I've just read the Fernwood ad in The Weekly and can only say that anyone who goes into lapbanding thinking it is "the easy way out" has certainly not done their homework. The lapband is meant as a "tool" to assist people in losing weight, but without a proper diet and exercise it just won't work. It works fantastically for some people and for others it doesn't, but it always has to be combined with a sensible eating plan and exercise and it is definitely never ever THE EASY WAY OUT!!!
Hope you are all going well.

Have spoken to Emma Vivian about Mr. Skidmore doing public patients. He is only doing private, so I guess the public patients are not closer. Back to being patient patients lol. Kathy, I won't be able to make tomorrow night. A few things have cropped up today complicating tomorrow. Please put in my apologies. Thanks. Will catch up soon.
Cheers,
Christine |

Hi Jac or Fiona,
There is a message on it's own thread asking about Dr Tamaris Hoffman in Wangaratta. Thought this might be the surgeon that you used, if so you may like to respond.
Hope you're both doing well.

Hello to one and all:)
Thanks Jan, I rang St. John of God to find out if Mr. Skidmore will be taking public patients but they didn't know. I rang his rooms but Emma isn't back until next week. She will ring me back. Fingers crossed!
I work Mondays from 10am - 4 or 4.30. Can't remeber. Going to give it a try again in a few minutes.
hoping to catch up with some on Wednesday at Bruces Walking Group.
Kathy, thanks so much for the info. I want to ring but flying in and out. Will ring you soon, I promise.
Cheers,
Christine |

Hi Everyone
Yes it's great news that Bendigo will finally have someone doing banding here. It's really long overdue. I was really surprised that Shepparton had it's own surgeons and we didn't. Of course it won't make much difference for those of us who've already been banded, but really good news for those who haven't got to that stage yet. It will make it much easier for those like you Wendy being able to stay with the same surgeon but see him close to home.
I do hope everyone is going really well with their weight loss journey.

Hi all,
Christine - Congratulations on the job, how may hours a week do you work?
Jan - Thanks for the info on Dr Skidmore, i was surprised there wasn't already a surgeon here considering the size of the town. It will be great for Bendigo & any prospective bandsters.
Hope you're all having a great week.

Hello to one and all!
I can't believe I forgot about this thread just after it had been set up. I have mentioned to a few friends how great it is having 'locals'.
Kathy, I didn't get your message until late last night (when I found the bit of paper under the other computer clutter:) I'm fine with you having my address. I'll ring you when I have the info.
Enjoy your walk around Kennington tonight- I will be with you in spirit if not in person!
The Werribbe Bandits met on Sunday. Deb is lovely- I think there are about 24 going. Someone said it is more like a party than a meeting. I'm looking forward to seeing them again.
Just got a job at the Maldon Lolly Shop. Not the best place for someone my size, but I need the work and I will be good at it. At my trial, a lady came in and said I looked like the sort of person she thought would run a lolly shop. I told her it was my first day. She wasn't being nasty or anything and I didn't take offence. It thought it was funny. I hope it doesn't happen too often as I think it would get me down.
Hope you are all keeping well.
Cheers,
Christine |

Hi Christine,
Just wanting you to know that I tried to ring you today to get your address, so that I could send you the info from work that we talked about at lunch on Friday & that the person who answered gave me your address, so i'm hoping that was ok.
It is being posted either tonight or tomorrow, so you should have it in the next day or two. Feel free to give me a call if you want to talk about any of it.

Hi Deb,
The weight loss has steadied at 3kgs since the fill last Tuesday. I didn't expect much to happen in the last few days as I haven't been walking & it was our youngest sons birthday, so we've had a big party all day Sat & out for tea on Sun, & as happens with parties, there is lots of bad (but nice) foods everywhere in my house.
Have a great time in Sydney even if it is really wet!! I've seen some of the weather reports too - it just doesn't seem to rain where it's needed does it.

Kathy
How's your rapid weight loss going?
I'm ready to head off to Sydney tommorrow for a few days. Based on weather reports, I think I am leaving the beautiful weather here and heading into rain. Oh well, will be busy working all day anyway.
Let's know how you're going.

Welcome to our new thread.
There are several of us from Bendigo & surrounding areas that post on numerous threads on this forum. We felt that it would assist people to find local support if we had a Bendigo thread listed in the support groups thread, as this is where most new people go to see whats in their area.
This thread is to offer support primarily for those who live in Bendigo & the surrounding areas, but of course we welcome anyone who would like to chat. It doesn't matter whether you are banded, waiting to be, or just wanting to know more about it.
We now have a regular lunch meeting which is:
The 1st Friday of every month
from 12pm
at the Boundary Hotel - Milroy St Bendigo
Please drop in and say hi & we'd love to meet up with you at our lunches. |
