Hi Kate,
I think by your response to Narelle that you are going to be a real help to alot of us that feel that we are not achiving our weight loss. I think that it would be great to wake up and have it gone but we need to work at it bit by bit.
Thank you

| Narelle, I have bumped "the rules of the road", I am going to read it myself again, but maybe you can see if there is anything you are doing that you can change. Other than that, I can say that I really did not have restriction until 4th fill, so you might need a fill. Can you bring forward your appointment? It seems a long time to have to wait. |

Hello Everyone
I'm back from holiday and feel great. Expected a gain, but the scales were kind to me, and the 'gain' was no more then what the scales can fluctuate from day to day anyway, so I am very pleased. It proves to me that the band works well and in spite of me eating what I felt like having, including indulging in an icecream every day of my holiday, the band provides a "brake" to the food intake. I am very happy to have come back with a plus/minus nothing (the scales showed 0.5kg +, but I feel bloated this morning, so I think a lot of that is fluid, so not going to count it).
Now of course I want to get back to start losing again, so no more drinking with my meals, no more wine or sweets. Icecream is my real weakness, and it is banned from the house.
The wedding was so nice, and I felt that I looked nice too. For the ones that are on facebook (July Bandits) you can see photos from the wedding there.
I have not read all the posts since I have been away, but will get stuck into that over the weekend.
Have a great one, I intend to, not going to work until Wednesday.

Well it was probably the best day to go for a fill seeing as my lunch got stuck so they took all the fluid out and i flushed it down with water and then put it back and a bit more.....and now I have restriction! Yay!
The doc was very happy with my progress so far, and I have told him that we plan to start trying for a baby in the next couple of months! Its all very exciting!

Hi all,
How's everyone going?
I am going for a fill today, thank goodness.....I have been soooo hungry lately, and have been very naughty actually. The weight has slowed down the last couple of weeks. But I'm well and truly in the 80's now so I'm very excited.....and have lost 11.31 off my BMI which I am very happy about.

Thanks for your kind words. I understand what your saying it's just that i expected to loose alot more by now. I am walking between 30min - 45min each day.My main bit of confusion is that am i supposed to have the sensation of being full with this band or just not hungry there is a difference, because even when your not hungry it's still easy to eat but when your full you don't feel like eating at all.????NARELLE |

Hi Narelle
Don't be depressed! A 7kg loss is a loss - imagine what you might have gained without the band.
I think you'll find nobody really gets restriction until the 3rd or 4th fill.
February seems like such a long time to wait tho so I understand your anxiety there. Is there any chance of your Dr moving you forward?
You can always beg.....
Are you walking? I've found that is the key for me. Make sure I walk. Even just out to the clothes line a couple of times to start with if that's all you can manage and increase it from there.
Also, remember how many years it's taken you to get to the weight you are - it's not really fair on ourselves to expect it to just disapere. Be a bit gentle on yourself - what would you say to your daughter or a friend feeling the way you are at the mo? Use some of that gorgeousness you give to others on yourself woman!
Keep in touch, we're here for you.

Hi all
It's been quite some time since i've written here. I'm all depressed. I was banded in July and only lost 7kg. I have had two fills which i now have a total of 7ml. I have absouluately no restriction what so ever my appetite is exactly the some as before the band. I do get alot of blockages though. I really thought at this stage i would get full on one weetbix but that is not the case for me. Is ther something wrong? I see my doctor in february for my next fill, but he's only going to put in 1ml.Should i be worring or is this normal???? Narelle |

Welcome back & well done Creature & the really hard way too! Keep in touch & let us know how you're going.
Has anyone gotten anything well & truely stuck? I tried cereal for the 1st time since my last fill yesterday. Only had 3 spoons full & whammo it wouldn't budge - vomited all day & took all day to bring it all up.
Tentatively tried 1 spoonfull again this morning & the same thing happened. By midday I was desperate to get rid of it so as suggested on this board I tried coke. It was gone in about 5 minutes (man that stuff must be bad for you!)
The moral for me is that I won't be eating before about 11am & I'll be keeping those tiny cans of diet coke in the fridge for emergencies.
I'll be sticking to liquids for the next couple of days. My throat is so sore from vomiting I'm quite worried about how irritated my little pouch & the opening are.
Arn & Qui you're always so posative I love reading your posts -thanks for staying in touch.
Glad the wedding was fabulous - imagine how great you'll look in christening photos LOL!

Great day at the wedding, I think everyone had a good time. Weather was perfect. My daughter looked so good, and she thought the day was just perfect. The groom looked good too, he is such a nice guy, and his family are also very nice.
We are off to the airport for our holiday in the next hour or so, so I will be off line for the next week or so.
Jo, hope you are feeling better soon, and that you can get rid of the kidney stone. They say it is the worst pain that anyone can experience. |

| Good Morning All, what a day i had yesterday. Got taken to Wangaratta Hospital by the AMbos as i was in so much pain. Since i receieved another 1.2 mls in last week i have struggled to eat. I thought it may have had something to do with that, so they removed 1.5 ml as i was completley dry. After xrays and ct scans they found out that i have a kidney stone, and due to me being sick alot in the last week and a half , i have collic in my kidneys. So much fun. I feel so much better today. |

Qui - hope you have the best time. NO wedding would ever be complete without some little wardrobe mishap so you have had yours now with the suits ....should be all good now!!!! Fingers crossed.....
Don't worry about the foods this weekend, just make sure you chew.
Have the best time, we will be thinking of you.
BTW - my last post said that this time NEXT week I will be a size 10 - 12 - ummmm, I don't think so - I meant to say this time next YEAR....
Take Care

Hi Arn
Yes the wedding is tomorrow afternoon, so I am ready with tissues in hand... Saturday we fly up to the Sunshine coast for a week's holiday, much needed by now. I have had minimal sleep in the last couple of weeks, so feel rather worn out.
Anyway, hope nothing goes wrong tomorrow, we have already had drama with the boys' suits... wrong sizes even though they were measured and promised correct fits 3 months ago. My daughter gave the store a lot of grief over this, and they have hunted all over Melbourne for suits, and have finally been able to get all 4 boys dressed and ready. Not easy since 2 of them are 6'6" and the other 2 are 6'4", so they are not the average off the rack size boys. The suits will be ready tomorrow, had to be altered.... so if they are not ready, someone will be sorry!!!! Just the sort of stress that we did not need at this stage.
Anyway, hopefully all will be ok tomorrow. At least the weather seems like it is going to behave.
Weight wise, I have probably had too much of the "not allowed" foods in the last couple of days, and I guess tomorrow will make 3 days... We had a dinner at home with the 2 families on Wednesday night, and today we had a high tea at one of the hotels in the city, and of course at the wedding I am not going to even try to behave, only restraint will be with foods that could upset the band, so will be carefull to chew chew chew... but I am going to have some cake and dessert. After tomorrow, back on the straight an narrow. |

HI All,
I had my third fill today, they said I am a model patient!!!!! Woo Hoo.......I have lost 36% of my excess weight since the banding journey and they said that this time next week if I keep going the same way I will be a size 10 or 12 - I just laughed and said that would never happen, and he said "Did you think you would ever lose 20+ kilos in 3 months or so or be training 5 times a week?????"
Moral of the story - even if I never get that small I am still in shock at the new me already and so happy. What a great tool the band is and gift we have given ourselves!!!!!!!
How is everyone else going ??? Small, baby steps and we will all get to where we want or need to be.

Hi All,
Qui and Kate how fab - you are both doing so well.
I banded 4 months ago today and I have to say that it is the best decision I have ever made for myself.
Today I reached half my weight lost - yea - I can't believe how it is all going. If I didn't know better you would think this is an easy road we are on, but I love my band and the help that it is giving me to get my life in order......4 months ago I was avoiding any physical activity and had stopped looking at myself in the mirror, I was pushing into size 24 and feeling awful ...now I train 4 -5 times per week am wearing 16 bottoms and 18 tops (that are getting big), and I keep looking in the mirror because already I look totally different. It is a total shock.
What a great bunch we are - keep up the great work everyone.
Cheers
Arn :) |
