Hi Hyacinth
The difference to a diabetic is unbelievable. I am type 1 and haven't looked back. I try to help as much as I can to promote the fantastic oppotunity we have to live a better life. I feel sooooo much better, healthier , happier and fitter than I have before.
Michael France is Fantastic you are in great hands.
The butterflies is the unknown, which we all get when we haven't been there before.
After being there this is an amazinbg time......be excited at what the outcome holds.

Hi Donna, Thanks for the reply, I had begun to think no-one was there! The butterflies are starting to jump around a little, only 1 + 1/2 weeks to go! I am a diabetic but type 2 which Dr. France assured me would dissipate immediately after surgery - looking forward to that. Will consider meeting at Cafe Uno sometime after surgery.
Cheers,
Hyacinth |

Hi Jill,
Congrats on the weight loss so far. I had 2mls put in last time and had an upset stomach for about 2 days. Burping a lot and got full very quickly. By 3rd/4th day I felt nothing. Was full quickly for the first week and then it subsided. I'm having another one tomorrow..yay!

Hi Jill,
Without knowing the size of your band and how much fill you actually have in it, I would maybe be thinking about going back and having another little bit taken out... I know everyone is different but after a couple of weeks you should be able manage more than liquids and especially if you are going interstate and won't here if you are having difficulties. Good luck with whatever you find to be the right solution for you.
Hope the Easter bunny visited you all this weekend

Hi everyone, hope you have enjoyed the Easter break!
Not been on here much lately, lost 26kg since July 08. I had my 4th fill (1ml fill) two weeks ago tomorrow and had to have .3ml taken out about 20 minutes later too full felt like something was caught. Still not eating much... can tolerate fluids and soups. Had a couple of things caught and had to be sick, when I have tried more solid food.
Just wondered how long it has taken some of you to eat normal food again after a bigish fill. Don't get me wrong happy that I am not hungry and but feel I should be eating a bit more solid food by now.
I can manage a weetbix and warm milk very runny, sometimes can eat a cruskit and cottage cheese and soup for tea. Even drinnking 1 small glass of orange juice feels like I have had a meal. I am off to melboune in couple of weeks for a girls weekend and I want to tea something normal by then! seeya Jill
Naughty ps Easter egg went down ok! had to do itjust for the Easter Bunny! |

Hi Hyacinth and Sam
I had the sleeve with Michael France 15mths ago and haven't looked back.
I am a type 1 diabetic with all the complications and I now have gone off all my tablets and need minimal insulin.
I have lost around 34kg.
I spent 2 nights in hospital but the normal is 3. The first night is in IC to monitor everything and the morning after you swallow a liquid that is xrayed going down to make sure there is no leakage. It taste like licorice.
You feel a liitle off the day after surgery but most I people I deal with have all said they have recovered quickly. I honestly did.nt feel as if I had surgery 5 days after and I went back to work part time.
I have had 12 surgerys in my life and this was the least painful and best recovery. I would do it again.
The advantage with the sleeve is we can eat all foods, fruit , veg, chicken, meat, which can sometimes be a problem for people with the band. We are all different and some things one can eat another can't.
WE have a get together group that meets now twice a month the first Wednesday and the third Tuesday of the month at Cafe Uno, which is a great help to all.
good luck girls this will change your life for the best.
If you want to email me or come to the get together my email address is donnaley@hotmail.com

Hi Julia,
I'm going really well. How about you? I've probably done something naughty though, was out for a meal and had to eat chicken...well it went down without any trouble and so I had it again. Emailed Pennie and found out it can cause band displacement if you eat solids too soon. Eekk. That's it for me now...I'll behave myself. Hard to believe it's 5 weeks nearly since we were banded aye? Let me know how things are. Happy Easter. See you on the 25th. Andrea |

Congrats Colleen, Dr Leong did my band a year ago, it has been a bit up and down, but I have lost 30 kgs and feel great. You will look back in a years time and wish you had done it sooner. Be kind to yourself and take it easy for a few days. If you need any advice pop into the April 2008 thread, we are a helpful lot in there. Don't forget the band is a tool that will change your world if it is used properly.
Welcome to the otherside,
Mermaid X |

Hi all
I got home from hospital yesterday, my lapband was done at Calvary Central Districts on Mon 30/3 by Mr Paul Leong. I could not have been in better hands, everyone was really lovely and supportive.

Thanks Donna,
I've got Pennie's number. Shall ring her. I actually found a dietician in Vic who does phone consults. So if anyone else is in the country and wanting phone consults, they can always use Heather. Can't remembe her surname but I can pass on her email address to anyone that needs it.

Hi
I am new to all of this.
I had a consultation with a Dr today and I have booked in for the op on the 30th July at Ashford hospital with Dr. Anderson. Seems so far away. I have been looking at the
message boards with great interest the past couple of weeks. You all have great tips and hints and have really helped alleviate some of my worries. Thank you all

I had surgery with Michael France 14mths ago and he is fantastic, a very caring person. The hospital was very good and staff helpful.
I was in for 2 nights and the whole experience was very positive.
