Well here goes!!
Got my band yesterday at 8am. I was discharged from kawana private thismorning at 8am!! Feeling good. Got the the hospital at 7am saw the aenethetists, on the table and back in my room by 9.30. Ther operation sites are small, port site is a bit bigger. I am calling them gunshot wounds HEHE. No pain at the sites but can feel they are there. the worst bit and it wanst too bad was the left shoulder tip pain which is a refered pain caused by filling the abdomen with gas to do the op. Have gad 3 doses of panadol. first dose through the iv then 2 liquid panadol (like kids stuff) I had my last meal at 5.30 the night before and by 7am the morning of the op i was hungry but when I woke up from surgery I had no sensation of hunger at all. All I had yesterday was one cup of broth and one cup of apple juice and today I have had one cup of juice and NOT ONE FEELING OF HUNGER????? weird... I keep expecting to get hungry and it just hasnt happend? Feeling pretty good anyway and the care at the hospital was fantastic. P.S. Dr Baxter said my liver was puuurfect!! Good luck rach. |

I caved tonight and had kebab. I have done nothing else wrong so I thought I could get away with it...Hopefully anyway.
I didn't find my target weight till I went to see Dr Baxter las wednesday. They didn't give me a BMI target either.Just to lose some weight would be good. All the best for the op and I will wait to hear from you when you are on the other side!!!
Goodluck!!!!

Hey rach... not nervous at all but VERY EXCITED!!!!!!! Opti is yuk.. I only had a bar for brekky today then a huge bowl of coli and broc with a dash of gravy for early dinner as well as a small bit of skinless chicken... surely thats less cals and carbs than 3 opties... should be ok. 2 more sleeps for me then I am first on the list for thursday. Can anyone tell me what simon the physio said theyre weight should be (Target weight) and was it much different to BMI target??
will post friday or sat Rach and let you know the verdict!! |

| hi all - well went and spoke with surgon and he was going to put 5ml in but stoped at 3ml he told me to go have a drink and see how that was - and i had trouble so he took it all out again - he said there must still be some swelling from the odema so best to give it more time - so i still have no fill at all in my band - since friday when i saw doc had the pain eating and drinking again - i guess putting fill in and taking it out must have upset the odema and made it swell a bit again - just have to take things really slow 4 me i will get there i am still going to gym 6 days aweek and sarting to enjoy it lol!!! - and the weight is still coming of - slowly - but as long as its not coming back on i am happy - i hope all those that are getting banded soon have a safe time and to those that are just banded - well done ! - i am also very keen to meet up and chat to you all - cheers bec |

delia, I suggest you try mashed potato. It slides down very easily, pop a little sausage on it and it will carry the snag down....... or it might do anyway!!
I can't eat meat very well at ll. I eat cruskits a lot and find I can eat thin roast meat on them, mashed egg etc.... BUT, I can't eat them without the cruskit. It jsut must be the right consistency and helps the food slide to its correct spot!
It's all trial and error but one thing I have learnt' is never say never. You may not be able to eat snags now, but you will one day no doubt!! |

Hi Girls
This is long if you are interested in what I am finding on my way you can read it.
I went to the Doctors for a fill yesterday. Well that was my intensions until I had breakfast and the omelet would not go down even got some stuck. I was able to bring it up.
After that I decided to just go talk to the Dr and not have the fill. She was happy to put .25ml in but I thought with Christmas coming up I would wait till early next year. My next appointment is 5th January.
The strange thing is in the last 2 weeks I have restriction (4 weeks since last fill).
I cannot now eat white bread. Not that I do but at a funeral I had a bite of an egg sandwich and boy I knew it was there for hours. One way not to eat anything else. I was not game to have a drink as I did not want to PB there.
I can eat rare tender steak but if it is cooked well or it gets stuck. WHAT a shame it is only eye fillet for me now.
The omelet was a bit dry this morning so now will be having scramble egg. The Doctor did tell me that sometimes egg will form a bit of a film and not go down. I think that is maybe what happened.
Store brought sausages are giving me grief as the meal just sits in my tubes and no way will it go down. Even a fatty mealy Frankfurt will stick. I always take the skin off of them so I know it is not the skin. My husband makes out sausages so that will be my only choice now.
My favorite bean dip just sits in my tubes and will not go down. For what reason I don’t know as it is quite moist. Saying that beans when mashed are dry so maybe this is why.
Fish unless just cooked in the microwave is also getting stuck.
Very small bites of the food at the start of the meal and work up to the teaspoon amount.. Place the food on tongue and rally taste it. Roll the food around the tongue before chewing and then back and taste and feel the texture again. This way you don’t have to chew so much. It really works.
I am learning each day different things.
Still some days I feel I ... |
