Yes, you're right, I'm glad I will be first. But I booked this date in May, that's why I got the date I wanted and the early timeslot. My anaesthetist will charge 650 because of my health fund. Other funds would be cheaper actually :( I met with him last week.
Good luck re-arranging everything, but if you can't, it won't be too far away for you anyway! |

You're so lucky. If I take the spot that day I don't have to be at the hospital until 11.30 . It's always best to be first in morning then you only fast through the night.
Do you know how much you will have to pay the anaethetist? |

| I'm first that day, I have to be in at 7. The anaesthetist said they will wheel me in at 8. I'm getting rather nervous as the time goes on to be honest |

Hi Jess,
I have to see if I can rearrange all my plans to bring it forward that extra 3 weeks.
What time do you have to be in? I am with Dr France too. |

Hi Hearts, I have read your posts - congratulations on your loss. I was also banded by Professor Toulli on October 10th, 2007. This morning I cracked my 50kg loss - I now have 9.6kg until goal. I am currently size 14. My next appointment is with Dr Lorenze on July 1st - I am wanting a referral to Dr Griffin - Dr Lorenz has told me once my waist is at 80cm he is happy for me to have the referal which I am pretty sure my waist is by now, if not it will be over the next couple of weeks. I have also heard some surgeons like you to be at goal and maintain for a certain period before they will do any cosmetic surgery. I am wanting a tummy tuck, my thighs and arms done along with a boob lift. Does anyone know if they will do all of these procedures at once? I am also wondering what the expenses are so if you get there before me please do let me know. Were you able to make an appointment without a referal? Cheers,
Nat |

| OMG my surgeon has called and has an opening on July 3rd. 20 days earlier than I'm prepared for. I have to work out now if I can rearrange all my people. This is scarey. |

Hi Brelly,
Glad to hear you are home and doing well. You will feel like sleeping heaps, not only because you don't get any sleep in hospital, but also because you've had an anaesthetic. It is like a poison in your body and it can take up to 2 weeks for your body to get rid of it all, and to get back to normal again. So don't worry if you feel like sleeping a lot, let yourself sleep its all part of the recovery process.
I agree with you about getting a bit of substance into your body after the op, on the day after my op i felt really good and then the next day when i was allowed to go home I started feeling quite nauseous and weak and once I had something in me other than apple juice and tea i felt heaps better!
Stay positive and you will get there. I am 12 days post op now and I feel 100%!! GOod luck with your recovery.
Cheers, Sarah :) |

glad to hear your home brelly and do take it nice and easy those hospitals are horrid things... i hate not getting a good nights sleep. I hope you recover nice and fast and feel some what normal soon enough :)
I phoned Dr P Griffan a plastic surgeon and I have my first appointment with him on August the 12th to get pricing details and i phoned my private health because at first they said I wouldnt be covered but i gave them the 30177 medicare code and they said oh yes thats covered as is the underarms and legs so I may consider to have all done.... im planning next year in June or July some time , i have to save up for the out of pocket expences but its worth it.
Im down to 94.8kgs so in 4 1/2 weeks I have gone from 103kgs to 94.8kgs so 8.2 off im really pleased the weight had stopped for so long and now its starting i can really see it overall loss of 60.2kgs i still am amazed... had so many positive compliments from people who are shocked at the change in me and my face... oh and Im down to size 16! was size 20, 4 weeks ago. |

Hi,
I am doing very well except for a leaking drainage site, that has made a bit of a mess.
Pain wise I am fine keeping up with my 4 hourly painrelief.
I am wanting to sleep alot, because you get no sleep in hospital at all.
Dr France was wonderful and the nursing staff at the Cavary in Adelaide were just fabulous. But I was glad to get home to my bed.
My fluids are going down well, nice and slowly. I have been on tea and juice and last night started back on Optifast, I must admit I felt better after having a serve of that.
I will just keep on having fluids and sleeping and will be better in no time at all.
Altogether feeling very upbeat and positive.
Love to you all

Hello Everyone,
I am home, I have had the gastric sleeve done and it has all gone very well, Dr France very pleased with my recovery and let me home today. Not bad since I only had op done on the 11th at 2pm.
I am tired but well and I am sip sip sipping.
I am a bit lightheaded but am hoping for a good recovery.
My liver was lovely he said. The op took 2 hours and went well.

Hi guys!
Well today it is one week since being banded and I can't believe its only been 1 week! It feels like ages ago I was sitting in my room at the hospital so so scared waiting to be called to theatre! I remember that when I got wheeled into the holding bay at the theatre that tears actually started flowing because I was so nervous and scared. But it has all been fantastic so far. I'm really happy. I have lost 3.9kg since the morning of my op a week ago. That is just amazing!
Keep smiling everyone :)
Sarah. |

Hi Jane,
I really like Dr Patroney she is lovely. I have my first follow up appointment with her in 5 weeks time. I will be banded one week tomorrow and I can't believe how good I feel! I hardly have any pain and I think I've finally got my energy back! I even vaccuumed and mopped my floors today. I got on the scales today and to my surprise I am down 3.5kgs since I went into hospital last Wednesday morning. I don't really know why I was so surprised considering I'm not actually eating much at all but it was a really nice feeling! I'm over liquids already though can't wait for mushies!
Cheers, Sarah :) |

I just wanted to say how happy I am that I found you guys hehe and wow its been 1 month since I saw my doctor and the weight is coming off again since seeing him on the 6th may I was 103kgs I am now 95.8kgs so I have lost 7.2kgs and feel so much different, my body is taking on a shape of its own and i see bones ! even my rings are to big on me now.... im looking forward to see what happens when I see my doc again which is on the 8th of July so 4 weeks again I hope to be near 89kgs by then maybe im wishing to hard.... and im eating i mean i dont eat allot but i dont miss what I used to have , I was addicted to farmers union iced coffee and now well i dont like the taste!....
I have also decided to have no more children its not that I dont love them dearly but i have 3 and dont know if we could affored another one and if i knew for sure i would have a girl i would jump at the chance but instead im planning now for my future and have decided i want to have that tummy tuck next year so children is a no go ! i have gotten private cover and so this time next year i should be able to affored it and be at my goal weight.
Also where i have allot of skin i now get rashes very painful and there weeping and bleeding and smell so somthing to see my doctor about it didnt happen until i started loosing weight again.
I just wish i had looked at my eating a while back its taken me 6 years now to loose 59kgs but i guess i should still feel proud of what I have achieved.... only 20kgs to go so close i can taste it yet seems so far to get LOL |
