| Hi everyone I finally got to post my stats. 14kg down ..very happy. But still have to stick to liquids till I see the dietician on Friday - not to long.......... Dr also said I will need a top up after starting mushines so I will need to go for a fill again in 2 weeks... Otherwise Im doing very well just have to concentrate on the exercise side of things now... take care everyone and wishes less of you weekly :) Nel |

| How are you all doing today? I had my second night without pain killers, so I think the pains are over now. I do have to be careful when turning in bed, otherwise the port area gets really sore, and it stings and burns for a while if I "upset" it. So I am very careful getting up (even from a chair), and I do not bend. Drying my left foot is a bit difficult after my shower as the port area makes it difficult to bend over enough. Try to put my foot on a chair, but still, just stretching forward too much hurts. Other than that I am in good spirits. Still not hungry, but try to drink my 3 lots per day, plus water. I am really glad I had this done. |

| Hey all im back lol again still sick so havnt had a chance to come online :/ how is everyone doing? i dont get any full sensation and ive barely lost even 2 kg since my op and i was banded 11th of july so lol yeah am i the only one not losing anything? will be getting first fill wed thank goodness im feeling like my hernia repairs might need to be fixed again because the pain has come back all of a sudden and they were in a rush that day i really hope not! |

| You are right, need to be careful - my incisions are all so neat and tidy (there are 4 of them) so I was surprised when opened a little - but when I think about it I really pushing it last night - it's only small with no meaty bits !!!!! | arn66au, yes, be careful with the stretching, sounds painful... I also have found bending to pick up something has to be done very carefully, otherwise I get a real pain in the port area. My bandages are all off now, including the little strips over the actual cuts. All look good, I think they will not be very noticable once they fade. I think the surgeon, or whoever did the stitching as done an excellent job. My daughter had a umbilical hernia repair after her first baby, and her scar looks terrible and she is not very happy about it. She was looking at my scars and was surprised how "nice" they look, they look nicer now than what her scar does after 2 years. |

| Hi Barge I guess we are all different, so maybe you are still retaining fluids after the operation. Are you on mushies already? If so, all your drinks should be calorie free, and should not be with your meal. I am at day 8 and still on liquids only, and will be to the end of 14 days. Once I start on mushies, I think it will be only 1/2 cup max 3 times a day.... seing the dietitian on Friday, so I guess she will let me know what to do. Maybe write down everything you are having and see if there is something that does not "go by the book". If you are retaining fluid, keep sipping water to make sure you are having the required amount. |

| Hi Everyone, I wonder what I'm doing wrong? I lost 3.5 kgs on the first week of opti and then nothing on the second week. I lost about 2.5 kgs on the first two-three days post op (possibly to be expected really) and then absolutely nothing else the entire rest of the time. In fact I've put on about 0.8kgs and held this higher weight for about five days. I get the full sensation but its normally after about 1 cup of food or liquid. I suppose I don't need to eat three meals per day, but I want to in order to feel normal. No I don't exercise every day but then its been less than 2 weeks post op and I can still really feel my porthole almost sticking out through the front of my stomach, so this makes it really uncomfortable to jiggle up and down walking or whatever. I see my surgeon on Friday week for my first fill but I would rather have hoped to have lost a bit more than this. If I'm eating/drinking three cups of healthy food per day, I hardly think this should cause me to plateau already!! Barge |

| Hello July Bandits, How is everyone going?? Friday and Saturday were the first days I had without any shoulder pain - it was great, adn today I drove my daughter to soccer and stood through the whole game - was a bit weary after but all good. One not so good thing, one of my incisions opened up a bit last night, I wasn'r being as careful as I should, was reaching really high in a kitchen cupboard. Don't think I will do that again. What's happening with everyone else??? Tootle Arn :) |

| Hello everyone great to see that everyone is doing so well and the newly banded are healing steadily. I didn't realise how much thought and planning each day needs in regards to working out meals, timing, getting enough water in and keeping up exercise. I'm so ready for a fill and I'll be seeing Doc D on Monday. Can't wait because 1: I find out how much Ive lost so I too can add my statistics to the list and 2: get a fill as I'm at the point where I know that if I try solid food its going to go down - so tempted in the evenings when we have our evenving meal but I need to keep strong. Even though I have a fill I'm not sure if I can go on mushies as I won't get to see the dietician till friday... so its 1 more week of liquid (maybe)... have a great weekend everyone Nel |

| Morning, The back/shoulder pain is a real bummer, I went to my daughters school for a meeting last night and half wayh through the meeting that horrible pain started again - absolutely foul, spent rest of the night with heat pack and taking digesics.....scars are nice and itchy, dissolving stitches are disappearing nicely. Haven't driven yet think I will this weekend. Qui imagine how hot you are going to look at your daughters wedding - so exciting. Have a great day Arn :) |

| 1 week today, and I had prpbably my best night's sleep, but I had to take a pain killer last night as I had the worst stomach pain. It is the same sort of pain I had when I had an ulcer, but have been checked just prior to operation and my stomach is supposed to be ok. I had some watered down apple juice yesterday, and it was after that I got the stomach pain. My back is still sore, it is a "tired" sort of feeling. I hope that will go away soon as it makes me want to lie down, and I would hate to have to sit at work for a whole day if this does not go away. Off to check receiption places for my daughter's wedding in November... hope I can do it, and that I don't get too tired. SIL2B will drive, so I guess I will just have to walk from the car into whatever places we are checking out today. |

| Hi July Bandits I too had the absolute worst back pain today. I think I must have been on my feet way too long. I actually phoned dr and asked if I could take a voltaren 50 antiflammatory (something I used to have pre-surgery) - he gave the all clear. I've lost 10kgs in 3 weeks and yesterday was the first time that i really experienced the loud tummy noises. I've also been taking my measurements around my neck, upper arm, chest, waist, hips, thighs and calf and so far I've lost 35 cms. I had my staples out today and the scars look good. Dr also booked me in for my first fill on 24 August (which is 4 weeks post op). I still have a tight feeling around my port site and find driving a little difficult as well as coughing and laughing etc. Otherwise all is good and no-one can wipe the smile off my face. Di |

| Narelle and Mel, I am still losing weight has slowed a little, to a kilo a week, but i have to be on top of it all the time. Its like being back at the beginning stage and wanting to eat. I have so far pretty much tackled most things but just a bite here and there so it doesnt put any weight on, except sandwiches. I had a bite of a cheeseburger the other day was starving and my stomach took hold of my brain for 5 minutes which i regreted later but due to my husbands 40th and my daughters birthday I had tiramisu under my nose as well as cake which was one of the things that doesnt sit well and alchahol, all the works so it has been hard. I called my surgeon and cannot get in before that date and they didnt want to touch me until 6 weeks but yet they allowed me to go on mushies at 1 week after the op. I burp a heap after eating and sometimes i feel like the port hurts when i have eaten too much.I have lost a total of 9 kilos since starting so I will add to the list as well shortly. thanks for your replies girls you made me feel better.
