Re:NSV's Reply to this message
Hi all, great to read the lastest NSV's.
Well today I did something that I haven't done in more than 20yrs, I went for a swim at one of our local beaches.
I love the water, but because I was fat I didn't want to show my body in public, so for me today this was a real biggy.
When I got out into the surf I looked down at my stomach and it finally hit me, "Hey I'm a normal size now, I fit in with everyone else, yes I still have a long way to go, but I really really look like everyone else" It was a gob smack moment for me, I then went on to really enjoy my swim, and jumped and dived over and under the waves like there was no tomorrow lol.
I also had a comment this morning from a friend at church, she told me that another friend of hers had seen me recently and really didn't think it was me and asked her was that Gerry I saw the other night, cause if it was boy has she changed I didn't recognise her. It's great to hear those sorts of comments and it makes everything worth while.
Best wishes to everyone else and look forward to hearing lots more NSV's.

Re:NSV's Reply to this message
This is a great thread and I have decided to write a few NSV's .....
* yesterday I went and bought a stack of clothes - all size 16, all look great and included 2 dresses. I haven't worn a dress in over 15 years!!!!!

* At the end of July this year I was wearing 22's and 24's - now they fall off and are all gone gone gone.

I know I still have more to lose but I am so happy to have some lovely clothes that fit for the festive season and summer and new shoes that aren't boring.

As for wearing a dress - wow - I felt so pretty and feminine - I look in the mirror and don't think it's me.

Next NSV - the tray table going down flat in the plane on Dec 31st

How fantastic are we???

Re:NSV's Reply to this message
I finally get to record an NSV!

Yesterday I went shopping & was able to buy a size 18 blouse. I don't care if it's hideous on me, it fits & I'm keeping it!
I've been a snug (yes, OK tight...ok very tight) size 26 for 15 years,& it's been about 20 years since wore a size that starts with a one not a two.

I love my band.....

Re:NSV's Reply to this message
I think I just made my last purchase in My Size!

I don't need to shop there anymore but I still get their catalogues sent and I saw a nice crinkly shirt (am currently avoiding buying any clothes that need to be ironed because I hate it) so went in and bought it but had to get an extra small!

I will not be sorry to say goodbye to this shop because I think it is all very expensive for what it is and, lets face it, nobody wants to have their wardrobe choices limited to 1 shop.

Re:NSV's Reply to this message
My 2 year bandiversary today.

Then: 110kg, BMI 46, size 26
Now: 56kg, BMI 23, size 8

Today I got told to pull my shorts up as they were falling down, and they are a size 8!

2 years ago I was scared, but hopeful that this might be the thing that finally worked. Now I find it beyond belief that it worked as well as it did.

Thankyou to all the people on this site who have helped me along the way. You have been an undending source of information, motivation, inspiration and amusement.

Cheers
Sue

Re:NSV's Reply to this message
Well today is my one year bandiversary so I'm gonna list a few NSV's from the last year.
- BMI gone from 46 - 34
- Pant size 24 - 18
- 21cm lost from both hips and thighs
- Not afraid of chairs with arms anymore
- Not afraid of air plane seats anymore
- Not afraid of belts anymore
- Can climb in and out of our boat when at sea
- Can wear high heels with much less discomfort
- Can get braclets and bangles on again
- Bought a size 14 dress a few weeks ago, first time in 10+ years
Thats all that comes to mind but I'm sure there's others.

Re:NSV's Reply to this message
I had 2 nsv's today, I love to give out cuddles too the kids at school and they love to give them back in return. I'm very lucky to work in the private sector and if the kids want cuddles we lovingly give them back anyway, today one of my kids in yr 4 came up and wrapped her arms around me and gave me a big bear hug and said "I can wrap my arms right around you now Mrs B and they overlap".
For me that was the best compliment I have received yet in my weight loss journey with the lapband.
I also needed to take some photos today for our chapel service for the office staff and the battery on the digital camera died, so I ran to the office to quickly get another camera.
Now in the past I would never and I mean never run, so I surprised myself and the office staff who said "don't run Gerry don't run" lol my answer was "hey I CAN run" lol.
A year and half ago I had an arthroscopy on my left knee for a very badly torn meniscus. So for me this was a HUGE nsv.
Hope everyone else is loving their journey.
Best wishes,
Gerry
