I rang 5 weeks ago and left her a voicemail asking that. Haven't heard back. Not sure if she's busy. I will ring again I guess? I don't want to be a pest. My GP up here in the country said that he spoke to the dieticians here and they weren't willing to see me. So I need to org a nise this myself.
Thanks,
Cat |

Hi there Cat,
I had a consult with pennie at the paragon centre near the modbury hospital. She is lovely, not sure if she does phone consults tho, she is very adaptable so you never know.

I have rung Penny and she didn't return my call. I spoke to her once prior to that when I was fresh out of hospital. Perhaps I will try ringing her again. She was very helpful, yes. I rang and asked if she might do phone consults for me as I'm 5 hours away. Do all the dieticians do group consults?

Hi Everyone
Sorry haven't been on much, so busy at work.
Andrea we meet the first Wednesday of the Month, so it is
Wednesday the 1st of April (April Fools Day), I book for 6pm and just ask everyone to email confirmation for numbers. My new email is donnaley@hotmail.com.
I am trying to see if we can move to The Grand North Clubrooms as it is not as noisy and more room, we seem to have grown heaps in numbers and it is fantastic how much support we all get from each other.
Anyway will post confirmation wether it is at Cafe Uno or Grand North they are not that far apart.
talk soon Donna |

Does anyone know of a dietician in Adelaide who does individual sessions? Please let me know, if you do. I've still only seen one once as I've been told I am not able to be treated in the country (they're not LapBand trained and only do group sessions anyway).

Hi Julia,
When is the next dinner the Cafe UNO? I've lost track, is it next Tues or Wed?...don't think we have to tell anyone..but I have read in previous messages the name of the girl that started it and it did say we CAN let her know...if only I could think of her name..ha ha. Maybe I'll go back a bit and see if I can find the info. I reckon I might go to it next week, how about you? Be good to catch up and compare notes.
cheers Andrea |

Hi Andrea.
well im not sure how much but i try and take it slowly and have a bit of a break to see how it feels like you im terrified of eating too much.Yeah i too had to stop having stuff so thick i had some yoghurt that was too thick.I could feel it passing thru that scared me back to thinning it out again.
Are you going to the dinner at cafe uno's?
do we need to tell someone if we want to go?

| Hi Julia, Glad the mashed tatties and baked beans have helped a bit. I had a hungry day today. Getting a bit too game with the thickness of the soup I think...I'd better thin it out a bit more. Do you find it's hard to know how much soup is OK. Hope I'm not stretching the pouch. Trying to stick to 200ml at a time. Bought some prune juice today. take care Julia....cheers Andrea |

Hi Julia,
I agree meat and two veg is what I'm craving for. Peter cooked chops and veg tonight and the smell nearly killed me. Felt really nice and full for the first time today....one of the girls at work has been banded for about 12 months and suggested I try very runny mashed potato and gravy. I ended up mixing some of my soup into it just to be on the safe side, as I was a bit worried it still might be too thick for 2 weeks post op. Once I'd eaten it all (oops) I realised I was actually nice and full. Hope I didn't over do it. Was a nice full feeling though and kept me satisfied til about 5pm. kSoup again for tea...but a bit hungry now so it might be time to attack the custard, there's only so many times you can eat soup each day. Think I'd better increase the Benefibre too, if you know what I mean. Take care Julia, cheers Andrea |

| Do you think I have the 'integestion' pains possibly that I haven't drank enough? I am getting through a bit of water etc. I didn't know if I was doing too much too soon |

| You need to drink. Keep your fluids up to at least 1500mls a day. My shoulder pain was severe and lasted about 6 days , heat packs helped a little but rest and pain relief regularly was better. I was in Calvary for three nights, Dr. Leong was easy going and said if I wasnt anxious to go home to stay for the third night. It helped, being waited on and taking the digesics. Rememer to drink up, just sip constantly between naps. Mags. |

Hi all
Well day 5 for me. I ended up waiting 11.5 hours to go in for surgery and I did hear Dr Leong can operate well into the early morning. He was lovely. Calvary staff were absolutely wonderful. Expect 2-3 nights in. Post op my tummy was ok but a killer pain in my shoulder. Apparently this is normal. I tried deep heat and tieger balm -any ideas? I also had really tight chest pains today. Feels like integestion but have barely had anything to drink. Has anyone has the same?
Good luck to those of you waiting for your big day. It really is worth it already.. |

HI again
just wanted to let you all know from the get tother group, I received Pennie and Sally's recip0es and decided to devote a day off to cooking.
My girls helped and we cooked Chicken and cherry tomato curry, which was sweet and yummy,Pesto chicken pasta, which I loved, baked ricotto pies ( I felt a little dumb didn't know it was cheese) and for desert blueberry cheesecake (which tasted great looked awful (due to me not the recipe) and finally quick and easy meringue .
The only mishap was quick and easy meringue my neice subsituted 60ml of coconut flavour liqueur for 50 ml of coconut essence, big mistake it tasted like we were drinking straight from the essence bottle.
We had lots of fun and all the family came for tea to give an opinon and the main thing I got from everyone was it wasn't burn't and did I really cook this.
Thanks Penny and Sally
the rest of the recipes we are compling this week with more family visitors.

Hi Everyone
haven't been on much lately at all, no time.
Good Luck Colleen, not far off now, I hope coming to our get togethers has helped you be prepared and feeling OK.
As a quick update to newbies, I am a type 1 diabetic, with
all the complications of long term diabetes. I have heart disease, nurophathy and the chance of loosing my sight due to heommages (also bad speller).
I was having 5 injections a day, and many tablets for heart, blood pressure and cholestral.
I have lost around 34 kg now and have gone of all tablets expect fish oil and have reduced my needles to 4 a day with very small amounts. My life is fantastic.
I love putting my own shoes and socks, I love being able to do up an aeroplane seat belt (no extension needed),
I love being able to wipe my bottom and acually reach it with out needing a chiro, these are a few of my favorite things that only us would know about.
so good luck everyone we are all on our path

Hi Julia,
Been a bit tough, went away for the weekend and all the others were eating nibbles, barbecue and bacon and eggs...and what did I have, soup !!! OMG another 2 weeks of this...eekk.
I've added Sustagen to some food and for instance, have eaten the soup(not clear soup) then an hour or so later had some custard. Also, try and have atleast one Optifast per day hoping that the protein stops me from getting too hungry. Yesterday I had a beef Cup-a-soup too to keep me going. Don't know if that might help. Hard though aye?
Hard to believe nearly 2 weeks have gone by. I'm back to work tomorrow...boo hoo. see you in a few weeks. Look after yourself. Andrea |
