Thanks for the update Lisa!
I have been wondering about this for a while as I do a bit of travel and will be going O/S just after one year of banding. This information is really helpful and will save a lot of us time and effort calling heaps of companies!
much appreciated, and enjoy your trip :)

Hey guys
Just thought I'd update you on my travel insurance research:
Southern Cross Travel will cover the band with a $100 premium. I was able to process my insurance online. The underlying insurance was cheaper than all competitors, so I'd be careful to check that they cover what you think you will need.
QBE will consider it 1 year plus.
Suresave potentially 6 months plus.
Worldcare travel insurance - 24 months plus with $100 loading.
NRMA and Comminsure - you need to fill out a form and have it signed by your doctor before they will consider.
I'll probably swap to a 'name' brand once I'm past the waiting period.
Hope that helps people.

Very excited - I'm off to USA this Friday to attend the Avatar Professional Course. Can't wait - 1000 Avatar Masters from 50 countries in the one room is fantabulous. I wasn't planning to go but in the end, decided I really wanted to, so bit the bullet and booked my flights this morning.
A bit nervous about flying with the band - and still sussing out travel insurance. Waiting to see if ING will the band.

Juth updating my stats.... things are finally moving along a little rather than yo-yoing up and down. I cant wait to hit my 25kg loss! Might try and get a little more fill, but since my loss has been pretty steady I'm wondering if they will let me...
Hope everyone is well, good work on all the double digit losses!

Hi fatnomore
I know EXACTLY how you feel, (go through to pages 4 and 5 to see me little sook) and you will also see the support and encouragement I got from fellow bandsters. I couldnt have done it without them. It really makes a difffrence having someone to talk to or even vent to as they DO understand, it is not a race and even 2 kilos is a loss and not a gain, I look at it if I didnt have the band I might now be 3 kilos heavier than my start weight so that is a big diffrence to where I am now, I have little hiccups along the way and loose my motivation but get back up and have another red hot go.
I am now down to 97 and a bit stuck there but I want to be down to 93 by Christmas, and this is a totally achieveable goal.
I had this crazy notion in my head when I was done that I would be down to 80 at Christmas and then I found out it is not a miracle but a little tool to help me on the way. Good Luck, have a great week and we are here if you need us.
Oh good morning Junies I hope everybody is well and enjoying the school holidays.
Mel

Congrats Barb - awesome.
OK - I was all set for a fill today thinking I'd lost almost zero since last weigh in 3 weeks ago. To my surprise, I'd lost 2kgs in 3 weeks. So we are waiting on the fill. I'm glad because I want to be able to eat most things and enjoy a decent meal, so hopefully this is going to keep working for me.
Updated stats below.
Babs - I just copied yours as you last listed - didn't want to make assumptions.
Cheers all - Lisa

Hi all
I went to the doctors on Thursday and ecstatic that I had lost 4kg in 4 weeks - Yippee!
I didnt have another fill but have 4.5mls already and am sort of happy about the level at the moment. I am finding food is more easily stuck of late so think it good not to have more added.
I still feel like I am eating a bit too much but that is OK if I am still getting results.
Good luck forumites!

Hi Fatnomore - welcome. Glad you found the group.
I'm similar - very slow weight loss. I can eat a fair bit if I want, but a small amount is enough to take away the hunger. I'm working on trying not to graze and eating healthier. I've only had a 0.5ml fill as my doc put a lot in at the time of operation.
Thanks for the input Babs.

Hi folks, When you plateau look at your protein and water intake. Increase your protein and water intake and reduce your carbs you could resume your loss. It is a tip I learnt.
If your diet is OK then look at the serving size and the amount of exercise. A band isn't a magic bullet although I wish it was. It takes time and effort but I can assure you once you get to mainstream clothing size you will think you are a kid in a lolly shop. I am confused with choice now I am in 12/14. Cheers Barb |

Welcome Fatnomore,
I think what you are experiencing is much the same as many on the forum but it is important to "keep the faith" as they say. All those who have gone before us have had the same experiences and most have had great successes so hang in there!
I too am at a bit of a stalemate but I am now focussing on changing WHAT I eat rather that HOW MUCH I eat so am hoping for some success in the coming weeks.
Am off to Dr's on Thursday so not sure if he will give me another fill and am not sure that I want one either - think I need to work better with what I have.
Will report after Thursday when I go to the docs. In the meanwhile Fatnomore hang in there and hope you get as much as me from this forum.

Hi fatnomore,
Welcome to the forum!
I know how you feel about being stuck for a while, I have been hovering around 120kg for a month now. It's really frustrating isn't it!
I keep going back for fills, and not much is happening. I have felt a bit of restriction since the last fill, but nothing which is making much of a difference.
Still, just trying to make better food choices and concentrating on protein instead of carbs! (easier said than done for a carb-o-holic lol)
Hope you can find some information or inspiration and look forward to hearing about your journey :)

| hi everyone, I'm new here and banded 22 June. I am so excited to find this forum! Have often wished I could meet fellow banders that had surgery the same time as me to share our ups and downs. my weight loss has been very slow post surgery. I was 123 prior but lost 8kg during optifast stage. Now down to 109 but stuck there for 6 weeks! had a fill 6 weeks after surgery of 1.5ml and another .25 recently I was disappointed cause I though both times I would get more. Look forward ton reading about your journeys and sharing mine. |

Well just to report back in, my fill was a bit brutal. She couldnt find my port to begin with, and she gave me 1ml.
I went to have a cup of water on my way out like always, and water wouldn't go down. That was a bit scary haha
Anyways I tried to wait it out and see if maybe I had just gulped it or something but it really wasn't going down so I had to go straight back in and get some taken out. Which was easier said than done apparently.
I ended up with 10 needle holes and 6 needles! Boy did that bruise up haha
So she took 5ml out (which I was a bit shattered about) and then water went down fine.
Been on liquids/mushies since then and haven't noticed much difference but I'll see how I go tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
Katie

Have a great time Mandy!
I'm off to get another fill this morning. I am hoping for 1ml today because then I won't be back for 4 weeks after that, and I have barely been restricted at all yet. I know it is normal for it to take time to find the right amount, but part of me can't help but think 'what if I've stretched my stomach and that's why I never feel restricted'.
I know it's probably silly, but I have had 3 fills and feel pretty much nothing! (except for having to chew my food a bit better).
Anyways, we shall see in a few hours!
Katie
