| Colleen dont be nervous about your op or your first fill. I was but for nothing really. I was really relaxed for thje fill last week because of advice on here about it all so I was determined not to worry about it and it was nothing. Saying all that, everyone is different, and you can only use others experiences as a guide to what you may experience yourself. But I think iof you are reasonably healthy and a good healer your experiences shouldnt be too bad at all. There is no need to work up the nerves before these procedures, doesnt help any and honestly its fine and you will be. Dr. Leong is one of the best is what Pennie the dietitician told me yesterday. Actually the two of them along with other top bariatric medicos aresoon joining up to put out the latest info on lapbanding and all that goes with it. Mags. |

Hi Cat & everyone,
Thanks for your reply Cst re: post op as I am not sure how much time to take of work. I joined MBF health fund nearly 12 months ago and now I have 7 weeks to go before my op and I am feeling a little nervous about it all as the time is getting closer. Is this normal for everyone. Good luck to those of you who are booked in this month to have the op, please let us know how you are going as i have found this site a great help.
Cheers Rena |

yeah i'm getting really nervous too. but if it helps any i hear calvary is a very good hospital. seems maybe i should have gone with dr leong coz i am seeing a lot of others have gr8 stuff to say about him and no-one has yet told me that they have heard of my dr D'onofrio on ward st north adelaide. not sure if i'm more nervous about the op or about leaving my two daughters to be looked after by hubby. Hi Kat
I am getting banded on 30 March by Mr Leong at Calvary Central Districts and like you am getting nervous. I just keep telling myself I am doing this for myself and my family.
I wound myself up for nothing over the endoscopy, it was no big deal at all. So I am trying to be really positive about the lap band op and look forward to a fantastic future in the double digits.
Good luck for 14 April |

Hi evanescence,
I had mine done with you....I was in the room opposite. Liquids for 4 weeks is going to be 4 very long weeks lol. Last few days I've had slightly thicker soup than before, so maybe that added to the extra waste - first loo trip took one week. Hope you are not in pain. Maybe up the Benefibre and water. I'm feeling great. Andrea |

Hi there,
I was just on the Adelaide Lap Banding message board, I am booked in with Dr Tom Wilson for the end of April at Flinders Private. It looks like most of the people have had Dr Leong do their operation so it was good to see your message re: Tom Wilson. I am so ready for the operation and love to hear from others who have had it, not sure how the message board works.
Can you tell me how it went for you and how you coped after the operation, how much time did you need off work (if you work) to get your head around everything and settle into your new life style change. I know that everyone is different and that we will all lose weight at a different rate. I am currently 126 kilo’s so I have a long way to go.
Being from the country ( Lower South East) we don’t have a meeting group like you seem to have in Adelaide at this stage that I am aware of anyway otherwise I would have loved to attend your meeting group. |

i agree with you on many fronts , the reason so many dont say anything is the shallow stupid minds of many i dhavnt told anyone bar family , the naysayers... believe that this is the easy way ha so far from it , if it where a diet per say i could eat bread , i could have pizza , in fact i wouldnt have to stop anything all in mnoderation they say , i could eat copious chocolate oh thats right thats how i got where i was to begin with , and the sacrifice that i have like many have done by getting my friend the band shows my power and my true commitment cos i cant eat the before mentioned and wont again and im cool about that , but hey let them believe its easy cos sum ppl wont change and least this is long term and the we will all conquer in the end above those fad diets!
banded 08/12/08 127.6kilos
now: 101.2kilos!! a weight that will no go back on thanks to my band and my new found |

You need to see that thread, "Bowels,Post Op". Surfie was another bander banded the same time as me (she's in another state) and had a devil of a time with constipation. My problem was burping...! So we all go through it. I will bump the thread.

What a punce! I saw his photo in the social pages of The Advertiser and he's staked half the weight back on and looks all chubby. How hard has he worked to keep it all off?? NOT. Oh well..yet another idiot who talks about what they know nothing of. Ignorant twit.

| Someone told me today that COSI on SAFM this morning (I dont listen to him cos I think he is a real KNOB)was rubbishing lap-band surgery. Apparently its the easy way rather than how he dieted and exercised on The Biggest Whingers show! What a know all. NOT. Such a jerk. A lot of people think that way, especially guys. No wonder many bandits dont tell people. Annoying! Mags. |

I got banded on the same day as Cat - admitted at 11, I didn't leave my room until 9.30, to walk around to surgery, & then was brought back at midnight, so I think Dr Leong started operating on me at about 10pm.
evanescence, as for not going to the toilet, at the moment, while you're on liquids only, your need will be much reduced. Don't forget that you won't have much in the way of solid waste to get rid of, mainly liquid waste. It may take a week or so to go. Use benefibre for more fibre in your diet, but as long as you're not having stomach pains, don't be too worried about it at the moment. That will change to some degree as your diet changes, but the other thing to remember is that you probably won't ever "go" the same again - remember you'll now be putting less food into your system, so there should be less waste coming out of it. |

Yes, I had to wait 11am - 6pm for my surgery and apparently I was the lucky one because his other lapband patients waited until 9pm. Make sure you eat a nice healthy, large breakfast. I was starving and shaking by the time they wheeled me in. They needed to put glucose in my drip during surgery.
All the best!
