Hi July bandits
Very happy to say I walked over 12km in 2 hrs today. Never thought I would be able to do something like that - let alone want to!
Sigh...I love my little band....
Hope all is well.

Hi Everyone,
Just checking in with a little story. Yesterday was 12 weeks banded for me and I happened to be sitting in the exact hospital I was banded in early yesterday morning with my 93 yr old grandmother booking her in for surgery and my surgeon walked past to prepare for his day of banding. He stopped and looked at me with a quizzical look on his face and I told him he had banded me exactly 12 weeks ago. So we had a chat and my gorgeous old grandmother thanked him for giving me my life back etc. He was so lovely and told her that if he could help me look as good as her at her age then his job was done!!!!!
It was surreal sitting there in the same place feeling like a totally different person in many ways and yet the same but happier, healthier and fitter.
Some of us are having a good journey at the moment, some of us are struggling but in the end we are amazing, strong resilient individuals that have made incredibly brave decisions and no one knows what it is like to be us and what led us to this point in our lives.
July Banders are the best (just a tad biased)
As has been said before keep walking or exercising and drink lots of water it all helps.
Tootle Loo

Hi Mel
Don't be bummed. We all have weeks when we don't lose anything. Remember how long it took you to get to this weight - it wasn't overnight! This is the rest of our lives lovey. I have found a glass of wine helps. It doesn't help me lose the weight but it helps me relax about not losing it LOL.

Since my last fill, which was my 3rd, I have found that if I take my tablets at bedtime as I used to, I get a heartburn pain during the night. so now Im trying to remember to take them straight after dinner, then i dont have a problem. I guess this means restriction is kicking in a bit more now.

| Hi Mel, I am losing hardly anything for past few weeks. My girl is doing HSC so I'm really not watching as closely as I should. I guess that even with the band we will occasionally experience plateaus so I wouldn’t feel too discouraged. You may even have a big loss next week. Fingers crossed. Cheers Maggie |

Hi Qui,
We do seem to be tracking along at about the same pace - but lucky you are in the 80's I can't ever imagine being there.
You are right though we are all so different and it's such an individual journey.
I had my second fill last thursday - he put 2 mls in, now I have 6 mls - not sure how big my band is.
My next appointment is 4 weeks from last thurs. I saw the dietician last week as well as the surgeon. They are both really happy with my progress - they said I am right on track. So that is good.
BTW your outfit sounds lovely, good luck with the shoe hunting - some of the shoes that are in the shops are hideous at the moment!!!
Have a good week everyone

| Well done Arn, you and I seem to be keeping "company". I think you are probably doing better than me, because most of my weigh was lost in the Optifast stage before surgery, and I have only lost about 7kgs since surgery. But we are all different, so should not compare, as long as we all lose weight, then we are going in the right direction. When are you having your next fill? I had 0.3mls on Friday, making it 7.3mls in a 13mls band. |

Hi Debbie
It is my daughter that is getting married. My outfit is blue, not navy, and not light, but inbetween. It is a really nice blue, sort of warm (if you could call blue warm). The skirt is a bit flowing, longer on one side than the other. My daughter thought it looked slimming, so that is good. Went looking for shoes today, but did not buy any, so off to the shops again next weekend.
You will soon be in smaller sizes, just remember that this time you lose weight, the weight will not come back (provided you use common sense and do not fill yourself with icecream, chocolate and those things that will just melt and go through real easy). The urgency for me was purely due to my daughter's wedding, and I feel more relaxed now that I have bought an outfit. After this I will just take it slowly and not be in a rush. Even if I only lose a little each month, it will be ok.
My restriction after the fill on Friday feels really good, it does not allow me to overeat, but it still allows me to eat without fear of getting anything stuck, as long as I chew. I did have a bit of a problem on Friday night, and could not eat my dinner at all, but I now put that down to the fish being probably a bit overcooked and dry, and I did not have any sauce. So even though I chewed it well, it still was just sitting like a blob there, and it was not good. But maybe also it was because I only had the fill in the early afternoon, so maybe should not even have tried to eat and just stuck to Optifast for the rest of the day. We live and we learn. |

Hi
Mk_queen, you are so lucky to be able to sew I am absolutely a no sew kind of person. Qui what is the colour of your outfit for your sons wedding. I am still in 20's clothes but hopefully not for much longer, I'll get there I'm sure. My daughter had her 17th birthday yesterday and requested a pavlova and banoffi pie for her birthday cake. Had a little of banoffi but I'm not keen on Pav so that was one saving grace. Anyway I hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday.

| I am also going to try the clothes in the dryer tip. I have splashed out and bought some new transitional Taking Shape clothes (not the overlayered ones). Very impressed that they were a small. Ok so not an actual small but a small in the larger sizes range and that will have to do for now. What is taking some reeducation for me at least is that I don't have to actually buy the "tent and cloak" style now that a resemblence of a waist is reemerging. I feel kind of naked if I am not draped as it were in some loose fitting shapeless thing preferably in black. So here I am at 51 suddenly back in my teens (16 or 18) woo hoo live it up. |

Morning,
Kate - don't beat yourself up you are doing fantastically well - the school holidays does through the routine out of whack - you will be back into it soon and all will be well. I was worried that the hols might put me off track too and sometimes I feel that it would be so easy to slip into one of my really bad habits again - but the bad head talk is not as strong as it used to be and the strong head talk is starting to win - keep at it, you can do it.
BTW - the chocolate is OK - as my dietician says - you have to have some of those things occassionally - so you have just had your "occassionally" for a while. I had a small Carmello Koala during the week and gee it was good - I don't remember them tasting so good when I used to inhale food!!!!
I love the putting the clothes in the dryer idea - I tried it yesterday with a pair of jeans and it really helped.
I too am NEVER going to wear anything with a "2" in front of it again nor am I ever going to be triple digits again - never ever..
Qui your outfit sounds lovely enjoy wearing it and holding your head high for so many reasons.
I am to the gym before the day starts - I out a personal trainer into the mix this week and couldn't walk properly yesterday - but all is good today and I can't wait to train.
Have a great weekend everyone - back to work on Monday and the crazy madness of Term 4.

| Kate, you are doing really great :) 30kgs is a lot in such a short time. You must be feeling so much better now. I cannot believe how much fitter I am, I can run up stairs now, and walk really fast. It is great. I have a bad foot, and that hinders me a bit, but I have seen a podiatrist for the past few weeks and it is now getting better. |

Hi Arn ,Qui, Deb & any other July 09 Banders that still pop by.
I had a personal goal to 30kg lighter by today. I WAS 30 kg lighter last week but now I have a visitor(IYKWIM)and have now only lost 28kg.
I'm also a bit dissapointed as my visitor insisted I eat a lot of chocolate in the past 3 days and I'm out of my exerscize routine with school holidays too.
Monday I WILL be back on track - I'm scared the whole thing's getting out of control again. Do you ever feel like that?
On the up side I went to Autograph & tried on a size 18 shirt & it fit. It was ugly as sin but I nearly bought it anyway LOL... I haven't worn an 18 in about 15 years....
I've taken to putting all my previously very tight size 26 clothes in the dryer on hot. It shrinks them enough for me to wear them a bit longer.
One of my other goals is to never buy clothes that start with a "2" again.
Very pleased you have something gorgeous for your sons wedding!
Be good.

Hi all,
A bit difficult to describe the outfit... it is silk skirt and jacket (chiffon), with a silk top (different type silk, not sure what it is called). The skirt is long on one side and a bit shorter on the left side, it is flowing skirt, and the loose skin on my tummy does not show, otherwise I would have gone for something else. It is a very nice blue, almost the same as the writing on the posts. The jacket is not lined, so very thin, so I cannot have the orchid pinned on it, so will have it either pinned on my bag, or get it made for a wrist one... have not decided. I have not got the shoes yet, but need fairly high heel with the type of skirt, thinking a steel grey... but not sure. |

Hi
Yes I'd love to hear what you have bought for the wedding, my son is getting married next October. I have had about 4 fills with about 5.5mls in the band so far, I think that might be it for me for a while as I have had a few problems recently with food being uncomfortable for a while and having to PB a couple of times. So I think that any more might be too much. My weight loss hasn't been quick (banded end of July) but it's steady and I'm happy with it. Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

Morning All,
Qui, great to hear you got an outfit for your daughters wedding - please tell us all about it.
Also great news on the jeans - size 16 is fantastic - I bought a pair of size 18 jeans at Millers about 4 or 5 weeks ago and I was so excited (not to be in 22's) but now they are becoming so loose I keep hiking them up all the time - maybe a size 16 is just around the corner. I can't believe it - in July just when this journey was beginning I was wearing size 22 pants at a push and 22 - 24 tops - now my tops are 18 - 20 (more the 18) and pants 18 moving to 16.
How great is the band and my new found discipline, energy and motivation??
Loving the gym - although can barely walk today - but it is a good discomfort.
How is everyone else going??
Have a great day
Arn |
