My 2nd fill seems to have kicked in and I have been having some really good days (food wise)
I have also taken some of your strategies on board and have been keeping myself busy with decorating my house for Christmas and decluttering.
Thanks to all who posted ideas to help.I KNOW what I need to do but need my butt kicking every now and then to actually do it.
I totally agree on the sleep thing. At the moment I am only getting 5-6 hours a night.I wake up exhausted and then feel sluggish all day.I also don't feel like I am getting enough vitamons or something. I keep changing what I am having - berocca or centrun or kids chewable. My dietitian is going to stock the band buddies ones so think I will probably end up taking them.
I am drinking heaps of water.I wasn't for a while because I just wasn't thirsty but now the weather has warmed up again I am drinking lots.

| I remember hearing somewhere that it has been researched that those who get plenty of sleep at night are less likely to be overweight than those stay up late. Now I dont have to be told twice to go to bed early after a long and full on day! |

Lilac... sounds like you do need more fill !
Today I have eaten...
2 cups of coffee (about to put the kettle on and have another, just got home form work)
1 cup of pumpkin and sweet potato soup
and for dinner I will have a small piece of fish with veggies - on a bread and butter plate.
The if I wanna be naughty I will have either a mini split or mini callipo
And I drink about 1.2 litres of water at least a day... I try for 2 litres but since my second fill I struggle with that !
I also will have a small glass of apple juice at night when I take my tablets.
Yesterday I had...
Coffee for breakfast
Coffee for morning tea
small can of flavoured salmon for lunch (I hate tuna & salmon but have had to learn to like it !)
Coffee for afternoon tea
cajun chicken (small serve) & salad for dinner - bread & butter plate
mini callipo
small apple juice
This is basically (minus the callipo & juice !) what my surgeon told me to eat & he explained exactly why to eat this way, so I agreed to try it his way for a few weeks at least and see how I go.
I know that I keep repeating this but I was seriously struggling & was eating ALOT & gaining weight again until I had my last fill & thought that I must have made my band slip ! As soon as I had the last 1 ml put in I instantly stopped being hungry and now I eat because I choose to, not because I'm starving, which makes it so much easier to eat better and not eat too much ! It will come together for you Lilac, I've just been really lucky & it has come for me after only 2 fills ! I was regretting having the band put in but now I love my band & think its the best thing I have ever done ! I hope the next fill for you is the golden 1 !

Hi Lilac,
Are you drinking enough water?
I find that if I am getting hungry I have a glass of water, then go and try to do something else i.e. walk around the garden, pull some weeds, tidy a cupboard etc. At night I have a glass of water and go to bed instead of staying up and having that dangerous time of snacking on naughty stuff. That seems to work for me. It is all abour arming yourself with straegies when those low times seem to haunt you. Stay strong

I thought I would post what I have eaten today to help me stay motivated to eat well.
B- 1 sachet of porridge, 1/2 cup light milk
2 cups of coffee (light milk,2 equal tabs)
L- 100g pink salmon. I cooked 1 piece of toast as well, but after 2 bites I knew it wasn't going down so just had the salmon. |

Hey Huggy,
Thanks for the reply.
I think I need more fill.
I have lost a total of 16.5kg. However 15kg of that was optifast. I lost 3kg in the liquid stage put on in the mushies and just feel like I am hovering.I seem to go down 2 weeks in a row (around 0.5kg) and then gain a kilo or so.I know my food choices haven't been the best but I haven't been eating a great deal either.I know sugar has been my biggest problem but I am getting better.
My daily intake at the moment is
Breakfast - I sachet of porridge with 1/2 cup light milk.
Then I have 2 cups of coffee between 9 and 12.
Lunch - I have been cooking 2 slices of toast but usually only get thru 1 1/2 pieces with avocado or 2 boiled eggs or 2 pieces of opened toasted cheese or a salad mini wrap.
I try to wait till 3ish to eat again but usually I get really hungary by then and feel like I could eat anything.
I have been having yogurt, choc custard, fruit or a * ** in.
Then dinner I think is pretty good but I have noticed that portion sizes are increasing.Since my 2nd fill I have had problems with spaghetti and rice.
I have a small bowl of whatever meat my family are having - we have spaghetti bolgnaise or meatballs(both made with chicken mince) or stirfry with sauce. Some nights I have prawns (300g raw weight) with some thousand island dressing.
Then I am hungary again quite soon after dinner.
I have been having hot milo, hot sustegan, hot choc or something like that.
I have also been eating once the kids are in bed - this is usually more junk type stuff.(chips, * ** ins, choc and lollies)
I know this is what I have to change. The junk part.I also think I need to add more fruit and vegies.I also think I am eating too fast.I need to slow down.
Since having my 2nd fill I have only been having one snack and one drink after dinner.

Hi Lilac,
Hope it's okay if I butt in here too....:-)
My weight is moving downwards pretty steadily and I've cut out alot of sugar and starch - here is what I ate yesterday to give you an idea. FYI - I have 4.75ml in a 10ml band and could probably do with a tiny bit more fill before Xmas, mabye to 5ml in total.
Breakfast:
1 cup tea (skim milk & no sugar)
Snack:
3T cottage cheese on a Cruskit
Lunch:
Small Sumo Salad - Tandoori Chicken
Snack:
Handful of cashews
Dinner:
1 chicken drumstick & 1/4 cup couscous
Snack:
1 cup tea & 1/4 Jalna Yogurt
So that is my average day and it is causing the weight to continue down between 0.5 - 1kg a week. I rarely feel hungry and am chewing so slowly you wouldn't believe it. My food is always cold by the time I am getting close to the end - i.e. my dinner takes 30 minutes but it is worthwhile to not get anything stuck.
Let me know how you go Lilac, thinking of you,
xxHuggy |

Hey Lilac,
I was eating yoghurt - the no fat 1s, 5 grain rice thins, nuts, optifast or tony ferguson or kate morgan once a day, cheese & I'm sure there is more but my brain hasn't started working yet this morning !
I was eating way too much too & blamed it on head hunger but as soon as I had my last fill it all changed & now I don't even get hungry at all and I can sit with people that are eating (even cake lol) & its not a problem to me ! I have also learnt about eating food really slowly, so that 1 piece goes all the way down before I start the next piece & the chew, chew, chew has finally sunk in - I do still have to think about it, but if I don't do it food will get stuck and remind me !
I had also started to eat breakfast, I hadn't eaten it for years but after my last fill there is no way I could possibly eat breakfast - so breakfast has become a cup of coffee & that is what is recommended by the lap band solution book and the doctor that did my banding. (I have my coffee with pura light start milk & no sugar)
I will post what I eat in a day tonight after I get home from work... hope this helps a bit !
How much fill do you have ? Do you get hungry ?
Take care

Hi Tahs,
I seem to be having the same struggles as you.
I am feeling better now since my 2nd fill and taking sugar balance vitamins.
Can I ask what the changes you made were to start dropping the weight?
I was also wondering if anyone would be interested in posting what they eat in a day ,to get an idea of what people at a similar stage are eating.
I have read some of the food diaries and feel like I am eating way too much.I couldn't survive on a couple of coffee's and not much food.

Hey everyone...
Lisa, for a while I could feel my port when I sat down & it was most uncomfortable !! But it seems to have gone away now ! I used to have trouble sitting at the computer as I could feel it and it felt really yukky !
pheehunter, I was eating small portions of what I thought was quite healthy food & was gaining weight ! It was heart breaking ! I ended up talking to my doctor & found out exactly what he thought I should eat & now I'm dropping weight quite quickly.

Hi girls, i was just reading thru some of your posts about not losing weight. I wonder if it is because of the type of foods you are eating. I understand that by eating really small amounts of food, you ideally should lose the weight but i could never lose weight when i ate certain foods. those foods are sweets and starches. I wonder if you cut out the sweets and starches, if it would improve your weight loss. Thats certainly what i plan to do to aid my weight loss. I have learned that my body just doesnt tolerat those foods. It is hard to resist them tho as they are all the convenience foods. But i plan to just follow it most of the time. All the best to you guys. If you decide to try it for a week, please do let me know how you go. I would be really interested to know.
regards,
Jo |

Hi everyone. Haven't written for a while but just had to reply to this one. I feel exactly the same. I've had one fill (now have a total of 4mls). Whilst I feel restriction - mainly with doughy foods - the weight just doesn't seem to come off! The most weight I've lost is with Opti!
I know I'm eating more than 1/2 cup (I'll be honest here) but there's no way I'm eating what I used to! I'm back to eating a bit of junk too (icecream and bickies) but honestly, it's nothing compared to my "old" ways.
I don't think it's been a waste of money but I really expect something to happen after my next fill.
Also, what does everyone's "full" feel like?? Mine feels like I want to do a massive burp that won't come. Also, I'm starting to "feel" my port (not with my hand). Does anyone else feel like they're aware of where it is (I hope you understand what I mean). Please God it hasn't flipped.
I hope everyone's well and happy.
Cheers, Lisa (Aus) |

Hi Guys, Haven't written for a while but just had to reply as I feel the same! I've only had one fill and have a total of 4mls (I don't know how big my band is sorry). Apparently, I had 2mls at time of the op and then 2mls added on the first fill. I do feel some restriction (mainly with doughy food) but the weight is NOT coming off.
Banded 2 months now but lost most of my weight with Opti!! I was PBing every 2nd day the first week after my 1st fill but that has settled now.
I just can't understand that I know I'm not eating as much as I used to (NO WAY!!) and the weight isn't falling off like I'd hoped. I must admit I am having more than 1/2 cup though.
Lisa (NZ) you are so much lighter than most of us and I know it takes longer the less you have to lose but I can't believe how many fills you've had! As the others have said - I'd love to be your starting weight now LOL.
What does everyone's "full" feel like?? Mine is like I want to do a massive burp but cant. Also, I feel like I can "feel" my port (not with my hand but I can feel it's "there"). I hope you get what I mean.
Sorry to ramble. In short, I don't think it's been a waste of money but I do expect to see some better results next time I get a fill.
I hope everyone's well and happy.
Cheers,
Lisa |

Hi Callie,
I am with you sweetheart! I do at times wonder if I too have wasted my money??
However I do have some restriction but the weight is not coming off?? As I said earlier I have had 4 fills and now have 5.8ml....my last fill was 0.2ml. I do wonder after driving 2 hours one way if it was even worth it?? I have not noticed any difference, I didn't think it was meant to be this hard? I never thougth that it was going to just fall off as I looked at myself in the mirror....although I wish it would!! LOL
At my fill I get weighed and I lost 800gm in 3 weeks!!! Gutted! So this week I am going to try to limit my food to 1/2 cup and heading out now to do my treadmill....lets hope by my next appointment that I would have lost a little bit more than 800gm..
Callie, what I am trying to say, in long round about way is - You are not alone in your on-going struggle.

Hey every1... hope you are all well.
Callie, I still really struggle with the whole head hunger thing too and give in all the time - I really do try hard to do the right thing but seem to be a really slow learner ! Same with eating slowly - I have tiny oyster forks now to try and make me slow down and only eat off them but I still eat too fast & have had food get stuck alot!
I have had 2 fills & 2mls was put in with the band so I am up to 5mls in a 10ml band & I think that is enough for me - I don't get hungry & it only takes a small amount of food and I am full, although I only got my second fill last week so it may loosen but the time of my next appointment in december !
