Re:Adelaide Banding Reply to this message
Hi Janet That's great to have lost 14 kilos. It's great that everything is going well and you had the same Doc as I am having on the 30th July. What is Dr Sabine like? I haven't met him yet, I think I do next Tuesday at Southern Specialist Centre. That's also fantastic that your sister-in-law has lost 40 kilos. Fantastic. My son is getting married next October and I would like to fit into something that I look great in.

Re:Adelaide Banding Reply to this message
Hello all I to have had my banding done on the 5th of June by Doctor anderson and Steve sabine, at the Ashford hospital. I am very impressed with them and I love getting on the scales. Since my banding I have lost early 14 kilos. I am so happy with myself and my husband and fimily are so proud of me. My sisterinlaw had her banding done two years ago now and she has lost approximately 40 kilos, she was also banded by these brilliant doctors.

Re:Adelaide Banding Reply to this message
Hey All

I attended the pre-lap band dietition session this morning recommended by Dr Leong - It was so nice to meet Penny the dietition. She is full of knowledge and looks like she has worked really hard to put something practical in place for the lap band patients. The group of people who attended were so nice and I look forward to hearing about their journey so if that was you keep sharing was nice to meet you :)

Take Care

Re:Adelaide Banding Reply to this message
My rundown

I am a type one diabetic with all the complications.
I was told I would be dead in 5 years if things didn't change. I looked into banding but found for methe sleeve was best as it removed the hormone that influences insulin.

So here I am 18mths and 35kg lighter, very, very healthy and fit. Yes I still am a diabetic (always will be)but I am off blood pressure tablets, cholestral etc etc. My insulin has reduced to 6 units a needle which is the lowest I have ever been on.
The Doctors have said I have added 20years to my life, I am nearly 50 so was very pleased to hear my life is in normal expectancy.

I can put my own shoes and socks on, I can run upstairs, I can fit in plane seats (without extensions) I feel very happy , healthy and now very self reliant which I didn't always feel before.

So thats my short story, I bet your glad I didn't write along one Ha Ha Ha.

Re:Adelaide Banding Reply to this message
Hi Everyone
I know its old hat for all of us that have had sleeve and banding for awhile, but for people looking into it would be good to give updates about how you feel, the good parts, the bad, or anything you can share from a personal experience. So if you would like to give a quick rundown of where you started and where you are now, it would be good to share for everyone.

Thanks Donna

Re:Adelaide Banding Reply to this message
Good morning all,

Donna, thanks for the update re Dr Franz ACA report, it was fantastic to see and here about the process (even though I am a bandit).

I agree with Donna completely about any surgery or procedure that you may be endeavouring, do your research and talk to people (knowledge is power folks, and fore warned is fore armed).

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and I hope to make the next catchup dinner at Cafe Uno on Wednesday 1st July.

Re:Adelaide Banding Reply to this message
Hi Everyone
Just a reminder about our get together July 1st Wednesday 6pm at Cafe Uno at Ingle Farm. Please email me at donnaley@hotmail.com.au to confirm numbers. It is a fun night so come along all are welcome.

Lately there has been information on ACA and today tonight, some positive and some negative. We are all individuals and what suit some doesn't suit others.
I tell everyone I speak to research, research, research.
Ask lots of questions and visit more than one Doctor to see different point of views. Our get together group helps as we all talk about all the pros and cons from a personal point of view. The more we all talk about the band and sleeve the more we can all learn from each other.
So gather your questions and come along.

Re:Adelaide Banding Reply to this message
Hi Everyone
Finally Dr.France is on ACA cannel 9 tomorrow night, so if the sleeve interests you, have a look.

Hi Ikimoo
There are good surgeons here, so research what you need, Dr.Bessel, Dr. Leong have good reputations for lap band
Dr.France is great for the sleeve.
So do your reserch and find out what you need.

WE have a support group that meets first Wednesday and the third Tuesday of the month at Cafe Unbo 6pm
email me if you can attend, as it is helpful we have a mixture of bandits and sleevers and all can give you info on their own experience. It is a fun group and we are all trying to acheive the same goal.

We aim for a happy, healthy, longer life.

keep well
Donna
