Narelle,
Not that I am glad someone is going through the same emotions as me but it is comforting. The opti is fine but I am day dreaming about food....burgers, chips, schnitzels etc etc....what a case!!!
You right about the thoughts to get us through though - we are going to Fiji on December 31st and I am determined the tray table on the plane is going to come down flat and I can put my drink on it not my children's tray!!!!
4 sleeps - OMG - I just realised I am 9 sleeps - we will get there together.
Small NSV this morning - I could easily do up a pair of jeans that I couldn't even get the button close 2 months ago and I can breath while sitting in them...YEA.
Hope everyone is well

Arn.
I'm going through the same emotion as you, thinking about all the food i can never have again.I know it was my love for food that got me here in the first place, but i am struggling with the knowledge of not being able to eat certain food ever again.I'm just trying to stay positive and look at what i am getting in return.I'm planning a holiday to Singapore & Phuket next year and there is absolutley "NO" way i am going to ask for a extentable seat belt.I think these sort of thoughts are what is going to get us through.
I am getting so so so so so so nervous with ONLY 4 sleeps to go. NARELLE |

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I have been off the air - have spent the weekend catching up with friends etc.
Firstly - good luck to all those being done this week - how exciting. I will be thinking about you all and crossing everything.
Secondly - Opti is going well actually - I have lost just under 4kg's since Wednesday - the worst time was Thurs night at the movies. How is everyone else on Opti going. I hate the chicken soup - blah - I find it easier to skull the shakes.
Thirdly - I am struggling to imagine never biting into a burger with the lot, or tucking into a large roast, or a roast beef roll or something like that....I know that is terrible and gives you a great insight into the types of foods I love and that got me in the state!!!! How are other people's heads going??

I was reading through the list and wow there are a few people being banded this week. Good luck to all on the list for this week and keep us posted on your progress. I am heading into my 3rd week of being banded and lost 6.8kg the first week and another 2.6kg this week with hubbys total being 10.2kg so I'm not far behind him! We have our first fill on the 30th July so that's not far away. A ??? to anyone that might know the answer to....why can't we have anti inflamatories (like voltaren) anymore? Was just wondering before I find something to take for my back. It has been giving me grief since over doing it in the first week (yep silly me)!
Cheers

LOL Lizzy, thats something that would happen to me to! It's hard knowing who to tell, I haven't told very many people at all. Just don't need their judgments, it was a hard enough decision without that.
I'm glad that sooner or later I am going to feel normal again, I'm day 6 post op and I am feeling better each day, still quite a bit of pain though!
Take care

Morning all!
Good luck to this weeks bandits to be -
(julgem55), Dianne (mk_queen), Kim (tigergal65), Mike (mikewtas), Suzanne (huntersuzanne@y7mail.com ), (July22nd09), (terratime29)
Narelle (busso.gecko)
I just did a count of our list and there are 38 of us in the July bandits group! If anyone ended up doing a facebook thingy let me know. I searched for July Bandits but couldnt find anything.
Well I am day 10 now and starting to feel more human - I went to the movies yesterday (saw "the hangover" - very rude but funny!) and I am even venturing to Ikea today. So things do get better.
My girls also get back from Grandma today - they dont know I have been banded - to tell or not to tell - that is the question! I have only told my mother. My friends all think I have had swine flu - just my luck I will end up getting the flu and then I will have a bit of creative explaining to do!
Take care all - Lizzy |

Hi everyone
I just wanted to tell you all about my last supper. It was amazing. Hubby and I went to Gauchos (in Adelaide). I've never been there before but I knew it was basically a steakhouse. OMG everything about the night was great. The food, the service, the company. I'm not really a big steak eater anyway but I thought that if I won't be having steak as I know it ever again then I had better give this restaurant a go before it's too late. Anyway, I had the meals of all meals and don't regret absolutely pigging out. I can confidentaly say that I've now been to Gauchos but now I am ready to become the new me.
I have just completed day 2 of opti with just a small slip up of about 12 cashews. I was really cross with myself but hey it could have been a lot worse but I was able to stop myself - 12 days to go.
Good luck and best wishes to those getting banded this week.

Welcome to the other side Nancy! I am 5 days post op and I am still in a fair bit of pain, the shoulder pain is sometimes very bad and I walk aroud with a heat pack on it, take mintec and panadol.
The liquid stage isnt too bad, I'm still not really hungry at all. At the moment I'm sipping on a banana smoothie and I am going to make some potato, leek and bacon soup later.
I am feeling very low in energy so as of this morning I have started taking berocca. I found that having youghurt yesterday made me feel very ill so I dont think I will go back there for a while!
Hope you continue feeling well and well done!
Mel
PS. It feels great when the weight starts coming off, it's all worth it! |

Hi everyone, Im back from sugery day 2 post op and doing a lot better than I thought i would be. Was wheeled in at 2.30pm and back in my room at around 4.30. I have had no problems with expeling gas and the pain was minimal, more dicomfort that pain around the wounds. I only had panadol through the drip line and then soluble ( this stuff is disgusting)after the gastroflex swallow ( this was not as bad as the soluble panadol- yuk). I am now takeing normal panadol but breaking it up so it goes through without a problem. And now liquid diet for a month - this is going to be a real test.
Im not feeling nauseaus?? but tired. Shoulder tip pain only lasted for about 12 hours. So really it seems that we are all different and Im just glad mine has gone smoothly and wish all the rest of the July banders are able to say the same. Good luck to next banders.
take care

Di, good that you don't mind the Optifast, just make sure you drink a lot of water also. I have done 1 weeks already, but having my "last supper" tomorrow at my grandson's christening lunch. After that 12 days og Optifast before surgery same day as you.
Your sisters and you will be good support for each other, that is great. Good luck. |
