Hi Kate,
It is very unlikely that you have done any damage, if you have recovered from the blockage. I dont think the band is that sensitive, just take it easy for the next few days. It's a hard lesson we all have to learn chew and eat slowly. So don't worry.
Cheers Shaz :) |

| Tonight was my last normal meal as I start opti tomorrow. Two weeks to go and I'm on. 7pm session which could mean that I end up being banded around midnight! |

Hi everyone - well done to all of you who've been "done" today & BOL for the rest of the week.
I had my first OMG moment tonight. Without thinking I put bread in my mouth & swallowed it. It got stuck & it's not fun. Until now I wondered how I'd know if something became lodged...trust me - you'll know.
I drank some water & it forced it down - now I'm panicing madly that I've buggered up my band position. Today is day 11 banded.
Can anyone with more experience tell me how / when I will find out if i caused damage?

Hi all
Hope all went well today Melissa and Rob, and good luck for tomorrow Ann Marie, congratulations to those that were banded in the past few days.
hubby and I are day 12 now (counting the day of banding) and hubby still isn't hungry but I was a bit today and put it down to going back to work and using extra energy. We still only have 2 meals a day with water in between. We both have problems with constipation but found a banana smoothie works a treat :) lol. For those of you that would like some recipes or some ideas I have a few my best friend from Adelaide gave me just before she was banded in May if you would like them email me at odd_couple_from_tas@yahoo .com.au and I also have facebook with that email address that I set up just for banders. If anyone else has food (liquid) ideas let us know.
Cheers

| Impea, at least you can look forward to saying goodbye to the Optigloop after your op. I don't think your child will be a problem with hubby around, as long as you don't try picking him/her up. The wound sites are very sore at first but the pain subsides substantially within the first week. |

Hi Nelbel,
Good luck with your operation in the coming days. As for your question about the nightie, you could pack an old one but I wouldn't bother buying a new one as so many of us never got to wear anything beyond a hospital gown during our stay. I couldn't even wear a dressing gown for those trips to the bathroom because of the drip on my arm. That was fun. Trying to keep the back closed with one hand and steering the drip which had wheels like a wonky shopping trolley with the other hand! |

Congrats soon
Sounds like a bit of a epic but you got there in the end.
I am worried about how I will cope with my 18mth climbing all over me. hubbys having 2 weeks off so hopefully wont be an issue.
1st meal of opti this morning and (yuk ) is an appropriate word. I managed to get most down but I had to drink water inbetween. Hubby took some pics yesterday so I just keep looking at those to motivate me when I feeling hungry.
Hope to get a nice walk in today.
Good Luck to everyone pre op and post op.
Good on you Narelle for gaining the support of your family I have alot of support from my family and avoid those that dont support me. |

| Congratts to all who have had the band done and good luck to those in waiting! Hey all im back! Here is my story lol Well i got up 5am for my 9 olock appointment but they didnt even take me in till 4pm! So i wasted the whole day waiting then had my surgery apparently i had a huge hole in my diaphram and osophegas which had half of my stomach lodged in there so they fixed that then another large hernia under my belly button and abdomen area so they fixed that lol then i became a bandit! Yes im officially a bandit but even though i said i was still in pain they only let me stay one day and sent me home with panadol so im really not happy about that at all im still in alot of pain and its very hard with my 16 month old Ps its day two liquids and im starving lol I missed you all heaps!! Happy to be out of that place anyway lol |

Hi everyone, Ive been reading all the posts and am so grateful that I googled(opps should I say that on yahoo?!) - lap banding and found this forum. I have had so many questions I wanted to ask explained and so many that I didn't know I wanted to ask. I'm off to the surgeon today to sign my papers and then3 days to op day.
Thanks to everyone being so candid about everything and Im happy in the thought that we are all different and each of us will experience LBing differently but also I can hop on here and post my concerns, triumphs and thoughts and know that you are all going through the same things.
PS: I won't bother to pack a nightie then will I?.... ;) |

It feels strange reading of the long waits many have had. I had my first appointment with my surgeon who booked me in for my op less than two weeks later. So it was straight on the Optifast and banded in less than a fortnight from that initial appointment. I don't regret that, though. Once you've decided to do it, might as well get on with it and hopefully get the results sooner.
As I said in general chat, I learnt more of the ups and downs on this forum than I did from my surgeon or medical literature so thanks all for your honest feedback and personal experiences. Without that, I would be quite panicked about some things, such as the constipation. |

| CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who has had the band done.I've still got 12 sleeps to go it feels as it is taking for ever. I had a get together with my family today and i told them what i was doing, my mum already knew but my brothers were quite shocked, they were negetive to start off with but then i think they finally understood. They realize this is a big decision and i did'ny make it without doing proper research. It is going to be important to me to have positive support around me that is why i appreicate the july group. Hello all! I am getting so excited reading about everyone who has already been banded. I have 10 days to go! I am not nervous at all. But maybe the day of the op. My dietitian has told me to start taking a vitamin and fibre suplement and continue for the first couple of weeks, post op. I wasnt to keen on it, but after reading the last few posts, I will do anything to avoid severe constipation. I had it after the birth of both my children.
Good luck everyone being banded this week! Next week I will be one of the lucky ones!

| Hi Creature. I was at Cabrini possibly the same day as you. This post-op constipation is obviously quite common. |

Hey Everyone, Hope we are all doing well.
Im day 6 from my op now. Chris i am also still constipated- despite the laxatives I have tried.
Its been a full 7 days since i went :O- but i dont feel constipated really?
Have finally spent the day without pain killers. Not overly hungry today i ate a 1/2 a blended wheat bix warmed up, 50g of WW mousse, 1/4 cup blended braised steak and onion and 1/2 a cup of baked beans blended
Not sure if thats alot or not? I feel grossly full all the time its almost painful sometimes? is everyone feeling like that?
Nyways i have only lost about 2 kg since monday.
Cheers
