Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
It was wonderful to wake from my surgery to find flowers already in my room...more came when I was having a rather low moment...which certainly lifted my spirits when it was needed.
Thank you too for the hospital visits ( I felt soooo much better when someone was there! ) , the texts, the 'real' coffees. I even got one from SB on Sunday and a Lemon Sorbet Log. How good was that!

Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
Hi guys,
I've missed you all too!

Thank you B for keeping everyone up-to-date on my hospital stay.
I must say since coming home it hasn't been as easy as it was in hospital but it's certainly great to be back in my own surroundings.

My hubby hired an electric recliner chair for me that has been very good. It actually helps me stand as well.
I'm not moving an awful lot at this stage just to the toilet when needed. Kinda wish I still had the darn catheter in to save me from having to endure the walk! LOL

As for what was my main concern before the surgery...the combination of heavy drugs and my cr@ppy bowel...yes CON-STI-PATION! Well it's still an issue! LOL In fact I think I can officially be crowned the 'Queen of Constipation' now. I amazed every nurse that read my chart. Not only did I more than ever amp up my normal home routine before going into surgery, in preparation, I also had the Anethetist/ Pain Management Team ( LOL yes that is what they are called! ) 'on top of it' right from the start. I have been on 4 different meds for it...all more than double the doses and have still only been twice in the week.

Last night was my first night in my own bed...but I can honestly say I prefer the hospital one as I could elevate it ( head and legs ) so that I remained comfortable.

Thank you all for thinking of me and sending your love and the best wishes. You really are all so special to me. I can't tell you how thankful I am that I have you all supporting me and being happy for me thru this, as I have other friends that are not being as supportive ( not like I would have expected )...why can't they be happy for me? Oh well- not my problem is it...and as I said it's you guys that lift me up when I need so what more can I ask for. I am blessed.

Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I am offically out of action with my walking. My good foot, yea the good one has been bugging me for a couple of days and stupid here did nothing about it until tonight when it was still driving me nuts 10 minutes ago when I could not put weight on it. Got the male of the species to check it out and a huge blister on the sole of my foot :( As a diabetic it means I have to stop everything as even a sneaker on it could lead to an infection. Put loads of stuff on it so with some luck it will only be 2 or 3 days out of action. I can not belive how pathetic it can make you feel a stupid blister *sulk*

Yes Maria, just put it in and stir well. You can add it to porridge as well. Just cook the porridge, allow it to cool a bit and then stir it in.

Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
Apple they do weigh it but he told her he doesn't tell his patients because they are usually disappointed.

Mine surgeon told me, I had 3kgs of skin removed in the same op. So I imagine hers would have been 2-3kgs.

Seems a lot of people think they are going to lose something like 10kgs.

Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
what a meanie i agree :( weighing herself will not give the right answer as she will probably retain fluid for weeks after surgery and come out with a few extra kg than when she went in. The knowing how much you really lost is the incentive until the fluid goes away cause it is kinda depressing coming out a few kg heavier. Or that is what I have been told. I actually thought the surgeons had to weigh it any way to keep a record.

Re:Perth Get Together Reply to this message
Hi guys
I read a reference on a thread somewhere..... not sure where, about adding whey protein to yogurt.
Is there a special technique or do you just chuck it in and stir???
Appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks
Maria
