Hello Maybees,
well, feeling a bit more in control - Well actually back in control altogether as I think I dropped my bundle. Feeling a lot better about myself as a result and know I can do this thing. It has been tricky without the restriction and I feel I have just been blaming my platea on my surgeon for not having appointments available - But at the end of the day I realise that this is my journey - not his, and that I had better own it - So........ Back on track and back to loosing. A bit of exercise tossed in as well. I have had a goal of being pre pregnancy weight before my youngest turns 5 on the 27th but I dont know if I can do it. I need to shed 4kg, and with my slack month I dont know - But I will give it a shot!!
Anyway I pop in occationally to see how you are travelling and just want to encourage you all. We thought the hardest part of the journey was deciding to have this done in the first place - No way.......Dont they say the best part of the journey is getting there?? I think that it will be all the more sweater because it is a journey we never have to take again. Enjoy the ride Girls!!

Hope everyone is going well. Haven't been on lately, have read that people seem to be having the same problems as me. Had my first fill about 4 weeks ago, lost about 3kg really quickly, then just stopped. Probably because still eating too much. How come all the bad food goes down easy? That is just now fair. Have trouble with meat, chicken and rice. Also find it very hard not to drink with meal. Have done it all my life. Got another fill in 4 weeks, hopefully will lose a bit more by then. Started going to Gym this week, feels good though.
Everyone take care and happy weight loss!!!

These last posts have reminded me that this is why we need to continue to encourage each other. Many of us May Bandits are at a slow stage of not much weight loss, waiting for good restriction and feeling a bit disillusioned. I have read many other threads and want to encourage everyone that we WILL get there!!! Its common to have a slow bit here and there so keep talking and keep walking!

Hi Girls,
Things have been pretty crud, I spiralled back into the same behaviour as before the band and didnt know how to pull myself out... Well that happened last night... OMG I finally have restriction! WOO HOO!! had my first blockage last night... was at my Ostio's and had been eating in the car... felt okay until I had to get out of the car and move and then it was horrible... sorry if its too much info, but I ended up in the bathroom throwing up everything I had just eaten and OMG what sweet relief!
I now have 5mls in my band. I'm now hoping that I get some weight loss! I'm in the same boat as you most of my weight loss is from pre-op/optifast/liquid post op, (I lost 10kg in that time and have only lost 2.2kg since then - in 4 weeks) though I do have some happy news on that front too... I have finally broken the 120kg mark (119.8kg) that was my first goal so my total loss is 12.2kg

Hi Katie, hang in there I'm in the same boat as you. My total weight loss of 7-8 kgs is mainly from the oprifast and very early pre-op. I have just had my first fill last week and I have some discomfort with food but I don't know if this is what you would call restriction. I had a small dinner last night and felt awful for a while.I'm also hanging out to see some results but if you read other threads this is pretty common for some people, that it takes a while for the weight loss to kick in.Good luck with your second fill Katie, let us know how you get on. I have 4mls in a 10 ml band and another fill in four weeks.
Good luck, Im thinking of you,
Cath |

Hello All,
I am feeling very down and dissalusioned, I haven't lost any weight the past month after first fill. I have my second fill next week. Is this normal? I don't feel I have any restriction and am envious of everyone losing weight and not me. I don't feel I have got my money's worth yet!
Hope everyone is well,
Katie |

I have an appointment this afternoon for another fill, so will be able to post an accurate weight loss later today. My scales are about 3kg heavier than the ones at the clinic so I only use them to make sure my weight is going downwards. Hopefully this fill will finally give me better restriction. I already have 5.5ml in a 10ml band, had temporary restriction after the last fill but now feel I could just about eat anything and am getting very hungry between meals. Think I still may have lost about 3kg in 2weeks so very pleased with myself .. would just love to have to use a little less willpower!!!

Hi Everyone,
Been a while since I've been on. Things have been much the same for me with no restriction. I am just the same weight wise. I am really hoping for a call from my surgeon to say I can come in for a fill this week - but this can only happen if there is a cancellation - so not really holding my breath. I am motivated today and so am back on track. I really lost motivation big time because it just doesnt seem like I am banded really at all. I think it is a bit harder with the kids home, so now they are back at school I am hoping to really start loosing again and just have to relly on myself. I am really pleased I have done so well today as it has given me confidence to go on eating well.
Great to read you are all going well.
love Trace

| I'm going in tomorrow for another 1.5ml fill. The 5ml worked for a week but now I can eat larger meals. I also never had any restriction on what I could eat. |

Well it's been three days since my fill and so far so good.
I apparently have a ten ml. band and now have 4mls in it.
I have had a bit of discomfort with solid food but no stuckages.I'm not very hungry which is good. Fingers crossed for a bit of a weight loss by Friday?

Col!!! Haven't heard from you in ages. I thought you must have deserted this site. But then again I haven't had as much time to read all threads for a while, so maybe it was me who was missing.Trust you to pick up on my typo. My father cooked an eel once in our caravan in Merimbula and it stunk to high heaven.Haven't exactly incorporated it into my cooking repertoire. I loved smoked trout though.
Hope you're going well.

Morning everyone!
Hope everyone's having a lovely start to the weekend?
Cath - fantastic re the fill, you kind of forget what 'restriction' is like. Can't wait to hear of your progress in the next few weeks!
Elizabeth - do you still have a blockage? Have you tried all the tricks? ie coke, milk, PB'ing etc? Because you're able to get fluid down it sounds like swelling/inflamation. I've found that if I go back on fluids for a day things seem to settle. Hope you're feeling better.
Maria/Kerrie - it's frustrating isn't it?? Can't wait to have the full/restriction feeling permanently, not just the period after a fill. It's going to take very long time to get to our 'sweet spot'. My doc is pretty strict with my fill schedule too (1st - 8wks, 2nd - 8wks, then every 3 months, not any period less unless it's for a unfill). Mmmm...patience is not one of my virtues!!
Have joined Calorieking and am finding this is helping me stay on track. I'm not dieting (because wasn't this one of the reason we got the band???) but more to ensure my diet is more balanced. It's great to know how much protein, fat, carbs etc are in the food we eat. Because our food intake is so low, I'm trying to focus on a healthy balance. The website is great if anyone's interested.

I have a possible blockage, from not chewing properly....naughty me..On Wednesday at lunch time I ate a small piece of chicken and I must not have chewed it well enough...needless to say since then everything I try to eat has to come back...I can drink ok, sipping.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Hello May09 Bandits,
Well I finally got a fill after 7wks. It went smoothly, my 9yo Ben stood next to me and quizzed the Doc,"how do you know where to go in?". It was my husbands b'day so despite the fluids only rule I had a small eal with no probs.
Today I have had my usual porridge for brekky and an apple m u f f i n for lunch and I'm not one bit hungry.I'm hoping to kick off my weight loss again as I have remained pretty static for the last month or so.
Isn't that amazing Marg how you can have no weight loss when living on fresh air? Glad to hear you got an unfill, its better to be eating something.
I'm feeling less down this week, thanks for the support.

That's a 300gm gain this week - starvation mode big time. No bad breath or classic ketosis signs this week at all, despite eating and drinking practically nothing. Hopefully this itty bitty unfill helps!!

Hey guys,
Cath, how did your fill go??? I had a teeny weeny unfill yesterday - got fed up with the not eating or drinking and not losing because of it.
Hope everyone is cruising along a little better this week. Going up north for another bridesmaid fitting this weekend (*shudders*) - should be interesting to see how my shape has changed again.
Love,
Marg :-) |
