Hi Junies,
haven't been on here for a while but I have been feeling a little low lately, so I thought I would give it a go. I just don't really feel safisfied with what I am eating!! I find myself always looking for food and don't seem to have the willpower to stop myself. I really thought all of this would have stopped by now. I get my second fill on the 3rd Sept and am going to Fiji on 26th Sept, so I was hoping to lose as much as I could before I go back to the doctors so that I don't actually get any more fill till after holidays. Does this seem STUPID!! I am not having much trouble with eating anything at the moment so I think it would be better to stay like that instead of getting more fill and not being able to eat whilst away. Can anyone let me know if it is normal to be feeling like this, or am I just being really silly.

Hey Mandy, Glad things are moving again for you, are you feeling any restriction?
i was told to expect quiet a few plateos while losing, so we can all prob expect a few more slow times in the future.
All going fine here, still no restriction as such, and losing very slowly, been 101 then back to 102, my body cant make its mind up.
Still doing the treadmill thing every day so im happy with myself about that.
I have had 3 fills now, 4th one next tue. hope he puts another whole ml in cos the last ml did nada, zip, still feels the same as befor it. After next weeks fill i have to wait a month cos he is going away. mmm that will be interesting if the next one still does nothing!!
take care all.
cheers kel |

Hi Katie and everyone :)
I am glad you are feeling a bit more positive now Katie.
Well after two weeks with little food and no movement on the scales they seem to have begun moving in the right direction again.
This morning (so first thing and still in my nightie he he) I weighed in at 102.0 Yippeeee!!!
I know it wont be the same on the doctors scales because they wont let me wear my skimpy nightie to be weighed in (spoil sports! :) ) but I am still claiming 102
How have you gone after your second fill Kel?
How is everyone else fairing? its mighty quiet in here. |

Hi Junies!
As Mandy said, it seems a few of us are at a slow point, and lacking a bit of will power, but it is also very true that it can be comforting to know you arent alone in this feeling, and that it seems to be quite normal.
Over the past few days I have been trying to eat a LOT less, and I have lost a little.
I have a fill not next week, but the week after, so I will be interested in what Dr Nottle says about things. I actually went to my GP the other night and he said that Dr Nottle had written to him after my first fill to say that I am progressing well, so that made me a bit happier.
Hopefully we can all get off this plateau soon, and then we will have plenty of fun stories to share! haha
Katie :) |

I have to confess to eating about 2/3 of a brownie over two days. But it could have been soooo much worse as my dh cooked a huge batch of them and I could have just shoved my face into the tupperware they were that delicious!
First time he has ever baked.
I think it looks like most of us are in the same place at the moment, a bit over waiting for our bands to start actually working and running low on the willpower we used on optifast and the first few weeks.
I'm going to take a leaf out of your book Kel and try to talk my way into a 1ml fill at least because so far the only thing that caused me to even feel my band was half a very doughy white roll.
In case you haven't guessed my weight is going nowhere still. I have to admit it does make me feel better coming here and finding out I'm not alone.
P.S I laughed at the hurdles comment :) |

Ohhhhhh, you guys are TOO sweet.
Yeah feeling much better, I like the idea of a lifetime thing and we do need these little naughty things occassionally, and also like NOT what I would usually have, I need to add 3 pieces of chicken, a potato and grave and large chips and pepsi for that. So much better than before band.
Have felt a little restriction today but still not very tight, so I will see how this month goes with a better attitude and a few workouts.
Thanks again.
Big smooches to you all.

mel, dont be embarassed, and dont beat yourself up, you have done really well with your loss. Just remember its not a race and this is a life time thing so there is no rush. I was bandedon 4.6.09 and was 115.5 am now 102.5, i had a bit of a standstill moment and i thought it was all a waste of time, then the numbers started to move again.
Ive had KFC a few times and the way i see it, this is forever and im not going to starve myself of these bad things co swhen i do finally have then i know i will gorge myself, so i have a few nuggets and chips every now and then, no where near the large meals i use to have though!!!!
sueneill, dont give up, everything will start cruzing soon.
i had a fill today, was ment to get .5ml but when i went in i exagerated the fact that i was only relying on will power (which i have been)for the last two weeks and he put in 1 whole ml. Have had a coffee after but thats all so will be interesting at tea time if i feel any different.
i think its all about talking with you surgon/nurse about how you are really going, i was stressing i had put on or not lost any but all was good.
hang in therre everyone.
cheers kel |

Mel please don't be so hard on yourself. You have lost 10kg in 6 weeks and I reckon that is really good.
I am 12kg down from my banding weight and that took 8 weeks and I am over the moon.
Other are probably happy with a few kg's loss.
And don't worry about the KFC. We are all going to slip occasionally and if we think we aren't we are kidding ourselves.

Hello fellow Junies
I have not been on for a while as I am not having the joy I expected. Makes me a little embarassed to say I am not doing that well
Had my first fill yesterday, NOT at all painful as I thought it would be, and now have a LITTLE restriction but not heaps, in for another in 4 weeks.
I was banded on 26/6 (the day M.J died) and Start weight is 110.5 and currently 99.5.
So I am really not going down much in the last week. but the last week has been horrible, I was STARVING.
I even had KFC nuggets one night....can you believe it. What an idiot, I had 3 and a handful of chips. Just wanted to kick myself, but picked myself back up and went and joined the gym, not something I want to do but feel it is a must to get me off this little hicup and get the (fat) ball rolling again.
We can do this and so what if we have a few hurdles, lets look at it this way hurdles are good exercise. Ha Ha
I know that was a bad joke first thing in the morning.
Good Luck and have a great week everyone.

Hi all - Just wanted to acknowledge those of you who are:
* eating hardly anything but not losing weight
* using will power not to eat between meals, and/or only to eat 'good' stuff
* perservering whilst getting it sorted.
It is a credit to all of you that you are keeping going, keeping hoping and communicating to help all involved.
Here's to all the support - thanks!!

Tracy you are doing so well, your spreadheet must really be working for you because we have very similar stats but you are doing much better than I am.
Hi Kel, yes I noticed you were in the Christmas challenge as well...we have the same goal I think? Or really really close anyway. It would be so fantastic to get there but at the moment losing a kilo a week seems way beyond me....I still wanted it to be my aim though and Im going to give it my best effort!
And Im *sure* hubby was forgetting how strong he is and whacking you in the face accidentally. I'd make him sleep on the couch :) |

Hey mandy, its frustrating hey, especially when you are eating such a little amount.
I on the other hand have been eating wayyyy to much, get my fill on wed, think he is only putting .5ml in but i might askfor 1ml, see what happens.
Tracy, congrats you are doing really well, nearly at the 20kg mark!! about your app, i actually book mine a few in advance so i know i have them, you can always cancell if yoou dont need it.
Hired a tredmill last night. Going to try and do 1hr everyday, and some boxing with hubby. Did some boxing last night but couldnt stop laughing, he forgets how strong he is and slipped a few through to the keeper!!(the keeper being my face!!)
I saw your in the christmas goals list too mandy, cross the fingers and hope we get to our goals.
Keep on trucking everyone, we WILL get there!!
Cheers Kel. |

Sorry I feel guilty for reading this forum obsessively but hardly ever making a post. I agree the June bandits are all in the transition phase and we are probably all waiting around to see what happens.
I was banded 12/6/2009 at Essendon Private by Dr Aly. Band had 1.5ml in at time of op and I had my first fill 30/7/2009 (6 weeks post op)and am now at 4ml. I do feel I have some restriction and am being obsessively careful about how much I eat and chewing things to death. The Dr said "see u in 4 weeks" but of course when I got to the receptionist she said he doesn't have any appointments for 6 weeks so I have to wait 6 weeks for next fill and suspect I will be running on willpower for those last 2 weeks.
So far everything has been to my expectations. I weigh obsessively every morning and record weight, exercise and food on a spreadsheet. This then tells me how much I have lost in total and also how much from the same time last week. I know this is probably OTT but I find if the weight goes up (and sometimes it does seem to for no logical reason!)I get motivated to do more exercise.
Happy to send the spreadsheet to anyone else who feels it could be useful if you cae to email me tracy underscore hilton at iprimus dot com dot au.

Just checking in.
My weight is like yours Kel, bouncing up and down and up again with no net result. I dont feel like I am eating much at all so goodness knows how low I will have to cut it to drop the weight. Yesterday I had one piece of dark rye toast with a smear of peanut butter (no butter and it really was just a smear) Then one home made salmon pattie (not more than 1/2 cup in size) for lunch and another pattie for dinner with a rocket and spinach salad. Thats it.
Im keeping my fluids up and never miss my benefibre or vitamin.
Kel its good to hear you enjoyed band camp. I hope your next fill helps, Ive got a bit more of a wait for mine.
I guess people may feel more enthusiastic about posting and keeping track of their weight loss once their bands are working better because there doesnt seem much positive to report in this half way land between being a non banded person and having a band thats actually working.
I could be wrong I guess, maybe others are having great sucess already but just cant be bothered posting. |

Hi all,
Had my first fill of 1/2 ml yesterday as I was told that when the band was put in there was 3 1/2mls in the band already. Havent noticed much difference in terms of restriction when eating but am quite happy about that really and if there is longer periods between feeling hungry I will be happy.
Was pleased at how little discomfort that I experienced with the fill so will be even more relaxed next time.
My scales didnt indicate a weight loss but the Dr's scales said I had lost 1.2kg. Anyway, it is a long journey and I am not going to get hung up with the weight loss at least for a while anyway but of course would prefer it to be going down down down!!!!
Hope all is going well for the other June bandits!

Hi All.
I seem to be going nowhere at the moment, up 1 kg down 1kg up 1kg down 1kg, you get the picture. Another fill .5ml on wednesday so hope that helps with restriction a little more. Ive been getting a little shoulder pain recently. Kind of conecting it to when im really hungry. Trying not to get to that starving point.
Band camp went well. The rain held off so that was good. Up at 6am for a boxing session on sat & sun morning, really enjoyed that and have got some gloves to box with the hubby. Had a dieatition and a lady talking about the mind side of it, Also a fashion lady talking about what suits each body shape. Was some interestion stuff said over the weekend.
Met some really nice ladys, and we are going to have a reunion this time next year, so that should be fun!!
All in all was good, but i was expecting to be thrashed in the exercise department a little more, but as they explained everyone is at a different stage and they didnt want to push it too much.
Sounds like most is hanging out for that next fill.
Fill me up i say !!!!LOL
Cheers Kel. |

Katie if will power was easy none of us would have needed to try a band.
I am starving today and have already eaten more than I'm betting I should....only my yogurt and muesli and half a turkey and salad sandwich on rye but it wont be little enough for me to lose anything because I have the metabolism of a slug. |

I wish I had the will power you have!
I have been eating more than a cup (trying not to..) but more importantly cannot stop snacking. And I can literally eat anything at all that I want.
It's really bad. I almost feel like going on optifast again so that I can start losing more weight.
But that comes back to that 'willpower' thing which I am sorely lacking. Argh! |

| Thanks Katie. The side pain is almost gone now but Im annoyed I put on a kilo and a bit because Im still eating half to one cup three times a day with no snacking and certainly no treats like chocolate. I really was hoping to lose weight without being so tight I cant get down lots of food types but it may not be possible for me. |
