Hi Missb_aust,
I am more than 6 months post OP, having my band in January of this year and I can not eat Bread, but can only manage to eat a hlaf a piece of 'Toast'. Seens I can only manage it is its toasted, go figure.
Pasta, does not sit so well with me, nor does Rice (A BiG No No For me and Noodles)
I have had a piece of Birthday cake and it was a small piece and that was pretty much a meal to me, I was Full Full.
I have not tried the Gluten side of things so cannot answer that one but may try that, I just know what I can eat and what I cant and I generally vary the things I can eat and not even bother tring the ones I cant over and over again, Im comfortable. I do try knew things and eat probably 98% vegies and the rest Fish/Seafood. I dont eat meat, Chicken or Eggs anymore.
Each to there own though, My friend has a band as well and can eat Lasange and meat and sauages so it really depends on your restirction and your body. You have to listen to it its the only way to survive. Go with it.

Hi,
I just got banded 2 days ago. I was wondering with the trouble some people have eating flour products (ie: bread) has any one tried gluten free bread & if so, did it make a difference? |

thought i would put up the recipie for a seriously orgasmic pasta bake (the best thing i have eaten on more than 6 weeks i tell ya!!)
jar of leggos carbonara pasta sauce
some pasta (whatever shape you like)
milk
grated cheese
ham or bacon
ok put the dry pasta in the baking dish
put in the milk so that the pasta is all wet on the bottom
pour the jar of sauce over the top of the pasta so its all coverd
cook in microwave for about 10 - 12 mins, and give it a stir half way
add the ham on top and a heap of grated cheese and put in the oven till done.
you can then put this in the blender, i added a bit of extra milk when blending.
yummmmm |

I cant believe that you are even eating this consistancy of food.
I've had my band in for 18 months, have 3.6ml in it.
I've been able to eat solid food in the past (sausages, chicken) but since adding the last .2ml it's changed alot.
I now pretty much live on soup (for the vegies, as cant eat them in solid form) and tuna mornay!! I also take daily supplements which I have to crush.
This is how I make tuna mornay if anyone is at similar eating as me.
Diced onion cooked until clear, then add 3 tablespoons of corn flour, 1 tablespoon of curry powder, splash of lemon juice and wilstershire sauce. Then gradually add milk (about 3/4 - 1 litre) depending on how thick or thin you like it. Then add 1 can of drained tuna and a handful of grated cheese. That's it.
Sometimes that still gets stuck but its wonderful on these cold days and nights.

It is worth trying a substitute for cream - ie cream of seafood soup etc - I didn't think I would like it but got some silken tofu and blended it up and added it as I would cream and it tasted good - not great but good and much less cholesterol and other baddies.

Potato leek and bacon soup- this was really awesome!
about 6 large spuds,
1 leek
1 brown onion
celery i think..
6 rashers of bacon
garlic
bacon or vegie stock cubes
cream for serving.
chop spuds, leek and celery, cover with water and cook in microwave about 15 mins
while you are doing that fry onion, garlic and bacon together,
when the vegies are finished add the onion, garlic and bacon to it and some bacon stock, cook for another 10 mins in the microwave,
blend in food processor, i added a bit of cream when serving. it was yummo. ;0 |

Heuvos Rancheros (Mexican Eggs and Beans!)
Scramble some eggs
Heat some refried beans (mushy beans found in Mex.section of Coles, etc)
Salsa
Light grated mozz. cheese
Optional: diced tomato, sour cream, guacamole, tortillas
Traditionally you put all of the ingredients into a tortilla and it is a breakfast burrito BUT if you are having trouble with flour products (like tortillas) I have found this is a terrific meal just layered on a plate without the tortilla wrap. Very high in protein....don't skimp on the hot sauce! |

Forgot to mention - I couldn't eat all the mix (maybe only use 1/2 a small can of the baked beans - if you can eat more, use a whole one) Remember to chew the capers and jalepenos down really well too.
Enjoy

Ok Mel - will do so right now.
Not a true recipe as such, but for lunch today (I'm on week 2 of mushies)I couldn't decided what to have - had scrambled eggs for brekkie so didn't want them again. Here's what I put together and it's yummo
1 small can of tuna (mine had tomato and onion flavour - low fat)
1 small can baked beans
a couple of tablespoons of capers (for zing)
and a couple of tablespoons of sliced jalepeno chillies (for ZANG)
mixed together and warmed through in the microwave.
YUMMY |

Here is a thread where you can all add some recipes.
I would be great if we can get a whole range for each stage. It would also be great to state what stage it is for when posting a recipe, for dummies like me!! |
