| BTW Anyone who has sachets of Opti left over, try mixing it up, add a small tub of flavoured lite yogurt, and freeze, makes a lovely, low cal icecream. Works best in a blender, not a shaker mug |

I think it depends on the hospital Arn. I was hooked up to all the gizmos in there, as well as a couple of bags of fluid. My specialist also insists on oxygen, and she says it helps the healing. Go in with a positive attitude, and it will be fine. Good luck banders for this week.
Ty leslie, for doing facebook, I will certainly look for it |

Well I'M BACK! LOL. Nowhere near as bad as I was fearing would be. Only hiccup was 9am admission, 2 patients in front of me, and was told i would be in b4 lunchtime. Dinner came and went, and I entered theatre at 7pm.
thank goodness for my ipod, with all my favorite " easy-listenig" music. I was as cool as the proverbial cucumber when I got in. Out of recovery, and back into ICU by 8.30pm, but still groggy. i only needed 2 doses of IV Panadol overnight, and slept til 2am needing the loo. WALKED there, and pain is nowhere near bad, maybe 1/10.tummy is bloated tho, from the gas they pump u with, and I was ok with the liquid brekky, apple juice tea and got half the jelly down. I hope Robyn, and Bek are as well as I am. Beback soon hubby is telling me to rest, lol |

Hi everyone
Firstly well done to all those newly banded and good luck to those coming up in the next few days. Hubby and I have survived our first week of being banded and I have lost 6.7kg and hubby just under 7kg and couldn't be better, pain has gone even though we didn't really have pain as such but more of discomfort from gas and the degas worked a treat with me. One word of advise and I do know everyone is different but from a first hand experience TAKE IT EASY for the first week!! I found out the hard way and over did it on day 6 as I had so much energy and thought I could do anything...yeah right! I actually split open (slightly) my port wound and had to go to the doctors to have more steri strips and waterproof dressing back on it so that delayed what I could do by a few days...grrr but I am returning to work Monday so hopefully I will remember not to do too much. I read earlier someone was asking about optifast as they didn't have to go on it. I didn't have to either and it is a personal preference made by each doctor but also if you want to go on it there is no harm in doing so. Anyway keep up the good work everyone :).
Cheers

Hey Di,
I wish people wouldnt comment when they are told things of such a personal nature. This is your life and unless you address your weight situation, then you wont have a life at some point.
I am very close to my MIL but i havent told her yet and i was banded July 6. I developed this incessant cough and am so stressed that it might have slipped, i have explosive diarrhoea at the moment but i am still glad that i have taken this path as i feel positive about my future.
The first few days REALLY suck and here on day 5 i finally had 100 mls of protein shake but i am going to take control of my life.
We are behind you 100% Di and as scarey as it is..... you will do great
Good luck

Hi everyone
I'm 9 days banded today and life is good. Started to feel "normal" on Day 7.
For those concerned about pain etc I think we need to remember that while the pain is not huge (I've had 2 caesarians-that was painful) it's still surgery - you can't expect to be "up & at 'em" on day 3 or 4.
Yesterday was the 1st day I didn't need a Nanna Nap.
I can't really even feel the band for the last couple of days (really hope that's not a bad thing!) but still get full on a jar of babyfood!
I lost 11 kg on the optiyuck and have lost another 6 kg in the week since banding. I've never lost 17kg before (ususally lost 10 & put on 12) - the bonus with the band is that the 17 will never be going back on.
Can't wait til the end og july, when we've all started the next part of the journey!
Thinking of you all.

Jazamyne (soon2bbandedjuly09) Good luck for today. You might already be done I guess :)
Melissa (melembru77) and Rob (robinjane32)on Monday, Ann Marie (chubby_bunny39) Tuesday, Nancy (nelbel62) on Thursday and Tanya on Friday, good luck to you all, you must be getting a few butterflies by now, but also glad that your time has come. More than half way through the list, I am the one at the end of the July list, so by the time my turns come, you will all be experienced bandits :) |

G'day,
I saw my surgeon today i thought my nerves were calm until i walked up the stair towards his room. I prepared myself for all those hospital questions, weigh in, blood presure etc.. But it was not like that at all i came out feeling unsure, confused and scratching my head, this all seem to easy, all he did was squeeze my tummy, took my weight then sent me out to see the secretary, i was in his office for a total of 4 min...Plus he told me I don't need to have optifast, i can just eat normally upto the night before the op. This is why I'm scratching my head because this is not what i have been reading about. Has any one else ever been told this.I meet the anethetist next Thursday i wonder what she will have to say lol. I brought pj's today but when i got home and read these messages i see that this was not necessary OH WELL!!Even though i don't have to start optifast come Monday i will be, it has to help surely.
