Should also add that I am petrified my band will slip. It took a lot for me to go through with surgery (of any kind) given my history with blood clots in the lungs. So the thought of having a band slip terrifies me.

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Hey everyone - I have posted in the general chat, but want your opinions also.
I had another ½ml put in last Thursday, and have been fine up until yesterday, where I could not keep my fish and salad down, or the pasta for dinner, and today I couldn't even keep down the cauliflower cheese I made cos I thought that would work.
I am sliming something terrible until I get all the food out, and am fine again till I try another bit of food. Needless to say, sliming does not hurt at all, but is rather gross, and it looks like 2 cups come up for every little bite of food!!
Water and cups of tea are staying down, as do cuppa soups.
Any body else had sliming issues???

Sharon,
I have posted on the PGT thread that Wednesday's Coffee Morning at kD's is 10am.
Unfortunately I won't be there as I have that volunteer thingy I'm doing at PMH on Wednesday.

Hi Steph...your newsy long post was great!
Am so pleased to hear that you are home. Unfortunately getting comfortable is a difficult thing and I too, like you struggled just to get enough fluids down. Even though you might not feel like it, try to have something beside you at all time and just take tinnie tiny sips. It all helps.
Rest up and keep us posted on your progress.
BTW how's your Mum going?

vikki
PS Actually is good that you don't have scales at home...wish I hadn't as I became obsessed with jumping on them.
You will get a nice surprise when you see kD!

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Hi all
Well im finally home!! Was in hospital for a week and what an experience it was. Had the surgery at around 5pm on Sunday although was booked in for 11:45am so was a bit of a wait. My Op took 3 hours and apparently went well, although I (as well as the others) was in a huge amount of pain. The first couple of days I wasnt feeling to bad but one morning a Dr came into my room and said I looked a bit blue, they checked my oxygen stats and they were down to 70 so an alert was called in my room. Ive never seen so many Drs and nurses arrive so quickly it was a matter of seconds and the room was full (even my fav Dr Dolan was there) They thought a I might have had a blood clot but after I was rushed down for a CT in turns out I had partially collapsed lungs, apparently due to being in surgery for quite awhile.
I was taken to the high dependency unit and started getting a bit better, after 2 days in there I was allowed back onto the ward, then finally on Sunday Dr D said I could go home YAY!!!
Still in a fair bit of pain but have been given nice strong pain killers to help with that, my breathing feels a lot stronger now which I was worried about. Cant get comfortable at night as I can only sleep on my back, I so desperately want to sleep on my side but its just to painful, hopefully it wont be for long.
Thank you all for your support and a special thanks to Carol for all the lovely text messages, they really kept my spirits up.
Dont know if Ive lost any weight coz i dont have any scales :( but havent felt hungry once, in fact i struggle to even drink enough fluid. Have an appointment on Wednesday with Dr D so hopefully i'll find out any weight loss then.
Sorry for such a long post.
Steph

My appt with KD is 9.50am Wednesday (I thought it was Tuesday!! but looked in my faithfuly diary thank goodness) so hope to see some of you there.

ps...yes we did go to JL. Brian did 10 laps with ease. I did 8 ( only cause he made me...so wasn't with ease! LOL ) and then went for a short run while he did the extra couple.
Our trusty ol' coffee tart Coleen was there with Lattes waiting when we arrived at Stickeys. BTW you didnt miss out on any goss...besides you really needed to take it easy yesterday.

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Yes Jen I dont know of another of kD's patients in your position either...but spread your query about someone in the general may be able to help.

Thank Sharon Re- clippers. I can't go anywhere without leaving something.
Yes hubby enjoyed himself...now that might not be such a good thing though...as he might fancy coming along to more GTs and that's just gonna cramp my style! LOL

So you are going to give the shakes another opportunity
Carol? I really should go back to the pool myself. I know you are only taking it easy to give you knee a gentle work out but I do find water aerobics and swimming laps gives me an entirely different workout. Just goes to show we need to mix it up when it comes to exercise.

Sharon, glad you had a rest yesterday...boy you were due for it...you worked so hard for your doo.

Brian..thanks re...re-banding response. I might have to be a thread tart and go elsewhere...but I wanted to ask you guys first...especially as we have the same surgeon. And I would assume Doc D would do it HIS way. Not all docs stitch the band in place like he does.

Ciao

Morning all,
Thanks B...every little bit counts, doesnt it! Besides I like it when you're on top!!! LOL

Good to hear from you Joccie. Yes..."DO NOT GO TO THE GYM NEXT WEEK!" Brian and Carol are right! It's too soon and you need to give your body some time to heal. I know you are keen but there is plenty of time post Liquids and Mushies for exercise.

Have a great day
I'm off to have my shake!

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Good Morning Joc, Good to hear that you are doing well. Take it easy and use this time to allow yourself to heal and don't be in too much of a hurry to hit the gym just yet. The focus for the next few weeks is about healing and getting strong for your new life. Drink your Liquids (don't forget the water), gentle exercise, enjoy the mushie stage..we all did LOL.

Good luck

Brian

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Joke of the Day

What is the most damaging food?
A dietician was once addressing a large audience in Chicago. "The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago. Red meat is awful. Vegetables can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the germs in our drinking water. But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all of us eat it. Can anyone here tell me what lethal product I'm referring to? You, sir, in the first row, please give us your idea."

The man lowered his head and said, "Wedding cake."
