Re:Dr Ian Mitchell Reply to this message
Hi All
I have a question for terratime29 if I may ask. I am also waiting for APRA to come through so I was interested in your comments about difficulties you were having. What sort of extra things did they need you to provide and how long after you sent your application before they notified you they needed other things?

Thanks
Pat

Re:Dr Ian Mitchell Reply to this message
Hey terra,
Sorry just noticed this post.
I enjoy reading your low BMI thread and have noticed you are feeling much better (im glad).
I was also in shock about how much pain I was in, but did not want to freak you out b4 your op. Especially because I believe for me, it was so worth the short lived pain.
I think the last post of yours I read you had lost 7.7kgs? THATS GREAT...you go girl!!!!!!

I have also lost another kilo and am now down to 56 :O, im still shocked about that number.
I am loving the new confident me, so far the only downsides are my bank account is non existent due to constant clothes shopping( who would have thought, me and shopping, and also feeling the cold like I never have before.
Brrrrrr soo cold.

Hope alls well.

Cheers,
R

Hi R, I think I am on the mend, however not feeling very well. Shoulder pain really bad and also very very sore around the wounds. My head also in a strange place, questioning myself about my decisions. Hoping this is just because I feel so c r a p. Do you remember how long you were sore after your op. Wish I had a fast forward button for this recovery stage.

Hey Terra,
Sorry just noticed your message.
Hope you are recovering well and not feeling to cr appy.
Im aiming for 55.
I do a bit of exercise, atleast 30 minutes probably about 5 times a week minimum. Mainly walking, at the beggining I swam ALOT and exercised for atleast an hour a day if not more( i think i was scared it wouldnt work).

2.5kgs in a week is awesome, you should be extremely proud of that :)

Anyway, I hope your recovering well.

Cheers,
R

Re:Dr Ian Mitchell Reply to this message
Hi R
Noticed on another post that you got to 58kg's..thats great. What weight are you aiming for. Do you do much excercise?

This time next week I will be done..Its going to be a long week. Feel like I am getting stressed again but sure that is normal. Just need to get it done. Heard someone talking today about how much she hated the band even though she was now thin she said she loved the weight loss but hated the band. Just made me worry. Guess the alternative is you can love your food but hate being fat. All my appointments are now done so just have to keep up the opti and wait. I have managed to loose 2.5kg in a week so thats got me all excited.

Re:Dr Ian Mitchell Reply to this message
I was banded by Dr Michell in November 2008 and I thought that he was wonderful. I was in a bit of trouble early this year and he managed to fit me in to help take some fluid out. Did you know that if you had Andrew Monk assist, he does night clinics at Doncaster on Tuesday nights.

I think that you go a bit mad before the op and eat the "bad" things, before you knuckle down, I know that I did.

Re:Dr Ian Mitchell Reply to this message
LOL, I know what you mean about thinking about it all the time (thats all i did!).
Wow, not long now and you will officially be a bandit :)
Day 7 of opti, I hope your finding it ok. I know its tough, but I really think it empowers you and who can complain with any extra weightloss.

Im still doing the same, still losing. Although a bit worried about the next time I weIgh in. I havent done it for 2 weeks and have been going a little silly with bad foods. Not worried about it though.

Hopefully not to bad, guess we will see.

Re:Dr Ian Mitchell Reply to this message
Hi R

Thanks for the reply. I have sorted everything out in my head. Just got myself in a real panic a while ago. Doubting myself but I am totally back on track. I am on day 7 of Opti and only have 8 more sleeps till the big day.
Feel like it consumes my thought process at the moment. Its all I think about which in someways is good, at least I know I have not rushed my decision. APRA needed lots more info from me. I have only just got it all together and faxed it to them today. I could not have postponed my surgery (for my heads sake) so I am going a head booked surgery with a temp loan from family.

Hi Terra,
Sorry I havent been around latelty.
Hopefully you have sorted things out with APRA?
How are you feeling about it all now.
I know it seems so exciting and scary and unknown.
I remember months before my op, it was all I could think about, and dreamed about it all of the time.
How are you feeling now anyway?

Hope all is well,
R

Re:Dr Ian Mitchell Reply to this message
Hey JBone,
Firstly, congrats on your op.
Everything that you have explained, I had too, so dont worry. It must be great to have your partner with you who has already been through this.
I love Mr.Michell, I am around 8 months banded and everything is going fantastically.
Bendigo wow, that must be a bit of a travel.
I am not far from the Hospital.
Hope you recover really quickly :)

Terra-RE-bad breath. I got this so bad when I was on opti. I asked Mr.Michell and he said it was ketosis. I had it for a few months post op also. Dont worry it should go away. Also I was reading that chewing gum, makes you think that your hungry. So maybe some listerine lol. :)

Re:Dr Ian Mitchell Reply to this message
Hi guys :)

I was banded on Thursday (June 25th) by Mr Michell. I am home again now and have spent my first night in my own bed. I am still quite sore - in particular when i drink. I have heaps of gas and ive been taking De-Gas but i cant seem to burp anything and get the gas out...

But, im lucky in that my partner has been through this, she was banded last year and she assures me that this is all normal and it will eventually pass.

So i started my journey at 140.2kg pre-Optifast, i lost 8 kilos on Optifast and so excited about my future (for a change) ...

Optifast sucked for me, i hated it so much. The whole time i craved other food. It was soooooooo hard. But, worth it, in retrspect i am really glad i didnt cheat and risk my op.

So where are you guys based???? Im in Bendigo :)

Glad to hear that you still manage some fizzy alcohol. I was hoping to not have to give up champagne totally. I am also very social and would hate to miss out totally. You must be about the same height as me (155cm). My BMI is 35 hping to get mine to 24ish too.

I dont often drink soft drink-just because of the calories, but I can and have no problem with them at all.
Most of the time I do drink fizzy drinks is in alcohol.
Im still really young, so I do drink a bit. Whoops! But hey-I couldnt drop everything naughty I did lol.
My BMI at the moment is 24, im a shorty.
Anything else you want to know ask away, this site was extremely helpful to me at the beginning of my journey :)

Re:Dr Ian Mitchell Reply to this message
Wow randomness, in the 50's....how good is that. You must wake up feeling better and better every morning. Can I ask what BMI you are at? Even though the thought of the Opti time worries me, I am just so excited to start. From that day I should be on the way down weight wise so thats exciting. Its going to be the longest 5 weeks of my life I think. Oh by the way are you still able to low cal fizzy drinks?

Re:Dr Ian Mitchell Reply to this message
Lol terra.
Your day will come before you know it. I know it probably doesnt feel like it-but it will.
I didnt love opti, but I think it really helped me get into the right frame of mind and totally motivated-sounds wierd, but once you start seeing losses it motivates you to stick to it.
Im doing fine, still cruising along. Hoping to hit the 50's, in this weeks weigh in. Might not happen, but i have been exercising like crazy this week and eating really well. Fingers crossed, if not I should reach it the week after. Im really excited.
Hope you have a fantastic weekend,
R
