Joke of the Day

An elderly couple came back from a wedding one afternoon and were in a pretty romantic mood. While sitting on their loveseat, the elderly woman looked at her companion and said, "I remember when you used to kiss me every chance you had."

The old man feeling a bit obliged leaned over and gave her a peck on the cheek. Then she said, "I also remember when you used to hold my hand at every opportunity." The old man again feeling obligated reached over and gently placed his hand on hers. The elderly woman then stated, "I also remember when you used to nibble on my neck and send chills down my spine."

This time, the old man had a blank stare on his face and started to get up off the couch. As he began to walk out of the living room, his wife asked, "Was it something I said, where are you going?" The old man looked at her and replied, "I'm going in the other room to get my teeth!"

Thought of the Day

We should keep our words both soft and tender, because one day we may have to eat them.

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
I was banded at 98kgs in Aug 2004 and I reached goal at 58kgs in Nov 2005. So it took me 15 months to lose 40kgs. It was my goal, Steve Watson would have been happy to see me get to 68-70kgs but there was no way I was stopping until my BMI was in the normal range.

My highest weight was 110kgs and as I'm only 152cms I was nearly as wide as I am tall!

Hi Marion, yes I suppose a lot of people are getting done now. I wanted to have it done 3 yrs ago, but thought I could do it on my own, after losing 25kgs on my own I swore I would never put weight on again. I am now worse than before. Hence getting the opp done. How much have you lost, did it take you long to get to your goal. Did you choose your goal or did Dr D

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Suzy, it wasn't because I was very ill that I was banded so quickly. When I was banded there wasn't anywhere near as many people having the op as are having it now. Also my surgeon said "Well I can band you next week or in a month's time as I'm going on holiday" I immediately said "Next week!" he said "Don't you want to think about it?" I said "Nope!" I was banded in August 2004 and reached my goal in November 2005. So I am celebrating 2 years at goal this month.

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Hi Sue - It depends where you are being done. I was done at the Mount in Perth and my pre admission appointment was where I had a chat to the dietician for about 30 mins (I think her name was Bianca and she seemed very up to date with banding and it's limitations etc) They also weighed me etc, filled in all the admission forms and ensured I had TED stockings (I didn't and they charged $8 for them and then I left them behind when I was discharged!!)
Then they send you upstairs for blood tests and another test - can't remember off hand but I think it had something to do with the heart.
This was actually really good cos on the day of the op, I had to be there by 6pm and my op was being done at 7 - so I had no time to be nervous and did not have to think about filling in forms at that time of morning.

Hope the Dolanites all had a great get together today. I had hoped to get to Joondalup for this one but it wasn't to be.With 3 trips to Perth in 5 days this week already I couldn't really justify coffee as a reason for another trip!!
I have my pre admission appointment on Monday. My banding date is Dec 10th. Can some one tell me what this involves please.( One of the questions I was going to ask today at the GT)
regards Sue

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
I am still laughing at the thought of meeting up dressed in PJ's.... A sense of humour I have, so I should blend in quite well, if not stand out for a while, especially if I turn up in my PJ's lol
I have got some clothes that I could bring, still with the labels on, as when I got them home, they just did not look the part on me. So I would be happy for them to go to a good home where they will be used for a little while and then passed on again. If I can find the box they are in I will bring them on the 25th if I can make it, or I will take them to Joondaloup on the 26th.

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Hi Suzy,,rest assured ,, we laughed with you re the PJS and TEDS,, not at you. We are a group who share this huge common goal and we have terrific or should that be terrifying sense of humour lol.
The clothes are those we pass on to the group once we lose weight . You will be surprised at the lovely items available, if you have nothing to swap at any time, thats fine,,they are still available for you to choose. It's so expensive replacing clothes and we have all been there and done that so decided to swap. Hope to meet up soon,,you can suggest a time to meet for coffee as u did the Monday, I am sure someone can meet up,,or 2 or3,, we seem to smell coffee and come a running...take care,,Carol

Re:DR KEVIN DOLAN - PERTH Reply to this message
Sharon - The running around and commitments to the kids and their sport I am sure is out of control, but then I think, at least I know where they are and they are not getting into trouble. At the moment my week looks like this -
Mon - Basketball training
Tues - Basketball training and gymnastics
Wed - BMX racing
Thurs - Basketball State Develpoment Squad, Basketball training and gymnastics
Fri - Basketball games (at least 2)
Sat - Gymnastics
Sun - nothing at the moment, alltho' if there are BMX events or Basketball carnivals, then this day is gone too.
Then there is the dropping off and picking kids up from work as well as me working 3 days.
I am exhausted just seeing it in black and white!!
Can't make it up that way for the Teds GT, forgot to bring mine home from hospital anyway.
Have a great one.

Joke of the Day

3 men were gathering one day to talk about how successful there sons were doing.

The first man says, "My son has been doing so successful as a lawyer he got a mansion and shares it with his friend."

The second mans says, "My son has been so successful as a doctor that he bought a converatable and a private jet for his friend."

The third man says, "Well, my son hasn't been so "successful". In fact, I just learned he was gay and I've accepted that fact. I guess he must be doing good though because he lives in a mansion with his friend and owns a private jet and a convertable."
