Good Luck with the optifast Bec. I'm not looking forward to it either! I'll start mine in a couple of weeks.
I received my approval yesterday from APRA which I am wrapped about. So it's all official now for the go ahead on the 17th October.
Thought I would start the list of when & where we are all getting banded.

Hi all. I start the optifast next Friday. I'm scared of it. 3 weeks with no food. I'm not worried post op, as I usually loose my appetite almost completly if I have an opp. or am unwell. I feel it will be a very long 3 weeks. However it means that the opp is drawing closer. Very exciting. Keep in touch, Bec.

Hi all oct bandits, I've hit a stumbling block now. Last night I experienced rapid heartbeat 140+. this happened to me frequently over the last few years. When I saw the dr at the sleep clinic he said that he think sleep apnoea may be causing me to gasp and folks with fast heart rate. I felt relieved to finaaly have hope for an answer and am booked in for sleep clinic , but last night I experienced a very fast heartrate to the point I was so short of breath I coulnt talk. Anyway to make a long story a little shorter I ended up in emergency and after many hours and bloods they have given me a letter formy dr and a referral for a 24 hr monitor....I have seen cardiologists in the past for this and no answers were found. Not sureif surgery will go ahead in oct now, will have to talk to my surgeon and ask his advice.:(

Hi Guys,
I have my date, October 14th. I am very excited and looking forward to my new life. I was thinking today how nice it will be to sit with my knees together or, to cross my legs. Wow, it has been soooooo long.

Hi Charlie, thanks for replying. That's great news that things are going really well for you and so good to hear a positive account of the surgery and following liquid diet. The surgery doesn't really bother me, I think it's more the recouperation and the return home as I have to fly 3 hours for the surgery and stay for a week in the city which is annoying, but I know it will be worth it. Thanks for the encouraging words and keep me updated on your progress. Leah

Hi Leah, I have just had my first fill, 8 weeks after surgery. The op went fine and following the liquid then mushy diet was easier than I thought it would be. There is also the benefit of loosing quite a lot of weight during this stage. I was a bit apprehensive about the first fill but it was absolutely nothing to worry about - hardly felt a thing. The xray showed where the band was and it was very interesting seeing it getting tightened. I am now eating solids, chewing well, of course, and feeling full with much less on my plate! I am very relieved to have such a good "friend" to help me on my way to a lovely slim future. Good luck, and don`t worry, you`ll be just fine. Charlie

Hi everyone,
Wow, what a great site this is! I am up for the big day on October 5 in Perth. It's taken me a year to make the decision (thought I'd give everything else a try one more time) and am looking forward to making the decision and moving forward with me life. Am sick of the restrictions being overweight puts on life, especially at 31 and with a child. If anyone has any tips on what to expect, let me know. I love reading everyones hints/tips/opinions! L |
