HI Sarah
No idea how much ive got, theyve never told me. Might ask next time im there. Ive lost around 25kgs but 8 of that was on Optifast.
I know i dont always eat the right things but i only really lose weight now if i really diet by only eating salads and exercising constantly...
i dont eat anywhere near as much as i used to but i definitely can still eat more than a cup of food...especially things like pasta etc |

Good morning Jelly Bean,
What i mean is that i have noticed how much i dont need to eat now and also since following (kind of) what the bandits of the other thread do - my weight loss has jumped up again. I hadnt loss any weight for a few weeks but then 2.5 kg loss last week(as of this morning). For me that mnakes 13kg in 12 weeks. So i am pretty happy. Getting quite a few charms on my pandora now lol.
Be seeing you all Wednesday if you can make it.

hi m_s_1_9_8_2,
I'm a patient of Dr Bessell and have fills with Dr Patroney. She also says to me no more than a cup. But I can still eat more before i'm full. Currently have 5.6ml in a 10ml band. How much do you have? I'm going back next week for some more fill.
I was banded June 08 and have only lost 15kg so far. How are you going? |

| Hi Serina, when you said that you really noticed a difference, what was the difference you were talking about? I am not losing weight as quickly as I would like and I am eating probably less than what they are all eating so I have to maybe look at how much I am not eating. It's so frustrating only 6.2 kilos in 8 weeks. Jellybean xx |

try this thread http://au.messages.yahoo.com/lifestyle/lap-band/12 8734/
its A typical day - Food Diary
It really opened my eyes on how much i was eating (way too much)
the thing i noticed most about these bandits is almost all of them have 5 - 6 mini meals a day - I have been doing this for the last week and really noticing the difference - havent got on the scales yet.

Hi All
Havent been on the board for a while but have been catching up on this thread today..
I have a question - particulary pointed at Dr Bessells patients. I was banded Jan 08.
How much can you guys actually eat? When i see Dr Patroney for my fills (i have had 4 and the last one was done 6 months ago at least) she tells me that i should be eating a 1/2 to 1 cup of food per sitting.
Do you guys eat more than that because i definitely do.
Obviously it depends on the types of food and how hungry i am etc but 1/2 cup of food will not and does not fill me up at all.
I wonder if i should ask for the band to be tighter or is 1/2 cup not realistic? |

Hello Ley, Have been reading everyones posts and have an appoin tment in March with Dr. France. Can you explain the difference between the band and sleeve? Am a little apprehensive at the moment, but still feel this is the only way to go. Would appreciate any advice, ta.

Hi jelly Bean,
Everything went well. I was lucky enough to meet a few ladies who were having Dr France and they were having the sleeve. I got to talk to a few people and I did get a chance to speak to Dr France about it aswell.. So re you ready i have decided to go for the sleeve.... I decided this becuase I wnat thid for the long term and I have enough of missing out on life and this is this best option for me. I think that you are doing well and keep up the good work!! Are you going on Wed night? Do I have to book a place for myself and if so how do i do that?

Hi Weeze,
I'm 3 weeks and 2 days post op. I have lost 10 kgs now. I went in at 119 and I'm now 109. Feeling pretty happy. It is soooo great to eat and then feel really full after very little.
The band does have more inherent problems than a permanent solution. The big thing is that it's reversible - which is ideal for pregnancy and if you just want it out! I was really unwell for about 6 days post-op but most people are not like me. I had a bad time of the anasthesia and pain meds. Everyone is different, and it seems that I'm the minority.
I have about 2-3 mls in at the moment but don't have my first proper fill until Feb 20.
Hope that helps,
Cat |

Hi Louise,
I'm going good with my lapband, 6.2 kilos gone in 7 weeks. There have been a few thing lately that I haven't been able to eat but that comes with having a fill. I had my first fill last Tuesday (2mls). I was on fluid for 36 hours and then the fun began. Trying to work out what I was going to eat and what was going to go down has never been so interesting. I now have a few things that I know won't go down at the moment but I am sure it will change in time. I'm like you, I have a couple of friends that have had it done and I watched as they lost large amounts of weight. They both have had their good and bad times but say they would do it again in a heart beat. Also, I am hoping to get pregnant after losing a heap of weight and this is one of the best procedures that they recomend to use when you get pregnant so as you can see this is the best thing for ME personaly!! Goodluck for tomorrow, definately a step in the right direction, let us know how it goes. Cheers Jellybean xx |

Hi jelly bean,
How are you going with the lap band? have you has any fills yet? I am going to the ashford tmrw for my endoscopy and then my op is cheduled for the 16th. What made you decide to have the lap band? A friend of mine had it done in oct last year and has already lost 27kg! that is what made my mind up by talking with her about it.

Hey Louise,
I haven't been to any meetings yet. I am planning on going to the one on Feb 4th tho. Please feel free to come along and pick my brains if you like.
I do know a few people with bands and the difficulties they have had. The type of surgery you have tho is based on what would suit YOUR needs best. Find out all the information you can and then decide for sure which you think will be better :)

| Hi Louise, I went to the first meeting at the cafe early January and I am going to the next one in February and I had the band done 6 weeks ago so I would love to chat to you about it if you are going. The meeting was great we were able to chat to people that had the same things done and at different stages so it was nice to be able to find out how others were going and what their experience has been like. Hi Nomes,
He did offer me to have the sleeve but I had in my mind that i wanted to have the lap band because mt friend had it done and has had great results. it was only by reading this forum that I seem to be a bit unsure on having the lap band. Do you go to the meetings at cafe uno? Do you know any one who has had the band?

Hi Louise,
I had 2 weeks to recover from the sleeve but felt great after only a cpl of days. Its different for everyone tho.
Band v sleeve, sleeve has more weightloss than band. It is slightly higher risk at time of surgery tho, so be aware of that. Are u seeing Michael again before your surgery? I would suggest you do this and discuss whether the sleeve or band would be better.
I guess I'll be seeing you in ICU lol.

Hi Nomes,
How much time did you have to take off work with the sleeve? I have booked in to have the band but I am thinking I might have the sleeve instead... Do you get the same results with the band v the sleeve? Dr France did say that I had to spend the night in ICU. |

Hey Ley,
Great to hear your still around and doing well :) Thats fantastic news about all the meds, bet your exstatic (sp?). I am seriously considering coming to the next meet. Hubby is off work atm looking after our daughter cause I broke my wrist just b4 Xmas. 1 more week to go and the cast comes off, otherwise I would have been a bit too obvious with a hot pink cast lol.

Hi everyone
Get together at Cafe Uno on Wednesday the 4th of February.
Please email me at lade01@optusnet.com.au if you can make it. It was a fantastic turn out last time.
The get together is for bandits and sleevers, as I said our goals are all the same.
Hope to see you there

Hi Nomes
haven't spoken in ages, glad to hear how great you are gonig with the weight loss. I to am very happy with my choose of the sleeve with Michael France, he is a fantastic doctor.
I have lost 33 kg since Jan 08 and am very happy, I may lose more and may not. I have gone off all my medications except for insulin, but this has reduced heeeeaps.
I love that I can eat salads, veg, meat all very easily, as I never ate sweet stuff because of the diabetes.
Anyway keep well

Hi Louise,
I chose the sleeve cause for me it was easier. I didn't want to have to worry about fills and sweet spots etc. Also, I am a very sensitive person (in the biological sense) and just knew that I'd probably reject the band. The sleeve has been WONDERFUL and I can still eat ANYTHING I want, just smaller portions. It also changes your taste for things. Believe it or not, I actually crave vegies!!!
How did u want to work it so we can catch up? Do u have to spend first night in ICU? All sleevers have to, just as a precaution, but I dont know about bandits?
