Arn thats a great idea - I would like to be apart of that. I think its a good idea to support ourselves though the highs and lows. We need to be able to be positive and encourage each other. I am with you!

Morning everyone,
Wow - today is Day 3 post op and I feel pretty good - from memory I am sure my 2 C sections were worse, but that was a while ago. Pain killers are down to a minimum, only took them twice yesterday - morning and night. Sleeping well - 8 hours straight last night. Sure there is still some discomfort and coughing, laughing etc are not too pleasant, but walking etc getting much better.
I have alot of stairs in my place and they are a bit tricky but can't complain. My mum is here andmy girls are being very helpful.
Was starving on 1st day but that has settled down now, each day it feels a bit different swallowing etc, it certainly will be a journey getting to know our bands.
How is everyone else going??? I am looking forward to hearing.
Cheers

Hi terratime, yeah I am stoked...I hope the luck keeps up! I think I just tolerate surgery well for some reason. It was the same with my ceasar....I was out of hospital within 2 days after having that! My mum drove 9 hours to "look after" me and she really only needed to do that the day after the op (when she made me chicken & spinach soup YUM!)I was just a little sore then.
I have a friend that cant believe I am up and walking around. when she was banded she was hunched over in pain for 2 weeks!
The pain is obviously an individual issue and I think we still need to look after ourselves during this period after the op. (Sometimes I bung it on a bit so my husband will get off the couch LOL) Good luck with you terratime :) |

| Wow Cozzie thats great that you are feeling that well. My mum was down and thought we would be out shopping too. I did not move of the couch for a week and she was stuck cooking cleaning and looking after my kids. Nt sure if I was unlucky with my pain or maybe just a sook. I did have a hernia repair on my diaphagm. Maybe thats caused the extra pain. |

Hi, I'm 4 days post op now. Doing really well. Haven't rested much unfortunately. Have little pain now.
My mum has been down to "look after" me and all we have done is shop! lol. My surgeon is very happy with my progress. My diabetes has disappeared and I have now lost 10kg since opti. Well done to everyone and keep the comments going as they are great to read. |

Glad to hear everyones doing so well!
I am feeling great off all meds though I might take some panadol before bed just to take off the edge on the sore port cut.
I feel really good apart from having a cold cough thing which makes things hurt a bit when I cough mainly.
Am starting to have soups optifast now and yogurts and juices.Have had no problems a little bit of heartburn but I have some milk and it seams to settle.
I was thinking this was less painful then my two c sections it does go to show everyones different I guess.
8 and a half kg lost since starting opti on the 13th so I am pretty happy with that.
Hope everyones well xx Leanne |

thanks to everyone who wished me well yesterday. I had to be in hospital at 7am, had the op at 9.30 and met my husband on HDU (high dependacy unit) at 1.00. I am very sore at the moment and have a sore throat, not inside but outside, unusual. I stayed on the HDU overnight and didn't get much sleep and they have those things massaging your lower legs and obs seemed to be every hour. Just taking things easy at the moment. Mum is bringing over Tea she has made for the "others". Hope everyone is in good health

Hi Corina,
We were banded on the same day - I find it fascinating how different the experience is for everyone. I had a really good sleep lasgt night, took 2 digesics and slept for 6 hours. Sleep really is a god send. I can drink anything, it all goes down well. My most painful spot is the port which is in the middle near the top of my tummy and I think the hernia repair is uncomfortable.
Not too much wind but enough to notice and coughing hurts.
Does anyone know if Qui went in??? Hope Di is Ok too.
Going to have a nanna nap now - love that you can and not feel guilty.

Hi Corina
I am 8 days post op and I too was suprised by the pain. Was expecting much less. I have also hace ceasers and think this was worse. Just shows how different everyone is. So many find that they feel well quickly while others like us take that bit longer. Anyway I had a really bad week. Felt so so sore internally as well as bad shoulder pain but really starting to feel better now, so just take it real easy for the next few days and you should start to be on the up. Hope you feel better soon. |

Hi All,
I had my surgery on Wednesday afternoon and came home yesterday morning, I am a little shocked at the pain (just in the port site I think) I have had three ceasers and I think this is worse. I have a little indigestion as well even if I am only having water, Is this normal? Anyway I hope everyone else is recovering well.
Cheers Corina |

Hi all - its great to hear how well you are all doing. Unfortunately I have not been able to concentrate on my band or my bandit buddies this week has it has been a bit of a shocker. I had to rush my mum to hospital on the weekend and I also had to have some surgery on Thursday! Yikes - I have really had enough of hospitals. Mum is on the mend and will be home soon plus I am on the mend again! (Note my surgery was not band related.)
Touch wood - my band is doing well. It has been wonderful during such a stressful week. Usually I would comfort eat with all the stress but the band has kept that under control. It tells me when I have had enough to eat. I can comfortably eat just about 3/4 cup of food in one sitting. Anymore than that and it is very uncomfortable.
Well done to the last bandits - you have been so patient waiting so long, listening to our stories and then getting it done. Gawd if you can do that you can do anything - you are stars! Take care Lizzy |

| Good luck, Di, and QUi. The lucky last of our group. 3 weeks banded today, and seeing the dietician for the first time since my op. 14 kgs down, and I feel fab. People I work with are noticing the change, even commenting that my face is even looking slimmer, lol. I know we lose a lot of fluid, initially, but I sure hope i can continue to lose like this for a while. I have another 3 weeks, before my first fill, so we shall see how that affects me. I have not had any nausea, or vomitting, sooooo fingers crossed, it won't happen. |

Hi Everybody
Well it's the night before the big day. I need to be at the hospital at 8am. I'm feeling pretty good but the nerves are still there. I've been on Optifast with extras (as allowed by my surgeon) and I've lost 6kg and 22cm off my measurements.
Looking forward to the first day of the rest of my life.

Hope everything went well for Debbie today, and good luck for tomorrow Di.
I will most likely not be done tomorrow. I spoke with the anaesthetist today and she said 'oh you don;t sound well', I am a bit better, but I think they will say no tomorrow. I am going in to the hospital in the morning, but is quite prepared for a no.
Oh well, it is disappointing, but if no, it is for my own good. So I better order some more Optifast as I am running out soon. I think I am going to be well and truely over Optifast by the time I have this band :) |

Hi All,
Am home from being banded yesterday - also had a large hernia repair. I was so impressed with my surgeon and the whole team. Four incisions, my port is up high in the middle.
My surgeon did 3 of us yesterday and we were all in the same ward last night, so under the influence of "a great drug mocktail" to quote the anethetis,t we chatted away about our favourite foods and what got us here in the first place and what we will miss - it was very funny.
Pain management in hospital was fab - great drugs. At home OK - sometimes nothing and then more when I walk around, go to loo etc. My surgeon said "You will feel pretty ordinary for the next 3 - 4 days and should wake up on Monday feelings much better." He also told me to be smart and rest properly.
Am having no trouble drinking and I am really hungry. But otherwise all good - very sleepy.
Hey how about those hepron injections in the leg - what a sting???? Two hourly obs all night leaves you a bit tired.
Have had some shoulder tip pain, but more discomfort so far in wound areas.
Hope Debbie went well today and Di and Qui tomorrow - fingers crossed for everyone.
Need to go back to the lounge and the nanna rugs now but will check in again later.

Can you contact your surgeon & ask for a fill early? I had my 1st fill yesterday 0.5 ml(4 weeks post op today) and found out that I already had 2.5 mls in there from the day of surgery - that's why I havent been hungry until recently. So my total is now 3ml. I have been able to eat anything & everything too (except the bread incident we've discussed). In the book by Prof O'brien (love that book)it clearly states that the 1st fill is at approx 4 weeks.
I have 2 suggestions tho: Maybe you don't have as much to lose? Or maybe you also have some fill in already from the date of surgery?
Don't be dispondent - it has worked for so many people & it will work for you too.

Hi all,
I'm day 18 post op. Is anyone else feeling really low in energy? I'm not eating much because I'm still not hungry so I'm thinking that it might be the cause. I am sore on my right side but I think I pulled a muscle trying to get out of the bath last night! lol....it's not sore anywhere around my cuts.
Anyway thats my update, and 13.5kgs down so I'm happy with that!
How's everyone else going?

Hi everyone - 10 days post op here. Took my dressings off as instructed, but they dont look ready, so I redressed them, will wait a bit longer. on the good side - this morning i packed away all my size 26 and 24 and got out the size 22 and 20s, im not throwing the good ones away, I will wait and cut them down and resew them.
Still tender where the port is, especially annoying that the button of my jeans is right at that spot, have to keep them undone.
