Hi Anna - we're twins!
I'm a bit like you - Can pretty much eat what ever I want. I will have my 1st fill on tuesday next week so I'll let you know how I go. 8 Weeks seems like a looong time. Since the bread episode I've been absolutely fine until this afternoon....I need some advice & will be posting a few Q's I need A's to!
Stop eating buckets of chips! Or at least share them with me lol!( I like mine with gravy...mmmm chips & gravy)
Pretty sure this qualifies as a food fantasy!
Keep in touch band buddy.

Hi Di,

It is great that I haven't cheated and it seems OK and then Bam - horrible head hunger. My kids have been great and my eldest daughter (14) has been preparing some meals so I don't have to look at it.

It is great to see the scales moving downwards lets hope it becomes a regular occurance.

Take Care

Arn

Hey everyone!!! How are we all going? Ive had a bit of a bad week. After 2 weeks of LB life everything was fine then bam! I have been getting extreme pain in my port area and off to see the DR 2morow. I suspect I may have moved my port... :(
Have also put on about 1kg during my week on mushies!

Crossing my fingers I dont need to have my port re positioned!

Cheers

Hi I am on day 5 of Optifast and have been to see the assistant surgeon today. So far I have lost a couple of kilos. I have been very good and that's very hard when you have to cook for the rest of the family!!. I just have a question if anyone can answer it (I forgot to ask today, and should have written it down) It says in the hospital papers not to take your regular medication in the morning of admission, I take mine at night (Diabetes and Cholesterol) would that be okay?

Re:Anyone getting banded in July 09? Reply to this message
Hi All,

I just made the appointment to see Dr George H in Brisbane. I have done a heap of research already and starting to come to terms with the prospect of the whole lifestyle change .....but I know it will be worth it.

Approx 130 kgs now and 5'9 tall Female.

I have been reading the dietician literature regarding the post op eating 1-21 days after surgery - but what i would really like to hear from is someone that has has the surgery 4-18 months down the track.......and how and what to expect in terms of socialising and continuing a normal life and regular meals .......

Are there any brisbanites in the 30-40 age bracket that would like to share their story with me ?

Thanks in advance

Dilly

Hi guys, It's been 2 weeks today and I'm feeling really good. Have been out walking and that's going well too. My problem is that I am feeling really hungry. The dietician says I can move through mushies to normal food at my own pace. The trouble is I could easily overdo it. My willpower isn't great but I'm trying really hard. I can't wait for my first fill, am hoping that will help. My dressings, waterproof and steri-strips are all off but the disolvable stitches are still there and sticking out. Does anyone know how long these take to disolve? Well done to everyone who has been banded, we share something really special and I feel lucky to have you all to share with. Good luck to those who are still waiting. Chris...

Re:Anyone getting banded in July 09? Reply to this message
Hi Arn

Congratulations for not cheating. That is really good. I'm on day 5 opti. I'm doing ok with it. I find it hard when preparing the evening meal for the rest of the family and find myself taste testing and then again after the kids have gone to bed I'm wanting something sweet. Overall, I've been quite good. I hopped on the scales last night, even though I said to myself not to weight until at least the end of the first week, and I was down 1kg. Yay!!! I can't wait until my name is at the top of that list. Bring it on.

Good luck to everyone.
Di

Helen, The reason they ask you not to take Anti inflams is the damage they do to the gut. As they dissolve, the DO damage the lining, and as your lining is already in a tender state, a lot of docs ask you to stop them. It may be only temporary, but you can ask your doc again, at your next appointment. cheers, Robin

Hi Helen,
I phoned my Dr last week re a painful lump and was told to put an ice pack on it and take asprin or brufen (specifically an anti-inflamatory) with food for 2 days and ph again if not better. So I'm not sure why you couldn't take them as long as you still took them with food. Best ask your Dr for an explanation tho.
Congratulations on your weight loss. You and hubby are doing so well.

Kate,
I'm in QLD & was banded the same day as you. How are you travelling? I was interested re your bread episode... By day 4 I was sooo hungry. I discovered last Wed I can eat anything ie a toasted cheese sandwich, bucket of chips, non vitamized oxtail & vegie soup!, which is very disappointing as I really expected, even tho I have no fill, I would be flat out tolerating a cup of soup for at least a couple of weeks.
Did your Dr put any fill in at the time of the op? When do you go for your 1st fill? I dont have one til week 8. Will need my jaw wired shut long before then.Lol
Hope all is going well for you..

Re:Anyone getting banded in July 09? Reply to this message
I have been reading through other threads and the message seems to be - "you will probably feel pretty ordinary for 14 days at least".

Even if you do feel ok REMEMBER - you have just had surgery, you have wounds in your abdomen, you have internal stitches on your stomach and port, you possibly have trapped gas in your abdomen, you have had a general anesthetic. We should be feeling ordinary after all that!

Please be kind to yourself, take it easy, rest and look after yourself. You want to heal properly. Lizzy

Re:Anyone getting banded in July 09? Reply to this message
I used to think that as well Arn.

Tayna today was my first real day out apart from a trip to the doctor the other day cos I was feeling very ill. Today I actually drove myself and went to the supermarket, it took me about 5 times longer than usual! But I am day 7 post op.

Each day does get a little better. I am still in pain but the wind is a lot better. Are you taking something for the wind?

Well done Mel - it's like the Biggest loser dream outfit. Imagine wearing a 14 - I remember in the dark ages when I was a 14 and I thought I was big!!!!

Tanya, it's not good that you are feeling so ordinary, how many days banded are you??? Not sure what to suggest as you are further ahead than me, but be kind to yourself.

Well on the topic of clothes I was in Target today and they are having the clearance of clothes sale that happens every so often so I got a couple of things for my little girl and then I got myself a top that cost me $5 reduced from $39.99.....and its a size 14. I thought to myself it can be my "goal" top! Will be a long road until I can get into it but imagine how good I will feel when I can!

I also like TS (taking shape) - actually I love their stuff but it is a bit pricey.....I can't wait to pay normal price too - but am a bit scared of the damage that may occur on the credit card when there is so much choice.

Thanks for the congrats on the jeans - I am amazed - soon they will be too big - yea.

My youngest daughter who is 11 keeps telling me hat she can't imagine me not "round" and asked me if I would still be cuddly. God love her....!!

I keep telling my eldest who is 14 that I will be borrowing her clothes - she not impressed by that thought. I aim with them though, I have no picture in my head or clue on what it might be like to be slimmer - it seems very foreign to me.

Sorry for prattling on
