I'm just thinking outside the box...lol
If those bloody germs don't take the hint when you take several courses of anti-biotics and remove your water proof bandage..then they need a send off party! |

Well... my work today involved a lot of the final stuff for the big five oh party this weekend up the Hunter... crazy stuff. The other work was reading the board papers for the fourth quarter before the next meeting.. boring, but also interesting to see how we are going to deal with the economic downturn in retail... boring but without a few interesting things to digest.
Pyretta... I am jealous!!! Wish I was going to town with you tomorrow to see Lynda and Mon... how much fun that would be to turn up... if I wasn't so busy I would jump a shuttle... lmao!!!!

I'll stick with the red wine. I'd say Bourbon and cola but haven't been game to have one of those since banding.

Apple,
Thanks a lot, and that's pretty much what I told the surgeon today. I was resigned to the fact that hospitalization was probably the best option, but he is happy with the way my body is fighting it out here so I'm not complaining.
I've done the big vent, cry, scream and hubby still loves me! Really I am okay with what's happening, I don't like it and yeah I am frustrated, but I'm still a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.

Julie,
You are right of course. The op was the 6th of November. Have to admit to not thinking totally straight at the moment though i don;t think I can blame it on the anesthetic this far out from surgery. LOL

Judy,
Unfortunately no. I wasn't started on the antibiotics until 8 days post surgery, which gave it a few days head start on my. Never mind we seem to be on top of it for now, just have to keep it that way and get ahead a little bit more.

Hi Pyretta
Oh..how much can happen to one person!!
I was in hospital 3 wks post op with a port site wound infection and on very heavy duty antibiotics in a drip for 5 days. The time is hospital was so boring I was crying with frustration on the last day. The infection site was very slow to heal and even a wk after I left hospital it was touch and go whether or not the doc would have to remove the port or not.
Despite only having had the port for 3 weeks I had grown somewhat attached to the thing, and so my infection site very slowly closed over and now is completely healed thank goodness! These infections can be very hard to get on top of the doc said, and mine looked like to could go either way so I was really lucky it chose to heal!
You really do not deserve this complication and I can only imagine your frustration levels Pyretta, it is so disheartening for you!
What a grossly unfair setback :(

Hey Pyretta
Think you did a typo...your porty replacement was 6th November wasnt it - not October? Anyway, I am sooo pleased they have it under control and even if you do have to go to hospital for the iv therapy, then consider it a little holiday. The food is yummy in the Avenue, and dont forget their free wireless internet and the wine with meals :)
Take it easy whilst in the City tomorrow...no kicking up your heels you witchy woman :)

Mel,
Glad to see you getting some work done today :P
Yeah I have to say this is more painful than any of the ops previously too which isn't helping, and as much as I have been resting, I'm going out to lunch tomorrow with Linda (wiccawedding) and Monica. Monica has a few days to kill on her way to Tassie and I couldn't miss meeting her.
I've arrange to meet them both at Flinders Street and we'll just walk across the road to Fed Square. My daughter has a course interview in the city tomorrow so she'll meet us there too.
It'll be nice just to get out and feel human again.

Pyretta,
I'm so sorry to hear about the infections. I truly hope that should there be a need for you to return to hospital, then that is the very LAST time you will need to be there. I admire your stamina and positive attitude. It has certainly been less than an ideal journey for you.
I know how strong and determined you are, and I just know that eventually you will start on the path to the new you. It is such a shame that you have had so many hurdles.
I wish you well and hope that all is cleared and underway for you very very soon. |

Time for another update.
I know I haven't been saying much about me on here lately and that's mainly because I really didn't know what to say. I didn't want to be a drama queen but didn't want to understate what was happening either so:
Since the surgery on October 6 to replace the port I have been having a few dramas, first with the wound, it became infected, that oozing in the begining it was doing was just the start of the infection. We now have that wound infection under control with some serious antibiotics.
However, there is also an internal infection, which seems to have stabilized while I am on these antibiotics but doesn't seem to be going away.
I have been given another week on the antibiotics to see if the internal infection is can actually be beaten by them, if not I'll be in hospital for at least 5 days on IV antibiotics fighting the infection. We aren't even thinking about the what ifs if that fails.
To say I am disappointed and upset is probably an understatement, but I'm not giving up on this bloody thing. I waited too damn long to get it and I'm going to keep fighting until I can make it work.
It's coming up to 14 months since I was banded and I am going to keep fighting to get this weight loss journey heading in the right direction.

Sassy,
I'm so glad to hear your wound has healed well now and you are well on your way, fantastic weight loss too. You should be very proud of all you have achieved so far. I have no doubt you'll achieve your goals a lot sooner than you thought.
I have no doubt my weight loss will come when everything has settled down. For some of us, we are just off to slow starts. LOL
