Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
In honor of my last week and abit in the uk.....

ROYAL JOGGING

Prince Charles decided to take up jogging.

Every day, he'd jog past a hooker standing on the same street corner. He learned to brace himself as he approached her for what was almost certain to follow.

'One hundred and fifty pounds!' she'd shout from the curb.

'No! Five pounds!' He would fire back, just to shut her up.

This ritual between him and the hooker became a daily occurrence.

He'd run by and she'd yell, 'One hundred and Fifty pounds!'
He'd yell back, 'Five pounds!'

One day, Camilla decided that she wanted to accompany her 'husband' on his jog.

As the jogging couple neared the working woman's street corner, Prince Charles realised she'd bark her £150 offer and Camilla would wonder what he'd really been doing on all his past outings.

He figured he'd better have a good explanation for his Wife.

As they jogged into the turn that would take them past the corner, he became even more apprehensive than usual.

Sure enough, there was the hooker. He tried to avoid the prostitute's eyes as she watched the pair jog past.

Then, from her corner, the hooker yelled:
'See what you get for five pounds, you tight b@st@rd?!'

It stinks that I couldn't get there this morning, I was looking forward to it.

Do you realised they are forecasting 36C for Saturday??? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! !! I'll die at the relay! why couldn't it stay in the mid 20's??

Jen baby I know you are bored and frustrated but you need to take notice of what Mel and Kerri have said. Every day you will feel a little bit better providing you rest. If you don't you'll only prolong your healing time.

Welcome to the group 'M'

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Hi Jen,

Congrats on getting thru your surgery...you are very brave. Make sure you continue your pain killers as prescribed/advised by your doctor. Your focus really needs to be on yourself in terms of rest, some mobility (to reduce blood clots) and keeping your pain levels under control. You shouldn't really have a pain score higher than say 3/10 say 30 mins after having your meds. If your pain killers aren't adequate get onto your doctor asap.

Don't go running wild the moment you start to feel ok because you will go backwards just as quick. If you haven't already, check with your car insurance company to ask them if you are covered to drive, if not how long will you have to wait.

All the best for your recovery, and let your family continue to put your needs first during your recooperation.

Kerri :)

Good girl... slowly slowly. Every day is going to be different. You have had major major surgery and you need to take your time. You are going to take about 6 weeks to feel back to yourself... but, you will get there with time and patience.

Now... snuggle up and try to get a good nights sleep. You will feel better tomorrow.

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Thanks Mel, i've been taking the painkillers, mainly tramadol and panadol every six hours as I was told and tonight i'm taking the oxynorm every 4 to try and get a decent sleep.

I think i'm rebelling, I really want to go to sticky beaks cafe to catch up with the others tomorrow but i'm probably not up to it and my mother in law is coming over and i'm going to instruct the kids on baking her a cake.

I will give myself a slap and go and snuggle up with hubby, he always knows how to make me feel better. Hes been patting me face to help me when I first get into bed, as it hurts for a while after I get in. Hes gorgeous.

I know in a couple of weeks things will improve, I just have to focus on that and the smaller clothes I will be able to wear this winter.

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Painkillers... every four hours at least until you feel better. Little walks, just enough to keep you moving. Water sipped regularily, and painkillers every four hours!!!!!!!!!

Other than that, time and patience.

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
I don't want a party, just to be able to move around a bit better so I can get about, I seem to be only able to stand for no more than 10 mins.

The pain seems worse tonight, so i've taken the oxynorm and some panadol, hoping to have a better sleep and i'm going to bed now.

It's funny but I love nothing more than sitting idle normally, reading a book and lounging. I think its the pain level, I can't concentrate on reading or tv for very long and get restless.

Any suggestions anyone? I'm bored senseless.... I want to move...walk...it's frustrating.

Sorry i'm being a bit gloomy.

Welcome back JenShades! It's so much better being in the comforts of your own home.

Welcome to the board Jo...as JenE said just ask any question and you'll get answers!
I suggest you stick to the guidelines in the Optifast broucher. Otherwise talk to the dietician ( have you met with her? )
I can tell you by Day 4 ( or Day 5 ) you will find it does get a bit easier. Hang in there!

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
It will be uncomfortable for you to move about at first - getting up and down from chairs etc. Once you get upright you'll be fine when walking. I needed to walk rather hunched over for a few weeks ( b/c of my back ) but my TT friend said it was only a day or two till she walked tall again. Really movement of any sort to sit up or roll over, cough, sneeze, have a bowel movement etc will be uncomfortable for a while, but that's to be expected.

Good luck with your op. Don't worry they will send you home with some good drugs. Just keep ahead of them! If you let them out of your system you can be in a "world of hurt"

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Sorry D, didnt get on the board yesterday. I just read my emails and discovered that you wanted some info about having a tummy tuck. Don't know if I can help you with what pain level you can expect as my experience was a little different.
I actually had a full Body-lift ( front and back ). You end up looking like you've been ring barked! My pain/recovery from that op was not as normally expected as I had addition problems with my back being put out during the op. In fact I'm still having difficulty with it 16mths later...can't run like I use to and suffer even when sitting at times.
A friend of mine had a TT a fortnight ago. She spent a couple of nights in hospital and had drains. It surprises me that you are only in overnight and will have no drains. I can tell you that she said her TT was a breeze 'pain wise' compaired to her face lift...so that's some good news on the pain front for you.
After my op I was in a world of pain...I felt like I'd been hit by a train and dragged for miles. You go in to these ops thinking you are prepared, yet you never really are. This was certainly bigger than I had expected!! But 99% of my pain was in my back. Had I just had a TT and not needed turning during the op ( they turn you twice with a body-lift ) it may have been quite different. Thus I ended up having a rather slow, painful, drug filled recovery as both hips had rotated in opposite directions and that put my back out of wack BIG time! Then afterwards ( not knowing that my back/hips were out ) I spent weeks in the same position, concertined in a special hospital bed and then a chair ( once home ) where all my weight was put on the affected area. I thought the terrible pain I was in was the result of the surgery ( incissions/ muscles etc ) when most was b/c my back was so out and I was putting all my weight constantly on it.
If you do end up with drains prepare to feel a little uncomfortable as they are pulled out. In fact it makes you feel a little queesy!

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Hey Jo...welcome. I guess you are a DocD patient. Stick around, and chat to us. We are a mix of long term bandits and short term. There is a wealth of experience support and knowledge if you want to pick anyones brains. If you want to socialise with people who go through the same things as you keep your eye on the PERTH GET TOGETHER thread for cathcups. We have a regular one Sunday mornings at a cafe at Kings Park, called Sticky Beaks. Try and come one Sunday.

There is also a sticky thread...on the optifast stage, this is on the front page of the threads, that is a great place to talk to people who are on it at the same time.

All the best with your journey, congrats on your decision.

take care...jen xx
