Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
Jen I can't really join you in TF at the moment with Mum being here etc but.......when she goes home I'm thinking of doing a month or more on it. I'm not doing too bad at the moment, I lost 3.5kgs over 5 weeks after I had the last fill but I put on 0.5kgs on holiday........that has gone now thankfully. I need to go and get another top up before Christmas.

So if you are up for a TF stint in mid January I'm your girl!

Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
Jen my mum does TF and finds it pretty easy. It just depends on the person. The feeling of letting loss it so strong when you know it is your last run at it before surgery and with such a long stretch the temptation is so much for you I know how hard it can be. We had from about May knowing we wanted to do something and June making apoitments until surgery late November/ December. So a fair gap there. We tended to look at the optifast as it was not like a diet as such but weight gone for good as once the surgry happened it would never come back. But then we never looked at the surgery as a way to lose weight either but a way to keep it off. I know an odd way to the way most people look at it. But again I do not face to tiny little eating machines knee high around me all day.

Kaili,

Sorry you ended up walking alone yesterday. I fully intended going in but we were at a wedding on Saturday and to make a long story short ended up oversleeping. We have another wedding to go to next week, so I will try to behave and get there on Sunday..

Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
Thanks karen, hmmmm not sure. All these years of being overweight and I have always had a reasonable level of fitness when it comes to walking and steps and ladders etc. but this painting i've been doing has got me winded. The ladder is difficult, i'm finding it hard to bend over and sitting on my knees is impossible. I feel so unwell and unfit. I'm out of breath easily and feel like all the weight I have put on is around my waist.

I'm a bit shocked to be honest, i've never slept during the day but I find myself nodding off if the little one has a nap in the afternoon and find any excuse to sit. AAaargh, i'm back to walking tomorrow, that will lift my spirits and get me moving more I hope. Just a bit surprised I guess, it's sort of crept up on me with thinking about my bypass operation i've dropped the ball.

What's your opinion on the Tony Ferguson? that's two shakes and dinner that has no carbs.

Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
4 days for the sugar cravings to leave your body Jen. For the odd person 5 days. But that is if you replace all 3 meals per day and have NO fruit, jsut the allowed veggies and stock cube soup and diet jelly and cordial or soft drink. Henc I never do the 4 day opti challenges all that suffering the quit NO way NO how *LOL* I did 3 months of optifast pre surgery the male of the species did 14 weeks. Both of us did about 7 months on it when we droped huge numbers 15 years ago when I wanted to get pregnant and did with our twins. To be honest the first week is hard, the second week is pretty annoying, but after that it is just something that never bothered me one little bit. I could long term do optifast with ease. Now those 4 day challenges no way as I said that is all suffering *LOL* The reality tho is I do NOT have a pair of kids your age tho who constantly eat on top of me. My kids are at the age that they can fend for themselves to a large degree though the first few difficult weeks. You would not have that. So it would not be as easy for you. It is not as easy either on Adrian as it was on me he found being around food far more difficult than I did. I could sit next to somebody eating anything after the first 2 weeks and it never bothered me, it still bothered him tho. Pyretta is the queen of optifast around here tho. Oh 2 shakes and a meal per day is PURE torture in my book, you are hungry all the time like that. No ketosis as your body is not starving.

Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
Hi everyone, hope your all well and not scrambling as I am to paint and clean in preparation for christmas....can't wait to lug the tree out of the shed...gotta love it.

Now, I have a question if any of you can help me here with suggestions. As all of you know i'm waiting for a bypass but in the meantime I have no restriction and have been eating like the world is coming to an end and not fitting in to my jeans..oh who am I kidding, i'm not even fitting into anything even my bras... :( now what I was thinking is how long do most of you go on optifast for to get rid of sugar cravings etc, I mean a two week stint should shift a few kilos and get me refocussed. Whats the longest anyones taken it and is it every meal? I didn't have to take optifast before my surgery and I don't know if I will be made to the next time around.

I've put my remaining smarties in the bin, i've thrown the rest of the pumpkin bread mix out for the sheep and i'm ready to start fresh in the morning with a walk to the school bus.

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I took some advice that apple gave to another bandit regarding filling up on as much fresh foods, like fruit and veg when your fill is missing and it has been wonderful to enjoy oranges and strawberries and lots of veggies in our meals that are crunchy but i'm gaining weight as i'm craving sugar and salt really bad....maybe some pms involved but hey...no one should get hurt I hope as long as there is not too much noise..hehehe..lol

Okay, i'm off to throw something gross on top of the smarties in the bin so i'm not tempted...lol

Jen

p.s. if any of you wanted to partake in a opti challenge or something similar I would be most grateful with some friendly competition and encouragement. I miss my jeans, i'm going to be wearing a moo moo with my birkenstocks soon....oh sharon would swoon at that image.

I miss my jeans....

Good for you Kaili!

Seems everyone has extra energy at the moment...spring cleaning, gardening and painting.

First day of Summer tomorrow! Yayyyy
I'm going to thoroughly enjoy the next few months of Summer. Bring on the heat...for the first time in my life I'm not at all worried about it. In fact I'm really looking forward to donning the bathers and hitting the surf! ( huge step for me! )

I'm even planning a family holiday for 2009...and instead of going to a cool destination I'm looking forward to an exotic warm location (...hopefully away from any unrest )

Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
Apple,

geez I need some of you energy to rub off on me!

I've been painting the front of my house and patio but keep getting distracted. My little one fell on the trampoline half an hour into it yesterday afternoon and got a punture wound just below his eye, lots of blood and trip to emergency. He's got a nice black eye for his santa shots this year (will match the black eye and forehead egg from his 1st birthday photo's.).

Well I had better drag on my painting clothes again now the suns gone behind my big redgum out the front.

Jen

I'm sooooo tired, need diet coke or sleep.....yawn!

okay everybody feel free to throw things at Kaili she is just way way to good hehehehehe
I on the other hand are off to bunnings and have not been free of the garden or the house all weekend with so much to do. Was going to try and make SB this morning but my babysitting turned from 1 to 2 at midnight last night so could not fit the extra in the car so had to give it a miss. Garden apreciated it tho. Been running back and forth between stuff to do on the computer and garden all day.

I went and walked on my own (I couldn't find anyone else) before meeting Sharon and two other ladies whose names I didn't get at SB.

And afterwards I walked for another hour from SB to the Synergy Parkland for a BBQ. :)

This is a 'beautiful' walk that is approximately 5km ( maps supplied )
It is ideal for all fitness levels...you go at your own pace. There is no need to walk the entire distance. The slower walkers can turn around when the faster walkers are on their way back. Or ideally you walk at a good pace for approx 25mins and then turn around and walk back. It's a great way to get some exercise in without it feeling like it's a chore. Besides we follow it with a good social chat over breakfast and coffee!
* Brekkie @ Sticky Beaks Cafe from 10.30am

SATURDAY 13th DECEMBER:
Our Christmas Party
The Universal Bar ( The House of Jazz and Blues )
William Street, Northbridge
From 7pm onwards
$40 a head ( includes beer, wine and soft drink- until our tab runs out )
Bring some extra money it you want to treat yourself to a c0c kt@il.
There will also be a few platters of finger food.
Please come, one and all and bring your partners and your friends can come too! The more the merrier.

SUNDAY 21st DECEMBER:
Group Family Christmas BBQ/Picnic
Willong Pavilion ( on Hale near Sticky Beaks )
10.30am - 2.30pm
Cost will be just a few dollars to cover the hire
BBQ plates are available or just pack a picnic.
Bring your sunscreen, hats and running shoes as there will be a cricket match after we eat!
...and Santa is visiting!
