Hi everyone - I lost you! I don't know how or why but the only way I could find our little July group was to Google the thread heading. I've missed you all so much - it's silly!
So I've read thru & caught up on everyones progress and I'm so proud of all of us who are already banded and really excited for those who will be done in the next 5 days -July is almost complete - how exciting! Opti is so very nearly a thing of the past.
I've been banded 24 days today & will have my 1st fill on Wednesday. I've been experiencing "stitch pain" on left side sinceday 19, but I now feel confident that it's not my port breaking or anything so I'm much happier. I'll discuss it with my surgeon when I see him this week.
The best news is that I've lost about 18kg since starting Opti & I can do up a pair of size 22 jeans for the 1st time. I've been a snug (ok tight) 26 for about 8 years.
So come Hell or high water, I love my band.
Feel a great sence of calm now that I've located our thread! Phew!
Sending love & calming vibes to all those about to jump!

Qui & dnwaiting
R u both from Adelaide?
Im in Adelaide and had the band last Monday, I had to be there at 7am too....just to warn you...I didnt go in for my op until 12:30pm.
Im not telling you this to be mean or anything I just wanted to let you know.... coz the wait was agony for me.
I woke up all ready to go thinking if I had to be there that early that I should be one of the first which was good coz t would get it out of the way (I was very scared!!) but it wasnt to happen!
Only plus side was that by the time my turn came around I was over the waiting and just wanted it over with!
Take a good book or something to keep your mind occupied just incase! But hopefully it doesnt happen to you!!
And good luck!!

Hi everyone and thank you nelbel1962 for your well wishes. I have to be in the hospital by 7am so it's a early morning for me and my husband and daughter, 16 years old(who wants to come, but I think she just wants to get out of school) I've told her that it will be pretty boring. Optifast is going fast but I couldn't do it without the extras Dr Anderson has said we can have.

Hi qui_xxx

I need to be at the hospital at 8am so it looks like I really will be the last one for the July bandits. It feels like ages ago when the first July bandster went in for her op. With respect to the Opti I've tried really hard to just stick to the 3 shakes plus water and teas the last couple of days to try and get my weight down a little more. Just keeping busy so I don't think about food and then having water when I feel hungry. You think you'll be "shaking in your boots", I reckon I'll be a blubbering mess. I hope not but I'm quite an emotional person at the best of times. All the best with your count down, I'll be thinking of you on the day.

slimmerme38, when do you have to be at the hospital on Friday? I have to be there at 7am, so I hope that I am early on the list. Only 6 of us to go for July now, it is getting a bit scary. I was doing allright on the Optifast, but I am struggling at the moment. Just hope I can stick to it for the last week. Cannot wait to get this done, even though I will most likely be shaking in my boots Friday morning.

Hi All,

I had my op on Monday, and after my worries about having to have open surgery, I was fortunate enough to get by with laparoscopy. I am doing well, my only problem is I have to sleep on my back instead of my side because it hurts to be on my side!

I am so pleased I have had it done, and am a little nervous about starting on mushies, at least with liquids I figure they will go through un-obstructed :)

Hi July Bandsters,

The list is certainly shrinking (hopefully like I will be soon).

I'm on day 8 of Opti. Everything is going well except maybe for the lack of toilet attention. I actually like the the shakes. I've lost 2kg so far. Not as much as I would have liked but at least it's going down. I had appointment with surgeons assistant yesterday and from what i can gather, I think I've been having too many vegetables. I did however take my measurements before I started and again after one week on Opti and I've lost 13cm. Yay!!! Anyway, 7 more sleeps until my op and I am soooo ready to be on the other side and starting my recovery.

Well - its official - I am a big fat looser! Here are my stats:

Height 164.75 dob 9/7/9 SW 99 CW 91.7 TL 7.3kg

This is the first time I have told anybody my weight. This is just between me, you and the other 100 billion people on the internet reading, so no telling otherwise I will hunt you down and force feed you doughnuts.

I went and had my 2 week post op check today. All is good and back in four weeks for a fill. Simple as that!

The sun is shining and my bum is shrinking - cant get any better than that! Im off out to enjoy the rest of the day.

Hi Everyone,

What a beautiful day in old Sydney town - fabulous. Hope Narelle is doing fine today - how is everyone else???

I can't believe I am up to 4 sleeps now until I am done - 5.3 kilos down on Opti and feeling pretty good. Another good stat - Blood glucose down from 17.3 to 9 - how fantastic is that and BP from 185/110 last Monday week ago to 135/65 on Wednesday. Healthier me here we come.......

I know it will be a bit hairy after the Op for while but being on Opti has actually put me in a good frame of mind.....

Hope everyone is well

Cheers

Hey Mel,

Luck you not much wind pain, I am still getting a bit of it, but must admit its not as intense.

Not sure where the port is, but the last day or so my left side has been quite sore mostly to the point of a stabbing feeling and therefore I have been having trouble walking, almost like I am elderly and have had hip replacements, one foot in front of the other. Still very nausea late arvo early evening and not hungry at all.

Am back home again from work after 2 days back - maybe thats why I have been sooo sore - although I sat all day.

Morning everyone- Good luck Narelle for today!! & Bella trust me you will start to feel better but dont overdo it!!

Anyways Im feeling much better now , according to DR i scratched the muscle around my port site by overdoing it (ie mopping/vacuuming ) the house! It was so painful i thought i had moved my port!

I have put on atleast 1-2 kg in the 2-3 weeks since my OP arrrgh scary! I really can eat anything I want at the moment! but im getting my first fill on Tuesday. Nervous but excited at the same time.

Anyways hope all is well, good luck for the last of the July banders!!

Hows everyone going?

Good luck to all those getting banded in the next couple of days!

My wind pain has pretty much gone. Took my waterproof bandages off last night, thought they would look messy but its all neat and tidy! Although where I think my port is is very sore, especially if I stretch or move the wrong way, does anyone have this?

And I think that yesterday because it was my first day of feeling "normal" I might have overdone it and I'm really exhausted today!

Hope everyone is travelling along well.

Congrats Trish that is absolutely awesome - how hot are we all going to be????

Good on you putting the bike in the living room - my treadmill is there too....I used to walk on it watching biggest loser - but one time I walked watching biggest loser and eating a Mars Bar - who was the loser???? Now I am feeling motivated (today) to walk on it and not eat - lol!!

Keep up the good work

Narelle,

Don't beat yourself up your emotional outburst is nothing but part of the rollercoaster we are all on - we are making HUGE decisions and putting ourselves first probably for the first time in years and we aren't used to it!!! It is scary, exciting and daunting what we are all doing but we are so worth it!!!!

If it makes you feel any better - I had a total meltdown with my 14 year old this morning and she sat there and looked at me with a perplexed look - I don't know what triggered it and she certainly didn't deserve it but I went off like a firecracker and then dissolved into tears.....a total nutter.....

Tomorrow is your day Narelle - be kind to you.

Take Care

Re:Anyone getting banded in July 09? Reply to this message
Thanks Mel & Robindoh (my apologies if I spelt your name wrong). The wind has all but gone.....My husband and children are so grateful hahahaha. Thank you for your advice, very much appreciated.
I weighed myself this morning and have gone from 118.7kg to 112.5kg. 6.2 kg in a week is fantastic. Am so damn excited. I already have a pair of my fav jeans from years ago when I was in the 90kg weight range getting ready for my shrinking tushie!. I know this is more than likely a lot of fluid loss, but I'll take it!! I know exactly what you mean arn about the food ads on TV and no kidding it is just about every ad on TV. Never noticed it before and I wonder how many times I went to the fridge or pantry for something to nibble on when these ads came on. Must of been quite a few times because my reaction to these food ads was to feed my face. I have put the old dusty exercise bike in the lounge room and when the ads come on and the old feeling of the feeding frenzy sweeps over me, I ride like the wind, haha.

Good luck everyone

Trish
