PART 1

Hi to all our new friends, welcome aboard!

This site is designed to help all people interested in Lap banding to come together and discuss all facets of life before and after banding.

This board is a free Yahoo board and as such, feel free to post anything that you feel appropriate to the topic, or start your own thread (topic). However, as a bit of simple "housekeeping", you may find the answer you are looking for in an existing thread, or, add your question to the relative thread, and you should hopefully get some speedy responses! This way, the next person who has the same question may save themselves a little time.

Please don't be shy, join in & become a part of this great forum full of support, encouragement, advice & information!

On all the pages you will see some numbers at the bottom and top of the page, indicating pages of past topics. It's well worth scrolling back, as many of the things you want to know have been addressed before. You will find a huge range of topics such as:
* Cost.
* Surgeons - scroll back to see which surgeons in your area.
* Pre and post op advice
* Optifast
* General Advice
* Get Togethers
* Inspirational stories
and many more.

When returning to a long thread, click on the 'latest post' time/date (on the right) to see the most recent replies. To see all the latest threads, & automatically refresh the screen, click on 'Lap Band Surgery' (above the page numbers at the top)

Have a look at the MSN Messenger thread...this is where a lot of the members of this board post their email addresses to chat on MSN. Sign up..it's great fun and you can talk to many members in live time!!

Try posting in the General Chat #4 thread first up, there is a lot of traffic in there, so a response may be quicker.

Re:WELCOME TO ALL NEW FORUM USERS Reply to this message
PART 2:

Some frequently used abbreviations you may see on this forum:

Bandster/Bandit - A person who has undergone banding.

B u m p/Bringing Forward/BTT - This means to bring a thread/topic to the top of the front page.

THREAD - A thread is a topic

PB - Productive Burp - This is a 'bandster' term that refers to the regurgitation that most bandsters will experience at least once in their bandster lives when we've eaten more or larger pieces than can be passed through the stoma (small entrance to the stomach). Since the food has not been digested, there is no odour, stomach acid, or retching involved but there may be a varying degree of phlegm that accompanies it. PB episodes may last anywhere from 1 minute to two hours, depending on the individual and circumstances. After a PB episode, under most circumstances, it's best to refrain from eating at that meal and let the stoma rest. If it is happening constantly it may be a good idea to try going on fluids for 24 hours to see if the inflammation goes down. If not, you must see your doctor.

NSV - Non Scale Victory is a victory that is celebrated by not being weighed e.g. being able to cross your legs, jeans that were too small for you now fit, when flying not having to ask for an extender seatbelt.

YAHOO has a glitch in their system that causes threads/topics to disappear when they reach the bottom of page 1 and are being transferred to page 2. They eventually reappear but it's known for them to take a day or two to do so. Therefore it is advisable to save any thread that you would like to frequently use in your bookmarks or favourites.

You will sometimes see s p a c e d words. Yahoo is quite touchy, & thinks that some innocent words are profanities!

Thank you.

Brydie,

I have seen your answers and have to agree with Linda. Make sure the box in the middle of the screen is set to Date (newest first) and you will be able to see your responses and those that respond to you.

Hi Brydie, at the top of the page there is a newest or oldest button. If it is set on the oldest the old answers appear. If you change it to newest then you should get the latest replies.

Hi Brydie

You have posted on the Dr Michael Talbot post - which I have brought forward to the first page. Read the post I made to you yesterday and hopefully that will solve your problems.
