Hi Tiffster,
Because I am sooooo bad. I am sort of taking this opportunity to have my final breads and steak etc. I know I should be being good but, I am not famous for being good I can tell you LOL. I figure that this is my absolute last week of normal eating.
Cheers

Bigkabus: So happy for you! Let us know what it's like now you have your fill in, how are you going?
Trajedy: I'm also feeling no restriction now, 5 weeks post op and won't get any fill until the 23rd. It seems unfair to have to wait so long!! I'm also now into the "diet" mentality again, trying to maintain or continue the weight loss until the fill. God it is BORING.
Take care everyone and keep up the good work. |

| Bigkabus that is wonderful news! I know I would freak if the same thing happened to me so I'm glad that it's worked out okay. Rebecca, I am lucky enough not to have had any problems with things coming up or things getting stuck so I'm unable to help with any advice, sorry. I do get a bit uncomfortable if I try to eat too much but I do burp alot if this happens so it usually helps. I did read somewhere that apparently you can't burp after the band??? I am off to my dietician tomorrow & will hopefully go onto mushies! Yay-I'm so over soup! Weight loss has stalled for me so I'm well impressed with everyone's big losses but I know that eventually (hopefully) it will happen for me. And I'm getting a new star tattoo for every 10kgs I lose as well. Keep up the good work everyone! |

Fantastic news bigkabus! Don't focus on what may be needed down the track, just enjoy today's positive outcome and be careful not to slip on those lost kilos as they fall by the wayside!!!

| Great News (at last, had a bad week) my surgeon with the help of knowing the position of the port was able to get it in first go. Woohoo. I coulda kissed him. He said it appears it has detached itself from the wall. May need surgery some time down the track as he needs to know other's can put a fill in for me. (It did hurt, but at least it was over with fast) I'm so happy now.... Lets hope the weight now comes off. All the best |

Hi all, haven't been on for quite a while so thought I'd catch up on everyone's news and see how all of us "band of losers" are going. Mon, Mon our fat has gone, how are you baby? Sorry about being so slack! Have been away at the beach again. Had my first post op appointment this arvo with my surg...19 days later and have lost 10.5 kgs all up. Hoorah. Am onto mushie stage now but am also eating salad (need that crunch). Low fat drinking yoghurt, weight watchers yoghurts, fruiches, soups etc. Don't see him again now for 4 weeks, when apparently I will have been able to eat all sorts of yummy solids. After reading everyone's posts re food not going down well and with Mackattacks chop story firmly planted in my brain I intend to take it slowly.
Did recieve some c.r.a.p. news though...I have quite severe chirrossis of the liver!!!! I HATE THAT. Causes for me are still unknown, until I see the liver specialist, but I have had Hep C for 16 years and always new there was a risk of liver damage from that. Together with the amount of fat I have choked my poor liver with for the past 30 years...well, I can do something about the amount of fat consumed but the Hep C is for life. Anyway will chat again soon, keep passing the open windows and good luck to all of us.

| Going to see the surgeon tonight (8pm appt) am hoping he says there are other ways to access the port. I have heard about a fluroscopy, but not sure whether this could be used on me, or if he even considers that. I really can't afford another op (time and cost) definatly after private health now even if it is just minimal. Someone mentioned about stalling weight loss. Yep I am having that too. I had a fight with the same kg for about 2 weeks. Finally broke through it on Thursday to a loss of 9kg pre/post op, but haven't weighed since. |

Bec,
It seems from what I have read that everyone's band is different as to what they can tolerate, so lettuce might be OK for you. Trial and error, I guess. Lots of people find also that what goes down one day well, doesn't go down well the next. Others find that they miss some stuff at first, but that the food that gets stuck just isn't worth the effort. Also, there are lots of healthy and nice salads that do not need lettuce so you may just need to have a bit of fun and experiment a bit.
Try not to worry about being 'stuck' for 4 days at the same weight. I know it's hard, but this is a long-term project. I have tried to limit my weigh-ins to once every week or two, or else I can get a bit obsessive about the scales.
Maybe you could be on the lookout for NSV's instead, the non-scale victories that often happen even when the scales are not behaving as they should! Hang in there--you can do it! |

hi fairysteps
there's what they call a black hole on this board --when threads are at the bottom of page one -- and another thread knocks them down the list---they should go to page 2 -- but they don't --
I think about 4-5 threads are in this hole at any one time, but they reappear on page 2 when they have been moved even further down the list.
It caught me out at the beginning -- there is a thread somewhere on the black hole
I find it amusing that yahoo can go into so much effort making sure we don't write certain evil words like org *a*n*ise and *m*u*ff in -- yet they can't fix this --lol |

As a reward to myself for losing 10Kgs I had another tattoo done today (thats 3 now) I had my first fill last monday and have a little restriction, cant eat before 11am, can eat rice and pasta - slowly but got piece of bread stuck, that was painful! so I will keep away from bread for the time being. Jumping on scales tomorrow morning............watch this space!
Love to all

Hey all,
First: yay me - below 105kgs this morning! This was the first milestone I set for myself and I've finally done it!!
Connorripley - I didn't feel back to some kind of normal for 3 weeks or so, so don't rush intot he exercise until you know you can do it.
Bigkabus - that is awful, so sorry to hear of your dramas. You will get there eventually, btu I can totally understand how frustrated you must feel. It is very hard to have all your motivation to get on this weight-loss journey slowed down. I'm finding it hard enough to wait another 2 weeks for my first fill (6 weeks post op). I hope they fix your prob asap. Hopefully if all they have to do is flip the port back then you can still get a fill not too long after?? Or maybe they can put some fill in while they're operating??
I am finding that now, on solid foods with no fill that I am not really feeling much restriction. I am still being careful and eating small portions because I want to lose the weight, but I think it's only willpower at the moment and not much help from the band. I am really hoping I can keep up the willpower til first fill. I'm choosing much more healthy foods but starting to think about the ole favs like pizza! Have resisted the ice cream that's in the freezer (DD 5yrs just had a detal op and is on a strict diet of ice cream for a couple of days - no fair!!). So far I've only licked the spoon, not actually had any!! How hard!
Anyone have any good, easy, portable ideas for snacks in the handbag to stop the mid-late afternoon hungries? I'm fine most of the day but I find I'm getting overly hungry in the afternoon and then want to over-eat for dinner. Hard to stop myself.
Good luck everyone,
Tiff xx
PS: I have also had a few stitch-like pains - the receptionist at my surgeons office said this is quite common and will go away in time. |

| Bec, I am on liquid stage still & found chocolate custard today!! I am sure that my dietician would flip, even if it is 97% fat free. I read what everyone else is eating & I can't believe that my dietician still wants me to eat more! I basically eat soup, Up 'n Go's, apple juice & water all day. He wants me to have about 2lts of fluid & he hasn't set any restrictions of amounts other than the 2lts. Obviously I only eat about 150mls at a time but I have never eaten so much soup in all my life. I had my op on 28/10 & there's no way I could exercise yet so good on the rest of you that are! I find that I am still tired even after doing nothing all day so tomorrow should be interesting as I'm back at work. Hope everyone else is travelling well. Keep up the good work & stay positive. |

| Hey, yer I'm pretty sure if there is a problem the surgeon will fix no charge, but I would still have to pay for the hospital as far as I am aware. That is about $750 I can't afford so soon after the opp. yer I still get the cravings to munch on stuff. I do, but it much smaller portions. Find I don't want as much now. But with all this port flip stuff , who knows what will happen now. Mentally I am not capable at the moment and a great big bag of chips and pizza would go down nice. Oh dear, I never really considered myself an emotional eater. Oooooops... |

| Hi..Well I'm not very happy at all. Went for the x-ray and they couldn't do it either. She said the port has turned and facing towards my head. I was only banded 4 weeks ago, and already I am having probs with the bloody port flipping. We can't afford another opperation, so my happy road to weight loss has just driven into a very big pot hole. I'll check in a bit later when I've calmed down a bit. |
