i go with the supplies I've got and then decide whether or not to buy any more.
It's been pretty good this time actually, hubby has taken the Opti option with me.

Gawd its bloody hard work isn't it... a smidge in, a smidge out, never ends.
Are you staying on the opti, or are you going to see how this fill level goes?

Well, I went off to the Bariatric centre again today. I've been having a lot of issues with emotional eating and going back to old eating habits since the little unfill I had 4 weeks ago.
I convinced Anna to put back half of the 0.3ml she took out, talk about tweaking. Who would have thought such a small amount would make a difference.
I've been back on the Opti since last Sunday or I'm sure I would have registered a gain. The only reason for the Opti really was to get my head back out of the emotional eating and it seems to have done that well. I showed a 100gram loss which is why Anna agreed to the slight increase.
I've given the gym the flick and now walk for an hour every second day with my dog. She seems to appreciate the fact she's not left home alone now, but I am finding a lot of pain in my left hip afterward, which is why I only walk every second day. I'm giving the body a little time to recover.

Thanks for the encouragement, though it feels it's a long way off yet, I do KNOW I will achieve it.

Tracey,
So glad the scales are moving down for you gain. 89kg is awesome and still just a dream for me. The doc thinks I won't be able to maintain under 100kg but I intend to prove him wrong!! I still haven't set a goal weight, I don't know that I will, I just know it will only have two digits!

Dorothey,
I'm still not getting a full cuppa down in the morning. I've probably only drunk 3/4 of my cuppa from this morning and that took nearly an hour while I was phaffing around. I must say though it didn't sit as uncomfortably as it has been.
I really need this band to work, I waited so long for it and know just how privileged I am to get it through the public system. I've had enough go wrong with it already that it just has to work!
Hang in there Dorothey, I think we all wish we could do this without the help of the band.

Nel,
I was banded years ago, the only problem was it didn't work for the first 14 months while we got a lot of stuff sorted out. (infections and faulty ports)
I hope your weigh in in 3 weeks shows a significant loss for you.
You'll be weighing yourself at home in no time.

Hi Pyretta, after reading through so many posts I thought you had been banded years ago... Im only new to the forum about a month now and recently banded - 16th July. Ive not weighed myself yet as I dont have a scale that gets the whole of my weight on it, I think my left leg doesnt fit. Any way I started out at 170.something at my first visit with dr Dumbrell in January and at the hospital weigh-in it was 161.74kg although I had weighed myself in town and was 165.36kg the day before... so I don't know what I'll be when I go for my checkup in 3 weeks.. Im going to go off dr d's scale as I know what I started with from that at the begining of my journey..
Any way from reading the post it looks like you are back on track and I'm sure all will continue to go well.

Time for another update.
I want and saw Anna last Thursday and we had quite a discussion on what I was eating and how I was feeling. She thought I might be a tad tight, but given my problems with getting restriction in the first place and the risk of infection every time a needle goes in, I talked her around to giving it a bit longer.
For the past week I have been keeping a food journal and this morning was booked in for a barium swallow. The results from either weren't good. By keeping the journal I realized the only food staying down was liquid and the swallow this morning showed that even after 10 minutes only a trickle of the barium was getting through.
Anna didn't hesitate and removed 0.2mls of fluid from my band and I felt the difference instantly (the barium went through). I'm now on the basic diet (as Anna calls it), if you can kill it, or you can grow it then you can eat it, everything else is off the menu. No bread, pasta, cheese or chocolate.
Dinner tonight has been a Greek salad, with a little feta and I've eaten about 1 1/2 cups, more than I've eaten of anything for week. I just hop the weight doesn't start creeping on again.
current weight 153.7kg

Time for a bit of an update I think.
I haven't been to the Bariatric centre for about 3 weeks now, last visit I was down to 155.7kg. Since that visit I've been slowly getting the hang of banded life, (after all this time you'd hope so) leaving food on the plate, taking only soft food (and small nibbles at that)before midday.
For a while there I was PBing at least once a day but I now only PB when I'm not concentrating on what I'm eating. I still have to be careful with pasta and rice. Ham or bacon are still not my friends, but I can eat just about any other food as long as I am careful and go slow.
I took my regular monthly photos this morning and couldn't see a lot of difference between this month and last month, but I wasn't expecting to see a lot, even though I can feel bits of me are hanging differently. Comparing them to January though there was a marked difference.

Julie,
I figured you'd be pretty bushed after yesterday. I wasn't even sure you'd have driven back yesterday.
I understand and hope you have a restful day today.
